"Finally, we got a new client, boss."
Crystal Jung, Chris's secretary in his company came to approach Chris in his office room. It had been four months since his company lost its reputation due to his failure of re-building an old folks' home. The building collapsed and almost caused death for a loy of workers and Chris should take consequences for that.
"Really?" He got up from his seat and approached her to grab the documents from her hands.
"Mr. Jiang, the biggest investor for Heart Fillia School asked us to build a rabbit hutch." Crystal explained as Chris read the document. "As I heard, it's your son's school, right?"
Chris kept reading the documents, he was actually glad that there was still a person who believed in his skill. "It's great to know we got a new client but.. A rabbit hutch? Seriously, Jess! Can you find another??"
"It's a small project but if we can get through this well then, maybe another bigger project can come soon. Boss, we're running out of time, we should rebuild our financial." Crystal explained to him for further. She hoped her boss would consider this offer because they almost didn't have any project other than this. "And Mr. Jiang really wants you to design and build this."
"Me?" Chris pointed his chest with his index finger.
"Yes, and he has arranged his appointment with you at 1 PM at the coffee bar near the school. Hope you weren't late, boss."
Chris rolled his eyes, he massaged his temple in his room. It was true that his company didn't do well these days and he needed supports from others. He thought hard about this one to take the offer.
He drove his car while he brought the documents and a few of his ideas. He didn't believe himself that he would take this offer and got himself to the coffee bar where Mr. Jiang wanted to meet him.
"Can I help you, Sir?"
"Table reservation under the name Mr. Jiang... Oh, I mean..". He forgot the name because he used English name other than Chinese name, he was used to Mandarin now than English. So, Chris had to check out the name from the business card that Crystal gave to him. "Lucas Jiang."
"Mr. Lucas Jiang? Let me help you to find the table."
Chris followed the waiter and as he saw the figure, he thought that man was very high level from his style and the way he sat. He crossed his legs, reading newspaper with his glasses and his black suit made him ten times stand out more than anyone else in this bar. He was no different from what Chris saw on TV with his son a few days ago, still charismatic.
"Excuse me, Mr. Lucas Jiang, here's your guest." The waiter informed Lucas about Chris who had arrived.
Lucas put down the newspaper on the table and saw Chris standing tall beside the waiter. He almost choked himself how tall he was and Lucas thought that he could surpass as super model. "Oh, hi." He stayed as cool as he could be in front of Chris and shook his hand. "Mr. Zhao. C'mon, sit down."
Lucas didn't think that Chris would be very sharp and handsome, he admitted that he thought Chris was a nerd guy with big glasses and messed outfit.
The waiter excused himself as Lucas ordered drink for Chris. The two men sat down as they studied each other's expression and attitude. "So, umm.." Lucas cleared his throat, trying to hide that he was actually nervous meeting him. "I haven't introduced myself, I'm Lucas Jiang. Just call me Lucas."
"Chris Zhao, call me Chris." Chris nodded and smiled.
"Chris, I'm very glad you take this offer although it's only a small project. I wanna build a rabbit hutch in the school so that the children can play together." Lucas explained.
"I needed time to think about it but because I remember my child so, I guess it's not a bad idea to bring happiness to the children although it's only small thing." Chris said to him.
"Your child?" Lucas made sure that he didn't mishear what he just said.
"I have a ten year old son who studies in your school." Chris informed him.
"Oh, wow, that's great! Well, actually this whole rabbit hutch idea came from my fiancee, the founder of the school and she wants me to find a great architect to build it. That's why I offer you this project." Lucas said to him.
Chris felt overwhelmed because of Lucas's words, a great architect he said. He never heard that these past couple months because he was devastated before, hearing his compliment made Chris's heart warm a bit.
They both were talking about the project and how Chris would build the rabbit hutch in the school, he told Lucas about what tools that he needed and how much cost that it would take. Lucas felt happy to be able to work with a talented person like Chris, he thought that Amber must be glad that this project would go well in the future.
After having a business meeting with Chris, Lucas hurriedly drove his car to the airport. Amber said that she would arrive in China this afternoon and he should pick her up.
He was waiting for her arrival patiently, he couldn't wait to see her face anymore. It had been almost a week since he left her in America for his business and now he could meet her again.
"Babe!"
Amber was shouting as soon as she saw Lucas who was in a daze waiting for her. She waved her hand, running to his position with her suitcase then, she hugged him, gave him a kiss on his lips. "I missed you so much!"
Lucas linked his arms on her waist, kissing her back. "I missed you too."
"How's your business here in China?" Amber asked.
"It's good and it's gonna be better because you're here now." Lucas kissed her again. "Hey, c'mon, you should see our house."
