In the Grip of the Unknown — The Book That Chose Its Bearer
In a distant era, when humanity had developed technologies that allowed them to explore the farthest reaches of space, an unprecedented mission set out to uncover the universe’s deepest secrets. But this journey had a hidden agenda: to dispose of an ancient black book said to possess immense magical powers — powers capable of summoning beings from parallel worlds. This book, a source of terror throughout the ages, held unparalleled strength for whoever possessed it. At the helm of this mission was Omar, the brave commander of a five-member crew, which included Raed — a prominent scientist within the exploration team. Yet Raed harbored a dark secret. He knew the book had once brought ruin to humanity and that its overwhelming power could corrupt the world if it fell into the wrong hands. In his heart, he was certain this force must be erased forever. Before the journey began, Raed snuck into the royal library of one of the largest capitals, where the book was sealed away under tight security. In a decisive moment, under the cover of night, he stole the book and concealed it in his bag, fully aware that this act could mark the beginning of the end for the dark forces the book might unleash. As the spacecraft traveled through the cosmic void, Raed felt the weight of his secret growing heavier. Each challenge they faced seemed to amplify the burden — the book seemed to pulse with a will of its own. But Raed was resolute: once they reached the furthest, most unreachable point in space, he would cast the book into the abyss, where no being could retrieve it, freeing humanity from its sinister influence. When the moment arrived, with everyone distracted by the main mission, Raed acted. Stealthily, he opened the airlock and released the book into the infinite expanse. He believed it was the final chapter for the ancient evil — until the universe began to tremble. Unseen forces erupted from the void. The book, now drifting in space, unleashed a ripple across reality itself. A colossal vortex emerged — a swirling black hole — drawing everything near it into its abyss, including their ship. The alarms blared, lights flashed frantically, but there was no escape. In an instant, darkness swallowed them whole. Time blurred. When Raed finally opened his eyes, he found himself lying on soft ground beneath a sky of pure blue unlike any he had ever seen. The air was crisp, the light serene. As he lifted his head, he beheld towering palaces, shimmering rivers, and vast colorful fields. It was a world of ethereal beauty — a paradise seemingly untouched by time. One by one, the rest of the crew awakened, awestruck. This wasn’t just a new planet. It was an idealized mirror of Earth — magical, breathtaking. Yet, beneath the beauty, a subtle sense of danger loomed. Suddenly, a furious voice shattered the silence. It was Omar, storming toward Raed, eyes blazing with rage. He seized Raed by the collar and roared: “What were you thinking bringing the book with you? Do you realize what you've done?!” Raed gasped, trying to explain, “I wanted to protect the world! I was trying to destroy it before it could fall into the wrong hands!” But Omar wasn’t appeased. “You can’t destroy that book so easily. Its power can't be erased — only countered with something of equal strength. The more you resist it, the more it turns against you! You nearly got us all killed and hurled us into a world we know nothing about!” As the confrontation unfolded, a silent figure stood apart — Arbad. His gaze drifted to the book, lying a few meters away, still glowing faintly. Without a word, he crept forward, snatched the book, and hid it beneath his clothes, his eyes gleaming with a mysterious light — as if he knew a secret no one else did. Arbad held the book tightly, his hands trembling as a voice echoed in his mind, telling him he was the chosen one for this power. He did his best to hide it, even as his heart pounded. Meanwhile, Omar looked around, trying to understand. “Where are we? How do we get back? What happened to us?” Rami, the equipment officer, answered, “Our ship is gone. That black hole devoured us and spat us onto this unknown planet.” Luay, the team’s biologist, was already examining the alien flora with wonder. “This world is full of life! These plants grow with incredible strength — and the air is purer than anything on Earth.” Suddenly, the group was surrounded by armed royal guards, wielding glowing swords and commanding them to surrender. Panic spread — except in Raed, who noticed something strange. “They’re speaking our language... How is that possible?!” The five were taken to a magnificent palace, where a king sat on a jeweled throne clad in splendid robes. Surrounding him were gardens that shimmered like crystal, and graceful animals moved serenely, adding to the place’s almost divine tranquility. Next to the king stood a sharp-eyed minister, silently observing the newcomers. Arbad, all the while, kept his hand on the hidden book, guarding it with a fear stronger than for his own life. Omar stepped forward and recounted their tale: “We come from Earth. We were on a scientific mission, but now we’re here — wherever ‘here’ is. We need to know where we are and if there’s any way home.” The minister’s eyes narrowed. “And how does a skilled pilot steer straight into a black hole? Those are either gateways to other realms — or to oblivion.” Tension rippled through the crew as memories of the book’s explosion returned. Raed tried to speak, but Omar cut him off: “The ship malfunctioned. We had no control.” Meanwhile, Arbad sweated profusely, the book heavy under his clothes — yet invisible. The minister stepped forward, eyeing him curiously. “Are you injured? What are you hiding?” Arbad stammered, “N-nothing. Just a stomach ache…” “Lift your shirt. Let’s see,” the minister demanded. Under the stern gazes of everyone, Arbad slowly raised his shirt — revealing nothing. Omar asked, confused, “What’s wrong? Are you wounded?” Arbad was more confused than anyone. He could feel the book clearly — but it was invisible to the others. A soft whisper brushed his ear: “Because you are the chosen one… do not fear… we are with you…” The king finally spoke, informing them that they were in “The Land of Agate” — one of dozens of magical planets in the cosmos. He offered them refuge in the guest quarters until a solution could be found. The minister led them to a luxurious suite, its architecture and beauty unlike anything they had ever seen. They looked around in silence — awe-struck by the elegance, unaware that their journey into this enchanted world was only just beginning.
