Come What May

THE DECISION

After the day both Levi and Nelsee expressed their affection toward each other, Levi knew she was the one he wanted to spend his day with. 

They both had so much in common, similar struggles and conflicts. Similar lifestyles. Similar taste in beer. They both loved each other’s company. They both enjoyed the s*x. 

Levi was a young lad who had only one ambition and that was to get in to the start up where he could use his skills as a tech specialist to earn money and expand his knowledge in the field of information technology that he was so passionate about. 

Owing to spending his childhood days reading books and educating himself outside the curriculum was what exposed him to the wonders of technology. He was always told that someone who would like books would never understand technology. This sounded ridiculous to Levi because for him books and technology complimented each other. He grew curious about technology only through books. 

He knew he had to get in to SavvyTalks. This was the only organisation in the city that stood out among all the startups considering how awesome the Chief Executive Officer of the company was.

Levi lay on Nelsee’s bed lost in thought while Nelsee sat clearing up the drawer. She found the book she had taken from Levi the other day and looked at Levi holding up the book. Levi’s eyes 

Were shut. Nelsee found this sight extremely pleasant. Levi looked calm and at peace. This was not the look she had seen in days. Nelsee put the book back into the drawer and leaned forward to kiss his forehead. 

Levi felt the warmth and wrapped his arms around her instantly. They just lay there silent hearing one another breathe. There was absolute silence with the exception of the pulse of their heartbeats and deep relaxed breaths. Levi knew he was holding his love in her arms. He knew this is where he wanted to be. 

Levi had a very simple approach towards life. He wanted very few things, he was not a materialistic human being. He had all the money and luxuries he had while growing up which made him look beyond the things that could be bought with money. This humility and desire to embrace something deeper and more valuable than those that could be bought with money is something not all rich people possessed. This was one big quality Nelsee fell for as she got to know him better. 

Nelsee rested her head on his chest softly, and gently started playing with Levi’s hair. Nelsee knew she was content. Yes, her life was a mess. Yes she had a terrible past. Yes she was confused, but that moment was pure and simple and could not be replaced with any other moment ever! 

The two young souls were at peace and this peace had warmth and comfort and breaths and heartbeats. The moment was real. The moment was pure. 

That was the moment they knew they wanted each other and only each other. Levi gently moved and placed his palm on Nelsee’s cheek and said, “ Baby, do you know we have been lying down like this for the past twenty minutes?” 

Nelsee looked deep into his eyes. She smiled and blinked indicating that she knew that they had been silent for a long time just feeling each other. Levi took a deep breath and spoke. 

“Nelsee, you are special to me. I don’t know how I happened to cross paths with you, I just feel so lucky to have met you.”

Levi teared up a little bit. He collected his thoughts and spoke again.

“Nelsee, you know I consider you my only human priority. I have a mother who does not bother about maintaining relationships, I have a father who is always so caught up at work that he does not get the time or the head space to think about his family.” 

“A part of the reason why my mother got involved with another man was because my father was unavailable for her when my mother had a weak moment. He was too busy earning for the family that he forgot that his presence would have earned much much more than he did at work” 

“My father is a loving and caring human being, but the worst things happened when he got too involved at his work. Nelsee, I dread becoming like that. I do not want to become that person who loses his family because he gets caught up in something that can earn him money.”

“I don’t want to lose Nelsee”, Levi thought. 

 Nelsee was listening to each and every word Levi had to say. She was so overwhelmed to hear everything he said that she went speechless and teared up. As tears started rolling down her cheeks, Levi gave her a loving peck on her forehead. Nelsee said, “hey, why don’t you start living here?” “Just speak to your dad and move out. You do not have a reason to go home. Staying here can help you focus better on your interview because you will be at peace and will help you prepare for your interview at Savvytalks anyway.”

Levi replied, Yes baby I have been thinking of doing the same. I need to get a few books here and then I am good to go. I am going to leave in the evening and meet my dad in his study area and tell him that I would want to leave. I don’t know if I should tell him about mom though. They hardly talk to each other even when they are in the same house. They are in different rooms and there is absolute silence in the house, he would not even know if my mom brought her boyfriend into the house. She has probably bribed the watch man and maids at home to keep their mouth shut. 

Nelsee replied, "Well I believe your mom could reveal it to your dad. They are both unhappy in their marriage and it is the best idea to wait for your mother to inform your father about her involvement with the other man. 

Levi nodded and smiled at Nelsee. 

“So, it is decided. I am your new roommate”, Levi winked at her playfully. Nelsee replied, "You better split the rent 60-40 or no sex.” They had a good laugh at the lame jokes that went back and forth. They hugged and snuggled deeper into each other.
