Everything Must Be Perfect

It had already been a month since Luna was born and Issabella seemed to be doing well for herself. She needed to start working soon enough though, or else she and her baby would be in a tight position. Although Gabriella was more than happy to help with anything at all, she didn't want to feel like she was imposing on her and abusing her kindness. She decided to ask for Gabriella's help on getting a job. She started to prepare dinner and waited for Gabriella to come back from campus. Then she asked her. "Gabi, do you think you can help me find a new job? I need something domestic, so that I'd still be able to spend more time with Luna." "Oh, okay, give me a few days, I'll ask around." "Thanks Gabi." "You know you could still work with Teddy, right ? Or anywhere else, I'd be more than happy to take care of Luna." "I know Gabi, and I appreciate it. " The two enjoyed their dinner and retired to bed. Isabella woke up the next day with an awful feeling. She felt like something was wrong, but she didn't know exactly what it was. She ran double check-ups on Gabriella and Luna. Both were fine . She called Tiffany and everything was fine with her too. But still the feeling remained. Little did she know, that on the other side of the world, she was being groomed for her betrothal. "Are you sure this is going to work honey? " Mr. Bennet asked his wife. "Of course, I've already told you this a million times. Ivy has already agreed and Doctor Sturgis has everything in place. Everything has to be perfect, Darling." Her husband turned to the younger lady in the waiting area who, before today, was just their servant. "Are you sure you want this, Ivy? There's no turning back." "I'm sure father." She was already assuming her role. Mrs. Bennet was simply delighted. "Remember Harry, everything must be perfect." She said as she turned to her husband. The man just nodded. He was uncomfortable with the whole idea, but he was in no position to go against his wife. He loved her so much. They waited for half an hour, before the doctor called them into his office. They got down to business as soon as they settled down. "Okay, this is going to cost you a lot this time, Merrill. " The doctor said to Miss Bennet "I know Sturgis. Just do it quickly." "Wait, what do you mean by 'this time' doctor?" "I'll tell you about it later honey. But believe me, Sturgis has done this a lot of times. He's an expert." Her husband simply nodded and decided to stay silent. "Okay, so what will be the story here ?" The doctor asked. Merril let out a hysterical laugh, clearly amused by her own brilliance. She looked at Ivy and urged her to speak. "I will have the surgery, while my parents ..." A smile played on her lips as she said the word 'Parents' . Not even in her wildest dreams, did she think of this shiny silver platter being handed to her with absolutely everything. "...well, my parents will tell everyone I had an accident, and I am receiving treatment out of state. That would buy me more than enough time to recover from the surgery. I'll tell anyone who cares to know that the change in my voice is due to the accident. And afterward, I will be betrothed to the young Dalton heir. " "Perfect! Just perfect!" Merril exclaimed. It seemed she meant it when she said she would marry her daughter off to the Daltons. All she had to do was to convince her maid to play the role. And she just jumped at the offer. The doctor nodded and shifted his gaze to Harry. "You've been awfully quiet Harry, what is it?" The doctor finally asked. "It's nothing, Sturgis. I just hope there's nothing to worry about and everything will be as perfect as my wife wants. " The doctor smiled and assured him that there was nothing to worry about. "I have already studied the picture you gave me, Merrill. Everything would be fine. You can go now. Your daughter will be out of surgery tomorrow. And with a few adjustments and touches, it would take a total of three months , before she's perfect. Just as you want, Merrill." "Oh, thank you Sturgis. Here's your cash. And you had better make sure that your friend, the officer, has enough evidence to support our 'accident' in case we need to provide some I'm the future. " "Don't worry Merrill. Everything will be perfect. " The doctor said and winked at her. She smiled back, before leaving with her husband. It was a long ride home. Harry hadn't spoken a word. He still wondered what the doctor meant when he said 'this time'. He managed to keep his cool until they got home and he finally questioned his wife. "Okay Merril, what did the doctor mean by 'this time?' " He questioned impatiently. Merril rolled her eyes. "Well, if you must know Harry, my poor dead sister did something awful. She had fallen in love with an abusive man who also happened to be a fraud. One day, during his many assaults on her, she stabbed him with a knife. Of course, it was self-defense. But the fact remained she killed a man. And she would go to prison." Harry felt sorry for his poor wife who had begun to cry. He gently hugged her and patted her on the back. Merril seemed to calm down a bit, and she continued with her story. "Well, she came to me, and told me what happened. She was so scared, and I couldn't let her go to prison for defending herself. So I reached out to a friend to help us flee from the country. But she suggested a better idea and introduced me to Sturgis. And Sturgis transformed my sister into a new person." She finally ended. Then started to cry all over again. Her husband hugged her and apologized for the manner in which he had spoken to her earlier. A smile drew on her lips. But it wasn't because of the comfort her husband was giving her. It was because she actually managed to convince her husband. Her poor sister, may God rest her soul, did no such thing . It was all her. It was her story, but her sister wasn't there to defend herself. So, why not put the blame on her sister? She silently asked herself. Her husband pulled away and kissed her on the forehead before apologizing again to his wife. She simply smiled and assured him that there was nothing to worry about. "Don't worry, my love. " She said with a broad smile. "From this day, everything will be perfect. "
