Thursday, 17th November 1442 "Alright men, let's get airborne and get those abominations that are walking on our lands before they do any other damage that would be much worse than what the Guardian had suffered just now." I beckoned for the captain and the aircrewmen to shut the ramp and get the airship 911 Lightning airborne as fast as possible since the soft pork ribs are still waiting for me at home. No, seriously... These abominations need to be dealt with utmost caution since they could inflict not only wounds but also their dripping drool could even scorch the lands. Just imagine that their saliva could even burn a hole on the ground and not only on the poor Guardian's body...! The captain of the airship saluted to us when the ramp was secured by one of the aircrewmen and the mooring lines had been untethered from the ground. The lines were quickly pulled back into the airship as the captain cranked the propellers and put the airship into gear. Very soon, the airship had lifted off and was climbing to clear the top of the protective membrane of our dome as it traverses out of the clearing and heads out towards the direction of Hellsgate. The 12 AAV had already moved out on the ground and most probably would be at the site where they had encountered the three-headed hellhounds as well as the lava monsters. They would be waiting at a safe distance and act as a lookout and for the arrival of the airship. The captain of the airship gunned the engines and proceeded to head to the direction of a Hellsgate at full speed. I could almost imagine that my children were watching the airship lift off from the ground as it headed to its destination. "Altitude 50 feet off the ground and moving at an airspeed of approximately 50 miles an hour. We should be there slightly over an hour, Your Majesty...!" the captain of the airship hollered out amidst the howling winds that came through the slit windows as the airship gathered speed and made a beeline towards our destination. I peeked out from the slit windows and discovered that the sun was going to set in about 2 hours time as the sky had turned into greyish blue on the horizons. This doesn't seem to good at all since we would only have an hour of skirmish time left and then there would be nothing else to see except darkened lands all over the place. "Hey captain, have you ever traversed this airship in the night before? We're losing daylight pretty soon and we won't want us to be moving about in the dark and be flying around for hours, in the end, trying to find out way back." I hollered out to the captain as the latter was laughing at me. Basically, I might not have heard of a compass before so I was beckoned to the bow area where the captain was traversing the large steering wheel of the airship. "We got this compass and presently we are heading in this direction and when we go back, it would be in the opposite direction." "It would be alright for you not to know of these things because only the adventurers they had gone through the map charting course would know about these things." I looked at the brass coloured device on the dashboard of the now and saw that the direction it pointed was heading southwards. Well, simple things like this shouldn't need to be told and learnt since it's quite a standard thing just by merely looking at it. =*= An hour or so had passed by and the captain of the airship slowed down and was cruising along just above the canopy of the treetops. "ETA in 15 minutes, boys." "Get ready your bows and arrows. Your Majesty, you need to get ready as well. The AAV is now in a position to take out any of the hellhounds they would be approaching them." "We would be the biggest bait ever in the sky and the hellhounds and lava monsters would be brought towards us as the AAV archers would be ready to rain hell on them." The captain of the airship alerted us as the archers got their concussive explosive arrowheads ready while I removed the bow from my back and chose the similar arrowhead as well. From the slit windows, it would be pretty difficult for me to undermine the position of where Hellsgate was. But I'm sure the Frost Burn Arrow this time would not fail me. I would use the concussive arrowhead instead of the normal armour piercing arrowhead since this would have a greater impact on the lava monsters. As the airship was nearing Hellsgate, Priestess Talladrin had shrouded the airship with the same type of cloud so, from the ground below, the airship would look like any harmless floating cloud that would shoot down pain and even bring an end to their very existence. "Would you be shooting any arrows out from the butt of this airship, Your Majesty? I could get the aircrewmen to lower the ramp a bit for you so that you could have a better aim at the lava monsters below." "That a cool idea, boss. You don't have to move in reverse right now. Just bring the airship to circle the area so that I could rain as many arrows down to those bastards." I reckoned to the captain of the airship as he nodded his head and gestured to one of the aircrewmen to lower the ramp just a bit so that I could crouch and shoot from behind. This is how things work in the airship. The captain is the King of all Kings when it comes to being in the air as he was the one who commanded it and ensures the safety of all on board. Once he is on the ground with his two feet planted on the ground, he would have to listen to me and the rest of the total family members. Right now, I cannot just point my fingers and wag at them to follow my commands except only during the session where the archers would unleash their arrows to the ground targets below. "Thanks, Cap. Alright... I need someone to secure a rope around my waist like the other time. I won't be using fireballs this time but I'm sure gonna hurt those bastards below well and hard. I just want them to feel pain before they perish from the face of this earth...!" I hollered out and I found that my adrenaline was really pumped up that time. I knew that the time for the lava monsters would be up real soon...! I nocked my arrow into my bow and removed the safety cotton from the gaps. This would make the arrowhead to be primed and ready to be unleashed. =*= "ARCHING SHOT" "FROST BURN ARROWS" "GO FOR THEIR EYES" "STACK" I shouted these commands through a transmitting Sigil and everyone could hear my commands very well. It took between 3 to 5 seconds to prepare the spell and once I'm done I released my full drawn drawstring as the arrow swooshed out from the rear and went straight for the sky...! I saw a glimpse of something huge and fiery orange down below and I suspected it to be a lava monster and so I quickly commanded the skill and unleash the first volley of fury out from the arse of the airship...! *SSWWOOOOSSSSHH* *BOOM* The arrow was normal when it was first unleashed but it turned fiery blue in colour once it had reached its c****x. I knew that the arrow had targeted the lava monsters below as the captain of the airship slowly traversed around the area at about 15° angle so that it would be moving around in a large arc. The bluish tip arrow quickly rushed to the ground below before it hit its intended target as a large explosion could be heard and followed by many others since the 24 archers had unleashed their arrows a second later the moment mine was unleashed. Darkness soon fell around the area as the sun dipped way below the horizon. "This is way too fast for the sun to go down in the western hemisphere...! How am I going to target those beasts if I can't see them at all from here...!" I thought to myself as the occupants inside the airship were crying out loud in joy when they discovered that their first lava monster that was being targeted by me had turned into ice and had broken up into many pieces due to the impact and explosions of the other arrows that ensued. "Archers on both port and starboard, stay on the lookout for the other 3 more lava monsters that may be hiding under the foliage. Report in...!" The captain of the airship hollered his instructions and everyone aye in unison. A few moments later, an archer chimed in, "Captain, report. Possible sightings. 2 o'clock. Starboard...!" the moment I heard the report coming in, I immediately nocked my concussive explosive arrowhead on my bow and got ready to issue the bow attack command. Starboard 2 o'clock means that the lava monster is on the right-hand side of the airship's view and the 2 o'clock means the directional of where the lava monster would be. If it is directly abreast to the airship it would be 3 o'clock and if it is at the rest of the airship it would be 6 o'clock instead. They regularly used this so I could imagine that the lava monster would soon follow the directional flow of the clock and it would soon be able to be seen from the aft of the airship. "Get ready boys...!" "ARCHING SHOT" "FROST BURN ARROWS" "GO FOR THEIR EYES" "STACK" Once again, I let loose an arrow and a few seconds later the rest of the 24 arrows followed its lead as all the arrows turned fiery blue in colour and left after images through its trajectory's flight towards the earth. Not just a single arrow swooshed down and hit its target but a total of 25 arrows followed suit in a single point of contact...! Each arrow entered through the same targeted area and it diminishes the lava monster to be like a form of an icy statue from the top down. The molten lava monster tried to move its body, arms and legs to turn and move away once its head had been pierced with 25 of those Frost Burn Arrows. As the molten lava monster slowly turned into a large popsicle, the ankles broke from the ground first as it tried to force itself to walk away. Crippled by its own self, the weight of the body slowly brought the lava monster to the ground where the concussive explosion of the arrowheads brought it to a total halt. The blast from the top-down disintegrates the lava monster that had turned into a large popsicle to be strewn across the forested floor. Fortunately, these small pieces of popsicles did not turn into mini lava monsters and we had managed to exterminate two of them and now was on the lookout for the elusive last one they might be lurking around playing hide and seek with us. If only we could just unleash the arrow without first visualising them, then it would solve the whole matter indefinitely. As our airship slowly circled out the whole of Hellsgate, the archers were busying themselves by taking out every single hellhound around the area as they took their turns to blast one after another in succession. Since it would just need a single concussive explosive arrowhead to take one hellhound down, the archers conserve the use of the said arrows and switched to the normal armour-piercing ones where they rained hell from both the port and starboard side of the airship. "INCOMING...!" Suddenly we heard the crackle over the listening Sigil as the AAV had discovered the last lava monster they had barged out from its comfort zone and gave chase after the speedy AAV. =*= Dear friends, if you spot any errors, please leave your comments in the paragraphs or the chapter section.
