Chapter 6
Chloepatra's POV
"You stupid b*tch! How dare you?"
I was so disgusted by the sight of her that I wanted to hit her so badly. My expensive Versace boots were stained, and I couldn't believe what had just happened.
"I'm sorry. I'm gonna get it cleaned up," she said nervously while trying to wipe my boots.
"The spill ain't coming off. I'm—"
I was so upset and freaked out that I wanted to do something. Before I could even think properly, I grabbed her hair and slapped her across the cheek.
She fell hard onto the floor.
"Ouuu!"
Other students gasped in amazement, their eyes widening as they watched us.
Instead of feeling embarrassed, I felt even more delighted. The look on everyone's faces made me feel powerful and proud of myself.
I bent down and grabbed her hair tightly.
"Listen, b*tch."
She looked terrified.
"Next time, watch where you're going, or learn not to keep your eyes in your pockets so you won't trip again."
I immediately let go of her hair.
"Awwn, precious Nina is in pain. Humpty Dumpty is so helpless," I said mockingly to my other girls.
Patricia laughed.
"Oohhh my G! She's so rawww!"
"Whattt? Yh, gurlll!" I replied, confused about what she meant but deciding to accept it anyway.
I adjusted my bag on my shoulder.
"Bye, baby doll. Girls, let's go."
"Bye, baby girl," Ivana said in a jesting manner.
We all laughed as we walked away.
Five Minutes Later
A girl was sitting at our desk when we returned.
I was about to walk over to her when she suddenly noticed us and ran off.
I rolled my eyes.
"She's so stupid. Peeps ain't knowing their place anymore in this academy," Ivana said.
I dropped my bag on the desk.
"I'm so pissed off right now."
"Hell ya," Ivana replied. "That girl who goes by the name Nina is such a frustrating agent. Gosh!"
"Yh, so frustra—" I paused and sighed. "Well, I'm not pissed because of that."
"Oops, my bad," Ivana said.
Patricia immediately turned toward me.
"So what's wrong, girl? Spill it out."
I folded my arms.
"It's my man. He got arrested. I'm so upset right now."
Ivana's eyes widened.
"Wait, which one?"
I stared at her.
"Ivana, don't you get it?"
She scratched her head.
"Wait... oh my days! Orion is arrested? Or wait, don't tell me it's Jimmy, or Eddie, Robert, Jason, orrr—"
"Shut uppp!" Patricia and I shouted in chorus.
Ivana immediately stopped talking.
"Oh, oh."
She finally understood that none of the names she mentioned were the person I was talking about.
"Well, tell us his name," Patricia said impatiently.
I rolled my eyes.
"You guys know who I'm talking about. It's my man with the letter I've always crushed on."
Ivana and Patricia looked at each other.
"Wait, then, if it's not R, which is Regaleon, then who could that be?" they both asked in a rhythmic tone.
I stared at them for a few seconds.
"You girls are seriously slow."
"Then tell us!" Ivana complained.
I leaned closer to them and lowered my voice.
"It's—"
"Chloepatra!"
I froze.
The voice came from behind me.
I turned around and saw one of the girls from our class standing there.
"What?" I snapped.
She looked nervous.
"Um... I think you dropped this."
She stretched her hand toward me.
I looked down.
It was my phone.
I quickly took it from her.
"Thanks."
She nodded and walked away.
I looked at my phone.
There was a notification.
My eyes narrowed.
An unknown number had sent me a message.
Unknown Number: I know what happened.
I frowned.
"What the heck?"
Patricia leaned closer.
"What happened?"
"Nothing."
I quickly locked my phone.
Ivana raised an eyebrow.
"Girl, don't 'nothing' us. You literally just changed your whole face."
"I said it's nothing."
Patricia crossed her arms.
"Chloepatra, we know you. Spill."
I sighed and unlocked my phone again.
Another message appeared.
Unknown Number: You should stop asking questions about him.
My heart skipped.
I stared at the screen.
"Who is it?" Ivana asked.
"I don't know."
Another message came through.
Unknown Number: You don't know what you're getting yourself into.
I immediately looked around the classroom.
Everyone seemed normal.
Some students were talking.
Others were laughing.
A few were scrolling through their phones.
Nobody seemed to be paying attention to me.
"Could it be a prank?" Patricia asked.
"Maybe," I replied.
But deep down, I didn't believe that.
I looked at the number again.
There was something about the message that felt different.
It wasn't playful.
It sounded like a warning.
I quickly put my phone away.
"Forget it."
"Forget it?" Ivana repeated. "Someone just texted you mysteriously and you're saying forget it?"
"It's probably nothing."
I stood up.
"I'm going to the restroom."
Patricia grabbed my arm.
"Wait. Are you sure you're okay?"
I pulled my arm away gently.
"I'm fine."
I walked out of the classroom.
The hallway was unusually quiet.
I took a deep breath and leaned against the wall.
I pulled out my phone again.
Another notification appeared.
I opened it.
My eyes widened.
It was a picture.
A picture of me.
I stared at it in shock.
It had been taken earlier that same day.
I could recognize the exact place where I had been standing.
Someone had been watching me.
My fingers tightened around my phone.
"What the...?"
I looked around the hallway.
Nobody.
I quickly looked back at the picture.
Then another message appeared.
Unknown Number: You really should leave Regaleon alone.
My heart dropped.
Regaleon.
So they knew exactly who I was talking about.
I typed quickly.
Me: Who are you?
The message showed as delivered.
But there was no reply.
I waited.
Nothing.
I typed again.
Me: How do you know about him?
Still nothing.
I was becoming impatient.
Then suddenly—
Unknown Number: Because I know what really happened.
I froze.
What really happened?
What were they talking about?
Everyone had been saying different things about Regaleon's arrest, but nobody seemed to know the full story.
I stared at the screen.
Then another message appeared.
Unknown Number: And if you continue digging, you'll find out something you were never supposed to know.
My breathing became heavier.
For the first time that day, I wasn't thinking about my boots.
I wasn't thinking about Nina.
I wasn't even thinking about my girls.
All I could think about was Regaleon.
What was he hiding?
And who was this mysterious person watching me?
Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming from the other end of the hallway.
I looked up.
Someone was approaching.
My heart began pounding.
The figure stopped at the corner.
I couldn't see their face clearly.
Then my phone vibrated one more time.
I looked down.
One final message appeared.
Unknown Number: Don't turn around.
I froze.
My eyes widened.
The footsteps behind me suddenly stopped.
And I realized something terrifying.
Someone was standing right behind me.
