Chapter 5
ALPHA REGALEON'S POV
"Sir, we need to leave this place before the police forces find us here. It isn't safe," Thaddeus said hurriedly, his eyes darting toward the enormous windows of the mansion.
"No. Such a thing will not happen. It is time for me to confront them," I replied firmly, my voice echoing through the room.
"But, Sir, it's risky," Thaddeus argued, his expression filled with concern.
I turned toward him and stared directly into his eyes.
"Risky?" I repeated. "People are out there waiting for me to clear these allegations against me. They have placed their trust in me. If I run or hide from the police, what will that make me look like?"
Thaddeus remained silent.
"Guilty," I answered for him. "Running away will only make these accusations seem believable. I know the truth, and I will not allow anyone to destroy my reputation with lies. All I know is that I must clear my name."
Thaddeus slowly nodded.
"That is true, Sir."
Before I could say anything else, a loud voice echoed from outside the mansion.
"Where is your boss?"
I immediately recognized the authoritative tone of a police officer.
"He isn't around," one of the security men replied, attempting to sound calm.
"Oh, I see."
The officer's response made it obvious that he didn't believe the security guard.
A few seconds later, another voice echoed through the enormous entrance of the mansion.
"Mr. Alpha Regaleon Doorson!"
The officer paused briefly before continuing.
"We are officers from the Crime-Free Police Station. Your attention is required downstairs."
A faint smile formed on my lips.
So they had finally arrived.
I walked toward the balcony overlooking the enormous entrance hall. From there, I could see several police officers standing near the gates.
My eyes immediately landed on the man standing at the front.
"Well, well, well," I said, leaning against the balcony railing. "Who do we have here?"
The officer looked up.
"Officer Williams," I continued with a dark smile. "Wow. What a surprise. How may I be of assistance?"
Officer Williams stared at me without smiling.
"I would suggest that we have a proper conversation, Mr. Doorson."
I understood exactly what he meant.
I straightened my posture.
"This is my house, Officer Williams. You don't command an Alpha King."
The officer remained calm.
"Yes, I have no right to command you," he replied. "But remember, when it comes to the law, nobody is above it."
I didn't wait for him to finish.
I turned away from the balcony and walked toward the staircase.
My footsteps echoed across the polished marble floor as I descended. Thaddeus followed closely behind me.
"Sir..." he whispered.
I raised one hand.
"Stay calm."
We reached the lower floor, and I headed toward the private elevator. The doors opened immediately.
I stepped inside, followed by Thaddeus.
The elevator carried us to the main entrance floor.
When the doors opened, I stepped out and walked toward the entrance. Two of my bodyguards were standing beside the enormous doors.
The moment they saw me, they stepped aside.
The doors opened.
I walked outside with confidence.
"Welcome, officers, to my elegant mansion," I said calmly. "I assume you didn't come all this way simply to admire the architecture."
Officer Williams didn't react to my sarcasm.
"We are here because of the allegations surrounding the death of Alpha Rodriguez."
My expression hardened.
"My precious father," I corrected him.
"Yes," Officer Williams replied. "We need you to come with us to the station for questioning."
A few of the officers moved forward.
Immediately, my bodyguards tensed.
The mansion staff exchanged nervous glances.
Even Thaddeus stepped forward.
"Sir, this is—"
I lifted my fingers.
Everyone stopped.
"No one moves," I ordered.
My bodyguards reluctantly stepped back.
I looked at Thaddeus.
He looked worried.
I gave him a small nod.
Don't worry.
I wasn't going to let fear control me.
Officer Williams watched the exchange carefully.
"You're cooperating?" he asked.
"I have nothing to hide," I replied.
His eyebrows rose slightly.
"Then you won't have a problem coming with us."
I smiled faintly.
"Of course not."
I turned toward the driveway.
"My car."
Officer Williams immediately shook his head.
"That won't be possible."
I stopped.
"And why is that?"
"For security reasons," he replied. "You will travel with us in a police vehicle."
I narrowed my eyes.
I didn't like being ordered around, but arguing over something so insignificant would only make the situation worse.
"Fine."
I walked toward the police vehicles.
As I passed my security team, I noticed the worried expressions on their faces.
One of them stepped forward.
"Alpha—"
I stopped him with a look.
"Protect the mansion. Do not follow us unless I give the order."
"Yes, Alpha."
I continued walking.
Thaddeus followed me until Officer Williams stopped him.
"He stays here."
I turned around.
"Thaddeus is my assistant."
"And he can remain here while we conduct our investigation."
I stared at Officer Williams for several seconds.
Then I looked at Thaddeus.
"Do not do anything foolish."
Thaddeus nodded.
"Yes, Sir."
I entered the police vehicle.
The door closed behind me.
For the first time that evening, the confidence on my face disappeared.
Not because I was afraid.
Because something about this situation felt wrong.
The allegations had appeared too suddenly.
The accusations against me had spread throughout the city within hours.
And now the police were standing at my mansion as though they already had enough evidence to suspect me.
Who had given them that information?
Who was behind all of this?
I looked through the window as the mansion slowly disappeared behind us.
My father's death had already shaken everything I had built.
But now someone was trying to use his death to destroy me.
I clenched my fists.
I would find out who was responsible.
The police vehicle drove through the crowded streets while several people stared at us.
Some whispered.
Others pointed.
A few even raised their phones.
News had already spread.
"That's Alpha Regaleon!"
"Is he being arrested?"
"Was he really involved in Alpha Rodriguez's death?"
I heard their voices through the closed windows.
My jaw tightened.
They were judging me without knowing the truth.
But I wouldn't blame them.
They had only heard one side of the story.
And whoever was spreading these allegations clearly wanted the entire world to believe I was guilty.
The vehicle suddenly slowed down.
I looked ahead.
The police station came into view.
Officer Williams glanced at me through the rearview mirror.
"Ready?"
I gave him a cold smile.
"I've been ready since the moment you arrived at my mansion."
The vehicle stopped.
The doors opened.
I stepped out.
A crowd had gathered outside the station.
Reporters.
Cameras.
People shouting questions.
"Alpha Regaleon!"
"Did you kill Alpha Rodriguez?"
"Are the allegations true?"
"Why were you at the mansion when the incident happened?"
I ignored every question.
My eyes remained fixed on the entrance of the police station.
But just before I stepped inside, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
I frowned.
Who would be calling me at a time like this?
I pulled out my phone.
There was a message from an unknown number.
UNKNOWN: You should never have come to the police station.
My heart sank.
I stared at the message.
Another text appeared almost immediately.
UNKNOWN: Because now you're walking straight into the trap.
I slowly lifted my head.
Officer Williams was standing several feet away, waiting for me.
I looked around the crowded station.
For the first time, I realized something.
Perhaps the police station wasn't where I was supposed to clear my name.
Perhaps it was exactly where someone wanted me to be.
