Chapter 7
Chloepatra's POV
"You stupid b***h, how dare you!"
The moment I looked down at my expensive Versace boots, my irritation shot through the roof. A huge stain was smeared across them, and I could barely stand the sight of it.
"I'm sorry. I'm gonna get it cleaned up," Nina said nervously as she immediately bent down and started trying to wipe the stain away.
"The spill ain't showing. I'm—"
I stopped myself, staring at her with disbelief.
How could someone be so careless?
My expensive boots were not something anyone could simply ruin and expect me to smile about it. Everyone around us had already started staring, whispering among themselves, but I didn't care.
I was too angry.
"Are you even looking at what you've done?" I snapped.
"I said I'm sorry," Nina whispered.
Her voice only made me more irritated.
Before I could think things through, I grabbed her by the hair and slapped her across the cheek. She stumbled and fell hard onto the floor.
A loud gasp escaped from the students around us.
"Ouuu!"
For a moment, the entire area went strangely quiet.
I stood over her, my anger still burning inside me. The attention from everyone around us only made me feel more powerful.
I bent down slightly and stared at her.
"Listen, bitch."
Nina looked up at me, clearly embarrassed and shaken.
"Next time, watch where you're going. Or learn not to keep your eyes in your pockets so you won't trip again."
I released her hair and straightened my clothes as if nothing had happened.
"Aww, precious Nina is in pain. Humpty Dumpty is so helpless," I mocked, turning toward my girls.
Patricia covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.
"Oohhh my God, she's so rawww," Patricia said.
"Whattt… yeah, gurlll," I replied, slightly confused by what she meant, but I didn't bother asking.
I glanced back at Nina one last time.
She was still sitting on the floor.
"Bye, baby doll. Girls, let's go."
"Bye, baby girl," Ivana said jokingly as we walked away.
We headed back toward our desks, laughing among ourselves. I could still hear a few students whispering behind us, but none of them dared to say anything directly to me.
Five minutes later, a girl came over and sat on our desk.
I narrowed my eyes at her.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Before I could reach for her, she quickly jumped down and ran away.
I rolled my eyes.
"She's so stupid. People ain't knowing their place anymore in this academy," Ivana said.
I dropped into my seat, still annoyed.
"I'm so pissed off right now."
"Hell yeah," Ivana agreed. "That girl that goes by the name Nina is such a frustrating agent. Goshhh!"
"Yeah, so frustrating…" I muttered.
I paused.
"Well, I'm not pissed because of that."
Ivana immediately turned toward me.
"Oops, my bad," she said.
Patricia leaned closer.
"So what's wrong, girl? Spill it out."
I sighed heavily.
"It's my man. He got arrested, and I'm so upset right now."
Both of them froze.
"Wait, which one?" Ivana asked, her eyebrows lifting in confusion.
I stared at her.
"Ivana, don't you get it?"
She placed a finger against her chin as if she were seriously trying to solve some complicated mystery.
"Wait… oh my days! Orion is arrested? Or wait…" She gasped dramatically. "Don't tell me it's Jimmy. Or Eddie. Robert? Jason? Orrr…"
"Shut up!" Patricia and I shouted at the same time.
Ivana immediately stopped.
"Oh, oh."
She looked between us, finally realizing that none of those names were the person I was talking about.
Patricia shook her head.
"You're seriously unbelievable."
"What? I was just guessing!" Ivana defended herself.
"Well, tell us his name," Patricia said, looking at me curiously.
I hesitated.
They already knew there was one particular guy I had always talked about. The one whose name I had mentioned more times than I could count.
"You guys know it's my man with the letter I've always crushed on."
Ivana's eyes widened.
Patricia suddenly looked interested too.
"The letter you've always crushed on?" Patricia repeated.
"Exactly."
Ivana started thinking again, tapping her fingers against the desk.
"Okay, okay. Let me get this straight."
She looked at Patricia before looking back at me.
"You're talking about someone whose name starts with a particular letter?"
I nodded.
"Yes."
Patricia folded her arms.
"Well, that definitely narrows it down."
Ivana suddenly gasped.
"Wait!"
I rolled my eyes.
"What now?"
"If it's not R…"
She paused dramatically.
"Which is Regaleon…"
Patricia's eyes widened as she immediately caught on.
"Then who could that be?"
Ivana and Patricia looked at each other before saying together in a strangely rhythmic tone,
"Then who could that be?"
I stared at them both, feeling my patience slowly disappear.
"You two are seriously annoying."
Patricia laughed.
"Then stop keeping us in suspense!"
Ivana leaned closer, waiting for my answer.
"Come on, Chloepatra. Tell us already."
I looked away, biting the inside of my cheek.
There was something about saying his name aloud that made the whole situation feel more serious.
He wasn't just some random guy.
He was the one I had always been interested in.
And now he was arrested.
My fingers tightened around the edge of the desk.
"I don't even know what I'm supposed to do right now," I finally admitted.
The playful expressions on their faces slowly faded.
Patricia looked at me carefully.
"Is it really that serious?"
I nodded.
"You have no idea."
Ivana sat beside me.
"Okay, girl. Then tell us everything. What happened?"
I took a deep breath.
For once, I wasn't interested in gossip, teasing, or showing off.
My mind was completely occupied by one thing.
Him.
And the fact that he was sitting somewhere behind bars while I was stuck here, unable to do anything about it.
"I just need to know what happened to him," I whispered.
Patricia exchanged a glance with Ivana.
"Then we'll figure it out."
I looked at them.
"You really think so?"
"Of course," Patricia said confidently.
Ivana nodded.
"Besties don't leave each other hanging."
A small smile appeared on my face.
Maybe they were right.
But deep down, I still had a terrible feeling that there was much more behind his arrest than I knew.
And whatever the truth was, I was determined to find out.
