Pt. 5

Kiara pov

I froze as I stared at the mutilated lifeless body in front of me.

Mandy, what did they do to you?" I whispered to myself as I inched closer to my fallen friend. Whoever did this made sure to cover their tracks well. There was no scent of another wolf nearby or any footsteps to track them with. Almost as if this attack was well formulated and intentional.

'Question is, did they find what they came here for?' Aria interrupted my thoughts.

I have no idea, but if Mandy managed to make it down here, then maybe the girls are still safe

As an Alpha's daughter I was always a target to any enemy of the pack so when we moved away from the safety of the packhouse, I made sure to have a safe place for the pups and I to hide. I headed towards the farthest corner of the basement and opened the hatch door expertly covered by a detachable shelf.

Please goddess let them be safe. I prayed

I sighed in relief when the scent of chocolate and gummy bears hit my nostrils before the door was opened fully.

"Mommy!" My girls screeched.

"Oh my goddess, i was so worried about the two of you. I'm so glad to see your safe," I cried as I squeezed both of them in my arms.

"Well what about me," a familiar deep voice replied sarcastically, " Aren't you glad to see me, mate?"

I rolled my eyes before I could stop myself and stared at him. He didn't seem to be hurt but there was a slight scent to him that I didnt recognize. He must've noticed me staring cause he started to smirk at me in his usual cocky way.

"What's the matter mate? Like what you see?," he responded winking his eyebrows up and down at me flashing his devilishly charming smile.

"Ugh no. I want to know what happened, and why you're while Mandy is de....not here." I caught myself

Hallie gave me a look that let me know she knew what I was about to say but quickly masked it so her sister wouldnt get upset.

"Yea daddy, where did mandy go? She said she would be back and then you came?" Sami asked before stuffing a handful of gummy bears in her mouth.

Silence.

"She went home," Hallie blurted out of nowhere. Andy and I looked at each other then at Sami and nodded.

"Yes, she went back to her mother. Don't worry Sami, Mandy is free," I replied trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall down my face.

Sami nodded and gave me another tight hug. I glanced at Hallie and motioned for her to joined. For someone so young, she was already so strong and smart for her age. I felt her tears wet against my shirt and ran my hands through her hair.

"It's ok girls. We will be ok"

'Whoever did this is going to pay!' Aria growled in my head in anger.

You're damn right they are. Even if I have to kill them myself.

The sorrow in my heart for my friend filled with rage.

We need to go see my dad. NOW! I mindlinked Andy.
