The release bell rung loud and clear causing tons of kids to rush out the school house. Tom waited until the class was out before he walked out with a sigh.
"Hey, can I talk to you"? Jack asked.
He turned and nodded a little looking at him.
"Yeah, what is it "? He asked.
He didn't speak, but grabbed his arm leading him further down the hall. He was ok with it, it wasn't like he couldn’t walk home. But it was that scent coming off him. Like he needed him or something. He yanked his arm free and stopped dead in his tracks.
"Here is good enough. What, do you want to make sure what happened earlier have nothing to do with your status or something? I don't care, just act like it never happened".
"No, that isn't it at all. I have to know something. So, what's your name"?
"You should know that. Why are you wanting to know more"?
"Your true name. I saw it. I saw what you was going to do".
Tom stared in horror. He couldn't know what he was. No human would know what would of happened with his switch of eye color. They would think it was just lens or something. But he was speaking as if he knew what it was. That couldn't possibly be something that he knows.
"I don't understand what your talking about". Tom snapped.
"But your...I...".
"You two! Do you do something after school"?! A teacher asked.
Tom shook his head no and rushed away from Jack. That was a close call. He bust out the doors and went running towards the house. He couldn't have known unless he was the second half of him. He shook his head as he crossed the street and rushed inside.
"Tom! What is it"? His mother asked startled from his rude hello.
"Sorry, mom I have to speak to you please".
"Whats wrong? Did someone mess with you or something"?
"No, nothing like that. Just...me being this ice...".
"Tom I don't know why you want to bring that up. I told you, there is no need for such speaking. That curse won't get in the way".
"Mom...".
"No don't speak about it. I know your thinking that I don't know what I'm talking about but I do".
"No wait you don't understand...".
"I do. You...".
"Mom please listen to me"!
His mother soft smile removed from her face as she stared at him. He bowed his head slightly and closed his eyes with a sigh.
"Go on". She softly spoke.
"It was about school. I swore I scent a fir...".
"Fire! your right"!
He looked at her a little hopeful before it vanished. Her eyes was stared out the window with fear in them. He turned around and gasp seeing a house in flames. It blazed large and seemed out of control. People begin to gather gasping and yelling if anyone was inside. He knew that wasn't a normal fire. To him, it just couldn't. He looked harder and turned his head seeing Jack walking down the road with no attention to the burning house.
"Jack...you can't be".
