I will admit I was a little surprised coming down that first morning and seeing Ian already at the breakfast table with Damien and Aiden, but it felt nice having him around, normal almost. After the last warning from the Moon Goddess, Aiden and Damien have stepped up more patrols around the territory and I feel like I’m back full swing with my dad learning the role of Alpha.
I’ve been training twice, sometimes three times a day; usually with Damien or Aiden or both in the morning before heading into the office. They’ve been including me with their current trades and dealing with other packs as well as going over more war strategies.
Beta Keegan has been helping teach me, along with Beta Zeke, about how to run and manage their fleet of warriors and how to best use each to their specific roles. He goes over his reasoning for placing patrol how he does when you have a territory as large to cover as they do. He has been more than helpful with my training, but rarely did I physically do any fight training with him, I get more than enough fight training between my mates and Ian.
Then in the afternoons, Ian would take me home and we would train. Usually, we would run and let our wolves out for a bit, even fighting with our wolves at times, before shifting and fighting in human form as well. We worked a lot more on expanding that connection between my wolf and me as far as becoming one in a fight regardless of which form we took. I was learning so much so quickly.
I always really enjoying training and spending time with Ian, and that made me feel guilty. I have two incredible, kind, wonderful mates but yet I couldn’t deny feeling something for Ian. I couldn’t explain it to myself, and I couldn’t bring myself to tell Damien or Aiden about my feelings. I didn’t want to hurt them, and I didn’t want them to hold any ill feelings for Ian because honestly, he’s been one of the first and best friends I’ve made since coming to Blood Moon.
As much as I enjoyed this new routine though, I felt like I was constantly being babysat. I wasn’t allowed to go anywhere without Aiden, Damien, or Ian by my side. I understood it and I went along with it because I knew it would make them feel better, but I also wanted to go back into the city and go visit the towns and go meet the members of this pack, because after tonight, I would be their Luna after all.
This morning when I woke up, there was no training, no planned visits to the office. I sat in my bedroom, my mates long gone as several Omegas did my hair and makeup. I watched in the mirror as they curled my hair and carefully pinned it up into place. It has been a while since I can say I’ve seen myself this dolled up before, this was always Emberly’s thing, not mine growing up.
“Look up for me please Luna” one of the girls said as she applied some concealer under my eyes. I’m sure I look tired; truth was I didn’t get much sleep but not so much due to nerves as it was staying up all night and making love to my mates.
Shortly after there was a knock on the bedroom door bringing my thoughts back to the present and in came Lisa with a garment bag jumping and down with excitement.
“Good morning, Luna!” she said with a quick bow, “My Goddess you look beautiful! Are you ready to see your dress?!”
“As ready as I’ll ever be!”
Lisa unzipped the garment bag and I heard myself and the Omegas behind me all gasp.
“Lisa! It’s stunning! You’re amazing!”
The dress Lisa had designed was crimson red in color, Blood Moon’s signature pack color, accented with gold lace all throughout. It looked like it was made for royalty!
“Are you sure it’s not too much?” I ask, realization hitting me.
“Not at all! It is a perfect fit for a Luna. Come let’s try it on.”
The dress of course was a perfect fit and standing back admiring myself in the mirror, I had to admit that I looked pretty damn good.
“How do you feel?”
“I actually feel like a Luna.” I replied. Which was true, since I’ve arrived, I’ve felt more like a warrior and an Alpha then an actual Luna. It was a nice feeling. I couldn’t help myself as I turned and embraced Lisa in the biggest hug.
“Thank you, Lisa,” I said with all sincerity.
She wiped a tear from her eye. “You are most welcome my dear, now let’s get a move on, it’s gonna be a busy day! Your mates are already there waiting."
She walked me down the stairs and towards the front door where Ian was waiting outside by his car to take me to the hall. Ian was all dressed up in a nicely fitted black tux, his hair was gelled back and styled. When Ian turned around and first saw me, the expression on his face made my heart soar. He looked me up and down taking me all in, but very quickly his facial expression changed.
“You look incredible Cam, are you ready to go?”
His reply was short and very matter of fact. He opened the passenger door for me and waved to Lisa as we all headed out towards town.
Ian didn’t speak to me the rest of the car ride, which was unusual and kind of stung to be honest. I wish I knew what was going on with him. To make matters weirder, when we arrived at the hall, he helped me out of the car and then when I started to head inside, he didn’t follow.
“Aren’t you coming?” I asked, feeling a little unsure
“I will, I just need to check on some things first.” He said before leaving me by the side door and heading out around the building. Why is he acting so strange?
Lisa comes up behind me and opens the doors, taking me into the massive hall that has since been decorated floor to ceiling. The building was unrecognizable since the first time she showed it to me. The inside was lined long with tables filled with gorgeous centerpieces. Red curtains draped over all the windows. She had managed to turn this into something I couldn’t have even dreamed up.
She escorted me to the back of the hall to a dressing room where we would wait until the Ceremony began. The longer I began to sit here, the more nervous I became.
“What if the pack doesn’t like me?” I blurted out at Lisa
She reached over taking my hand, “My dear, they will love you!” she said reassuring me with a warm smile. “Don’t worry, all of this talk will settle down the more the people get to know you.”
“Wait. . . . What talk? What are you talking about?” a harsh feeling of dread crept over me.
“Oh dear, forget I said anything. It’s nothing for you to worry about, especially not today.” I could tell she was back tracking. There was something she didn’t want to tell me.
“Lisa please tell me?” I plead, and when I still see her hesitate, I further add “I could command you to tell me.” Hearing that she finally nods and starts talking
“It really is nothing dear, just a lot of talk about what happened with Alpha Stephen that dreadful night, people aren’t really sure what to make of it and your mates aren’t exactly being forthcoming with the details either which just has some people a bit frightened, that’s all. But once everything settles down, I’m sure it will be fine.”
Her words weren’t exactly comforting. Is this why they wouldn’t let me go into the city or to the towns to explore? Did Aiden and Damien know that their members were possibly frightened of me? My mind was racing with questions.
