Just The Three Of Us

My name is Maggie, I am 24 and a writer. I used to write pieces for a women's style magazine but I got bored and decided to write a novel. It turns out all I could write about was s*x so now I am a well known erotic novelist. My pen name is Madam M. I may not look like what an erotic novelist should look like but I was good at it. I also had a bit of experience in that area so I wasn't just using my imagination. I usually like to dress more reserved and comfortable. I always wondered if I wasn't already friends with my childhood BFF Aurora who I call Rory, would she be my friend now. She was beautiful and a model for goodness sake. I met her during 6th grade but she was two years younger than me because she is super smart and skipped two grades. She is pretty tall so she never looked out of place. Well, maybe she did because with her killer blue eyes and long honey blonde hair. She always stood out but in a good way. That's how she became a model. A modeling agent saw her at the clothing store we used to work at and asked her to come in and take some pictures. Soon after, she was booking lots of magazines, catalogs, and even commercials. She was a rock star, speaking of rock star we also have another best friend named Shay. Shay is crazy and wild. She is a s*x-crazed wild child. We met her at the clothing store we worked at. She got fired after only a month but we had bonded and kept hanging out with her. We have been friends with her for three years now but it feels like a lifetime and we are super close. As we speak, we are eating Chinese food, ramen, and sushi. I'm supposed to be telling you about me but I don't like talking about me. I don't like being the center of attention. Well, besides writing, I like watching sappy romantic movies. I like food and eating lots of it. I am really close to my mother especially after my dad died five years ago. She is always there for me to give me advice and brush my hair when I feel sad. She has been like a second mom to Rory and Shay. They loved her and she loved them. It's because of her though that we got into this mess and almost costs us our friendship. See my mom thinks I need a boyfriend. I have only ever had one relationship last more than a year. He cheated on me and made me think that I don't want to waste my time on any man who won't be the one. So I date them and if we get into a relationship I make sure it is long term, if not, then I bolt. I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't want to settle. I know I will find Mr. Right. I love the idea of love and love at first sight. Which is what I think happened to me. I saw the most handsome man I had ever seen a year ago. He took pictures for my first erotic visual book. He was the first man that didn't get overly excited at meeting me. He was so professional and sweet. He is one hell of a good photographer. All the pictures looked amazing. We stayed in contact and sometimes still see each other at events but we are just friends. His name is Andrew or Drew as I call him. I wish he was my guy and I wasn't having to be set up by my mom. I know she means well but she just doesn't get me sometimes. Funny thing is my mom and I are so close but she doesn't know the types of books I write. She still thinks I write for Women Now Magazine. I couldn't tell her what I did. I didn't know how she would react and I was terrified it would change our dynamic. What if she hated me after she found out. What if she was disappointed. I didn't like lying to her and keeping things from her but I think it was for the best. I have a new book I am working on. I guess this set up might at least help me get content for it. If not then Shay and her adventures are enough to keep me with new stories. So back to the girls night, "Pass the sushi," I said to Rory. "Why do you two like sushi," Shay complained. "It is so gross." "How can you say that about my little sushi roll," Rory said as she held it up to Shay's face. "How's the book going?" Rory asked. "Ugh, good I guess," I said honestly. "Maybe you need to put the laptop down and get that hands-on experience again," Shay winked. "I think you get enough for all of us," Rory joked. "Oh, even for you?" Shay teased. "Miss virgin over here, thinks I am having enough s*x for her to stay celibate forever." "Oh shut up," Rory said as she threw a pillow at Shay. Rory's phone started to ring and her BTS ringtone went off. "Why do you have that as your ringtone if it makes you not be able to pick the call up," Shay wondered. "I love this song," Rory said as she sang along to her ringtone. "Answer the phone," Shay said as she rolled her eyes. The phone stopped ringing but Rory went on her phone so she could play the song again. "Make it stop," Shay said to me. I laughed at the sight in front of me. Rory was singing into her hairbrush and dancing. Rory played another song and danced even more. "PLEASE, STOP," it was sufficient to say we had different tastes but we still loved each other nonetheless. Rory put on her headphones and sang her heart out. "THAT DOESN'T HELP!" Shay shouted.
