Episode 3

Anita’s POV

I never expected to see Alex in the club today, all I wanted to do was have fun with my bestie, Precious and my brother, Rex. Is that too much to ask for?

“Of all places to go, why would Alex come here? And not just alone, he also came along with his slut,” I lamented

Precious tried calming me as a good friend that she is, “I’m sorry this happened but don’t let this little drama spoil your mood, we came here to have fun, remember?”

“My mood is spoilt already, that b***h succeeded in doing that,” I said as my fingers curled into a fist.

Thank goodness Precious is a very good listener, I couldn’t help it so I kept on lamenting “I can’t believe these people, they aren’t even married yet and they are already going out together, I feel like a fool right now,”

“You don’t have to be hard on yourself my friend, Alex doesn’t deserve you trust me, you’re too good for him. Let’s look at the bright side here, at least you landed Linda a big slap,” Precious said

“Oh my! I don’t regret it at all, I’d do that over and over again if I get the chance to. I’m happy I did so,” that got me smiling a little.

“Reporters were everywhere though, I think they captured the moment,” she added

“I don’t care if they did, in fact I’d love if they captured that very scene. She destroyed my marriage, I’ll be more than glad to tarnish her image as well.” We both laughed out loud as she came over and gave me a tight hug.

“But come to think of it, why was Alex acting that way? Was he jealous? I could definitely sense he was.” I asked.

“Yes you’re right, he was obviously jealous but why should he be? He had zero right to be,” she said.

“He had the confidence to bring his w***e and now he’s jealous seeing me dance with a man, a stranger for that matter. I’m so sure he doesn’t know he was a total stranger.” My face contorted as I spoke.

I went on ranting, “come to think of it, does that mean he’s still in love with me? I thought he said he doesn’t love me anymore, why then was he jealous?”

“Please, don’t stress yourself too much, you’re very much better without him. You’re a strong independent lady, don’t let any man treat you like s**t, so please, I’ll need you to forget about him.”

Precious has a way of making me feel confident, I felt better at least for a little while.

“Look at the person you married, is this how he treats you?” My brother, Rex asked out of concern as he stomped his legs constantly on the ground.

My brother is a sweet and gentle man but he can become dangerous if anyone messes with me. He cherish his baby sister very much.

“Is this what you put up with everyday? No wonder father wasn’t in support of this marriage from the very beginning.” He said,

I sat there quietly, unable to utter a single word. All that happened felt like a dream to me, I never for once thought that was going to happen in my life time. Although I know I and Alex haven’t been on good terms for the past few months, but I always thought our marriage was a forever deal no matter what happens. Just 2 years without a child and this marriage is over, what could be wrong with my womb? I was a virgin before I got married, this shouldn't happen to me..

“But come to think of it, I think he’s the reason for this barreness. I’ve tested myself severally and the test came out positive, I don't have any complications,”

“I totally agree with you,” my nosy friend, Precious added.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to intervene?" Rex asked,

Knowing who my brother is, I knew it won’t take him anything to destroy his career. “Thank you very much for having my back always but this issue is very personal to me, I’ll prefer if I deal with him myself, I can’t accept defeat this way.“

I went on to say, “I went against my family wishes and married him, that was how much I loved him. Father rarely talks to me because of him, I became like an outcast to father.”

“Now you see why I keep saying he doesn’t deserve you?” Precious said

“He wants to divorce me for that w****, why her of all people?”. I guess he doesn’t know me or anything about my family. If he does, he would have reconsidered his decision.” I said.

“Well, it’s a good thing you kept him in the dark all this while. At least, now you know what he has for you wasn’t true. Or maybe it was at first but cheating on you is the height of it.” Precious said

“I think it’s time we leave, we have overstayed our welcome here. All eyes are on us and I can see reporters tripping in every minute,” Rex said

“I agree with you, so where are we heading to?” I asked

“The mansion of course!” Rex said as he stared glances at me because he knew I would likely want to oppose that. It’s been years I went to the mansion.

“Is that a good idea? I haven’t spoken with dad in a very long time now, I doubt he’ll be happy to see me around,” I said as worry clouded my thoughts.

“You’re his daughter for crying out loud, of course he would be happy to see you,” Rex added.

“I don’t think I’ll go with you, besides I can’t leave Precious behind,” I winked at Precious so she was going to support me but of course, my dramatic friend betrayed me.

“If you ask me, I wouldn’t mind going to the mansion, it’s been a while I’ve been there,” Precious said

“Really, Precious?” I hit her slightly with my elbow and we both laughed out loud.

“By the way, your face would be plastered on the newspaper and social media very soon, don’t you think it will be a better idea to tell father about it than him finding out?” Rex said as he called his driver to bring the SUV to entrance.

“That actually isn’t a bad idea, I just feel bad for all that happened. I feel like a failure, infact I failed already in this marriage thing.” My eyes became teary as I spoke, Precious stared at me for a moment, while Rex arm went round my shoulders.

“You aren’t a failure Anita, you’re a strong, independent woman. You went for what you wanted even if you had to cut ties with your family, that’s unheard of because it takes a strong and confident lady to do that. No matter the challenges, you still stood strong and fought for what you wanted. So yeah, you’re not a failure or a fool, Alex is just an asshole.” Rex said as he hugged me tightly, he was the best brother a person could ever have.

As we headed to the SUV, reporters gathered us asking several questions. “Who is this with you? Why didn’t you leave with your husband earlier? Are you separated? What do you have to say about Duncan motors folding up? Questions kept coming up but we ignored and walked fast towards the SUV.

Just as we were about entering, I heard a question that got me to pause for a moment, a reporter asked “what do you have to say about the s*x scandal?”
