Selena Ward never believed in destiny—until the night a stranger appeared in her bedroom with eyes that burned like molten gold.

Kael Draven, Crown Prince of the Fire Realm, claims she is the only one who can break his kingdom’s ancient curse. His demand is simple, yet terrifying: sign a marriage contract with him, or watch her family and her world burn to ashes.

Forced into a bond she never wanted, Selena finds herself thrust into a world of fire, power, and dangerous secrets. Kael is cold, ruthless, and impossible to defy… yet his touch ignites a passion she cannot resist.

Chapter One: The Scroll Of Destiny
Selena Ward had always thought nightmares were nothing more than fleeting shadows of the mind. But this one had stalked her for weeks always the same, always worse each time. Fire. Endless fire. Flames swallowing her world until nothing remained but ash and screams. In the heart of it stood a man with eyes of molten gold, watching her as if she belonged to him. Tonight was no different. She jolted awake, her heart hammering in her chest, sweat dampening her hairline. Her breaths came short, sharp, ragged. For a moment she sat still, trying to convince herself it was just another dream. Just another product of stress, exhaustion, and too much coffee before bed. Until she felt it. That suffocating weight pressing down on her room. That shift in the air, thick and heavy, like the atmosphere had turned molten. She wasn’t alone. Her head snapped up, and she nearly screamed. A man was standing by her window, framed by the pale silver of the moonlight He was tall, impossibly tall, with a presence that seemed to stretch beyond the walls. Broad shoulders, sculpted lines of muscle visible beneath a black tunic embroidered with strange, glowing patterns. His hair was dark as midnight, falling just above his sharp jawline. But it was his eyes—those same golden, burning eyes from her nightmare—that froze her in place. Selena’s throat tightened. She opened her mouth to scream, but no sound came “Who—who are you?” she stammered, clutching the blanket as if it could shield her. The man took one step forward, and even that simple motion made the shadows bow to him. His voice was deep, controlled, carrying the weight of someone accustomed to command. “My name is Kael Draven,” he said slowly, each word measured like a decree. “Crown Prince of the Fire Realm. And you, Selena Ward… you are bound to me.” Selena blinked rapidly, trying to process what she had just heard. Crown Prince? Fire Realm? Bound to him? This had to be a dream—or maybe she was still half-asleep and hallucinating. “You’re insane,” she whispered hoarsely. “This is crazy. Get out before I call the police!” Kael didn’t flinch. His gaze remained locked on her, steady, unyielding. With a flick of his wrist, something appeared between them—hovering in the air before gently dropping onto her bed. A scroll. It was unlike anything she had ever seen. Made of shimmering parchment, glowing faintly, with golden fire curling at its edges without burning it. Beside it, a quill materialized, its feather jet black and tipped with red flame. Selena scrambled back. “What… what the hell is that?” Kael’s lips curved into the faintest smile. Not kind, not warm, but sharp, like the edge of a blade. “Your salvation,” he said softly. Then his voice hardened. “And your curse. It is a marriage contract. You will sign it.” Selena choked on a laugh, her nerves breaking into panic. “Marriage? To you? Are you out of your mind? I don’t even know you! “You will,” Kael said, calm as ever. “In time.” Her anger spiked, overriding the fear for just a moment. “Do you think I’m just going to marry some—some lunatic who breaks into my room in the middle of the night, waving around some glowing piece of paper? Get real.” Kael’s smile vanished. He stepped closer, and the room seemed to tremble with the heat radiating from his body. Selena swore the air itself grew hotter, drier, suffocating. “This is no joke,” he said, his voice low, resonant, like thunder rolling through a canyon. “My people are cursed. My kingdom is dying. And only one woman can undo the chains that bind us. That woman is you, Selena Ward.” Selena froze, her pulse roaring in her ears. “What do you mean… me? Why me?” Kael’s gaze softened for just a fraction of a second, though the fire in his eyes remained unrelenting. “Because fate does not make mistakes.” Selena’s heart thudded painfully. She shook her head, forcing out a weak laugh. “You expect me to just believe that? That I’m supposed to marry a stranger to save some kingdom I’ve never heard of?” Kael leaned down, his face inches from hers. His breath was warm, tinged with the faintest scent of smoke and spice. “I expect you to believe what you already know,” he murmured. “The fire that haunts your dreams. The flames you see every night. Those are not dreams, Selena. They are visions. Memories of what will come if you refuse me.” Her blood ran cold. She hadn’t told anyone about the nightmares. Not her mother. Not her best friend. No one. “How—how do you know about that?” she whispered. “Because I put them there,” Kael admitted, his tone flat, unapologetic. “To prepare you.” Selena’s stomach dropped. She wanted to deny it, scream at him, throw him out—but deep down, a terrifying part of her believed him. “No,” she whispered, shaking her head violently. “No, this isn’t real. I won’t sign anything.” Kael straightened, his expression hardening to stone. “If you refuse, the curse will spread. Fire will consume not just my realm, but yours. Your family. Your friends. Everyone you love will burn.” Selena’s body went cold. Images of her mother and little brother flashed in her mind—burned, screaming, reaching for her as flames swallowed them whole. “You’re lying,” she said, her voice trembling. “You’re trying to scare me.” Kael’s golden eyes glowed brighter, and suddenly the room transformed. The walls melted away, replaced by a vision of fire sweeping across her town, devouring houses, streets, people. She heard the screams, the crackle of burning flesh, the wails of children. And then—her brother’s face. Her mother’s. Both reaching for her before the fire took them. “Stop!” Selena screamed, tears filling her eyes. “Please, stop!” In an instant, the vision vanished. She was back in her room, shaking, her chest heaving with ragged sobs. Kael’s expression remained unreadable, though there was a flicker.just a flicker of regret in his eyes. “This is the truth you cannot escape,” he said quietly. “Sign the contract, and they live. Refuse… and this becomes reality.” Selena’s hands trembled violently as she stared at the glowing scroll. Every instinct screamed at her to run, to fight, to refuse. But the image of her family burning was seared into her mind, too strong to ignore. Her throat felt raw as she whispered, “Why me? Out of everyone in the world… why does it have to be me?” Kael’s gaze softened just enough to make her heart stumble. “Because your blood is tied to mine. Because fate carved your name into the fire long before you were born.” Selena’s chest tightened. She wanted to scream at him, call him a liar again, but the conviction in his voice—calm, absolute broke through her denial. Her hand hovered over the quill. The firelight from the scroll flickered against her skin, casting long, trembling shadows. Kael’s gaze never left her. “Sign it, Selena. Bind yourself to me. And live.” Selena squeezed her eyes shut, her tears hot against her cheeks. Her heart was pounding so violently it hurt. This couldn’t be real. This shouldn’t be real. And yet… it was. Her fingers brushed the quill. The flames along the scroll flared in response, like they were waiting for her. She gasped, looking up at Kael one last time. His golden eyes held hers, unwavering, filled with the weight of a destiny she had never asked for. Her hand shook as she lowered the quill toward the glowing parchment. And in that suspended moment, Selena Ward realized that once she signed her name, her life would never again be her own.
