The Confrontation

Elena's POV: My mother's voice was filled with worry as she told me that the 'big' men were disrupting our furniture, ruining the decorations and one of them was keeping both Chloe and her in a corner, she sounded close to crying. "Don't worry, mama. I am coming." I assured her. I had an idea who might have the utmost audacity to send his goons to my house to search for a God damn USB. I was fuming by the time I made my way to the devil's office, my heels making rhythmic noises as I walked furiously. Banging his office door I entered inside. The door went slamming to the wall with a loud thud which even made me flinch a little but I controlled my reactions. There was no time to act afraid. My mind was filled with anger to even think about what I was doing- that is facing a thug head on with no care for my life. He looked nonchalantly with an expressionless face as I came to his desk and slammed my hands on his desk. I leaned forward and got into his face to get my words across, my necklace swaying slightly between us. "You- you have the audacity to send people to my house for a search?! I told you I have no idea where your damn USB is! And and how did you even find my address?!" I asked all in one breath. There was silence on the other side. He did not react. Instead he continued signing the documents in front of him as I was invisible. Just when I moved my hand to snatch the documents and throw them in his face, he looked up. His gaze made its way from my hands on his table upwards towards my face in an agonizingly slow motion. The icy glare he threw my way made me rethink my decision for a second but I held strong. "Remove your hands from my desk." He warned. Is he serious right now? My mother and sister were there, probably having panic attacks and he was acting so…so indifferent like I was a useless being who was disrupting his schedule? My hands fisted, scrunching the documents with them and just as I opened my mouth to throw a few choice words at him, he stood up abruptly, his chair went rolling backwards on its wheels towards the wall, and imitated my stance on the table. Now, we were facing each other with a little to no spaces between our faces and only a desk between our bodies. "I am warning you Elena. You do not want to test my patience." He warned in a chilling voice. I didn't care, I wasn't gonna go down without a fight. Nobody messes with my family. "You do not test my patience." I imitated him trying to make my voice as deep as him as I made a face at him. Now I know, that was no way to get my point across but I couldn't think of anything. "You are testing my patience here, mister. Call your goons and tell them to leave my house right f-ing now!" I shouted. His lips twitched as he stifled a smile but then he shifted to that threatening expression once again as if I just imagined the previous reaction, "You really think you can just stand there and order me? And my so-called goons are searching your house for the USB and no one can stop them without my orders. You should be grateful that they haven't touched your mother and sister till now." Is he seriously threatening me right now? "You-you…" All my choice words left me at the end time. I knew I wouldn't be able to do anything if he decided to do something to my family. That's what happens when you lack power and money, people like him walk all over you, playing with your weaknesses and controlling you and I was obviously stupid enough to display my weaknesses in front of him. It was then I knew that it was stupid of me to come here to argue with him, thinking I could ask him to get his men to leave my house. My hands made dents on my palm as I fisted them tightly, knuckles white as I moved away from the desk to get towards the door. I had to go to my mother and comfort her, there was no use in making an effort here, he'll do what he wants to. I would have taken not more than two steps when he came in front of me at the speed of lightning and began backtracking me against the desk. "What- what…" I stuttered. By the time these words made their way out of my mouth, my back had already met the table. I pushed my hands in front of me in an half-assed attempt to prevent him from coming any closer than he already was. Mouth set in a firm line, and with a icy glare, he paid no heed to my outstretched hands but instead easily, despite my squirming and struggling, managed to lace our fingers together and put our hands on the table. It was already impossible to move with him crowding me, now I wasn't able to move my hands either. Could this get any worse? "You are not going anywhere." He whispered in my ear, his warm breath hitting my ear as I stood there numbly, without breathing. I gasp escaped my lips as he dropped a light kiss on the top of my ear. It felt as if it took me two to three business days to respond but I took my hands out of his and pushed him with all my might. He took a deliberate step back with a light smirk on his face, hands in a surrender motion. "Don't touch me!" I shouted. "And you cannot stop me from leaving." He raised one of his eyebrows as if to ask if I really believed that. I could almost cry at my helplessness at the moment. Then without any concern, he took out his phone from his pocket and began typing on it. "Do your search or whatever! I won't do anything. I am just going home to see my family!" I tried to argue. "I said you are not leaving this office." Tears sting my eyes at his expressionless face and strict voice. How can anybody be so heartless? "Okay, I am not going anywhere. Just let me call them." I was literally seconds away from crying like a child. "No." "Keith, please." This was my last attempt at thawing his heart. He must have noticed the tremble that occured in my voice despite my best efforts cause he looked up from his phone and gazed at me intently. It was after a few seconds that he again got focused on his phone and began dialing someone with a ticking jaw. "Yes Caleb. How's the search going?" Caleb had picked up the phone at the second ring and was now replying to Satan himself. The said Satan continued looking intensely in my eyes as he addressed Caleb. I was never the type of person who had the ability to hold eye contacts so I moved my gaze towards his black coat under which he had worn a high neck. It was at his next words that my gaze went towards him to find out that he had never stopped looking at me. "Put Elena's mother on the speaker." "Hello?" It was after a second that I heard my mother's unsure voice. I had just opened my mouth to speak when he put his finger on his lips in a threatening motion. "Shh… let me talk." He whispered. "Miss Harold, your daughter is with me - safe but currently stuck in a very important task. It would be very helpful of you if you allow her to remain in the office for a few more hours. I hope the men in your house aren't disturbing you so much." The change in his voice- from strict and chilling to soft and gentle- was a big shock to me. I stood there with my mouth agape as he made my mother get stuck in his web of charisma and sweet lies. But looking at the context of his speech. What bullshit was he spewing?! "Oh okay. Yeah we are fine." I heard my mother say, clearly entranced by him. I couldn't stay silent any longer- "No mama-" I was sure my voice wouldn't have reached my mother when the phone was cut and he was on me in another second, bending me backwards on the desk again, face just inches away from mine, and eyes as if they were throwing lava at me wishing me to melt that very instant. My hands were skillfully placed behind my back with his one hand only- rendering me helpless, while the other was holding me tightly by the nape. "Did you not hear when I asked you not to open your mouth?" His voice was chilling - too chilling for me to not think about the consequences of my action. I - once again - opened my mouth to say something when the hand at my nape got impossibly tight that I shut my mouth the instant I opened it. My body didn't bruise easily but that will surely hurt later. "You won't listen so easily. I have to teach you a lesson now so you won't ignore me next time." My eyes widened as he swiped his thumb on my bottom lip, swiping my favourite lip gloss along with it. Oh boy, I was in deep trouble.
