May 7, 2019. Lagos. Amina flipped on her hoodie as the elevator doors slid open with a ding. She walked briskly into the office and the occupant noticing her presence, jumped out of his seat. "Who are you? What are you doing in my office?" he questioned. She gave no reply, her lips curved up in a nasty smirk, she turned and landed a swift kick on the side of his neck. Shocked, he clutched his neck in pain and staggered back. She landed a punch, a kick and grabbed him and flipped him on his back. He moaned in pain and tried to get up, but she gave him no chance. She brought out a wire from her pocket and wrapped it around his neck and pulled. The man gasped and choked, his face turning purple, the smell of burning flesh wafted in the air as the wire sliced through his neck. "Cut," a call rang out and she let go of her victim, she pulled him up without a scratch and he dusted himself up. "That was wicked," commented one of the crew members as she walked past him. She couldn't help the smile that bloomed on her face, she knew she was a great actress but it didn't hurt to be complimented now and then. "What's up Fred, that was a great scene. Why'd you tell me to stop?" she asked as she got to the director. His countenance however, told a different story. "I've got bad news and I've got bad news, which do you wanna hear first?" She frowned. Isn't it the same thing? "Huh! both, I guess." "You've been taken off the play," he delivered without preamble. "What?" she screeched. This can't be happening. "What do you mean I've been taken off." "That's what I said, you've been taken off the play." he shrugged nonchalantly. "Come on Fred, don't toy with me. I can't be taken off the play, I'm already acting it. You saw what I did just now, I just acted the first scene." "Yeah, I saw," he turned back and started walking off the set, she followed. "Look, I didn't decide to just take you out, the producer did. You know how she is, she wants someone who can play the lotus and you're more of a siren." The lotus? What the hell does that even mean. "I don't...I don't get you." "It's simple, you are well...you and she wants someone who can be meek, gentle and play coy." What the f**k? "What? I'm an actress Fred, of course I can play all that. Please Fred don't do this to me, I've read the script, practiced it for months. Damn it, everyone already knows I'm the lead role in this movie, you can't do this. Please Fred, I'll do anything," she pleaded. "Anything?" he raised a questioning brow, his interest suddenly piqued. "Well..." she backtracked, "not anything, but you get what I mean." "Hmm," he scratched his salt and pepper beard in thought. Fred was a chubby man in his forties and had a nonchalant air about him. He didn't give a flying f**k about anyone and that's why he was so good at his job, but he had a soft spot for Amina even though he never showed it. "You know I think there might be something you can do after all," he said after a while and she perked up at this, "If there's anyone Giselle wants more than anything on this play, it's Ifeanyi." "Ifeanyi?" she scrunched up her face at his name and rolled her eyes. The man was a washed up actor, his fame had taken a nosedive three years ago, she didn't get why producers still wanted that guy when there were a lot of fresh talents like her on the block. Especially when the guy doesn't even take jobs from anyone anymore, but they never stop trying. "Yes Ifeanyi Daniels, that's who Giselle wants to act as the support to the lead and I think no, I know if you can get him to take the role, you'll be back in your spot. In fact she'll worship the ground you walk on." Her mouth hung open and she stared at Fred in disbelief. "How the hell am I supposed to do that?" she shouted. "Well I'm sure you can get him to do it, what with your feminine charms and all." he waved his hand in the air and walked away. Amina stared after him in irritation as he wobbled away, his fat derrière shaking with every step he took. How was she gonna going to get Ifeanyi to work with her, she had no idea where he lived or anything about him. No one did. She felt eyes watching her and she turned to see one of the crew members, Benny watching her. He had a dreamy expression on his face and as she stared at him an idea clicked in her head.  Her lips curved up in a seductive smile. Benny was the tech guy, if anyone could find out about Ifeanyi's whereabouts it would be him. She strutted up to him and flipped her hair, making sure the curls bounced as she walked and fixed her gaze on him. The poor guy looked around nervously and wiped his palm off his baggy jean trousers. He was sweaty and his dark skin was littered with dark spots, his face covered in nasty pimples. She almost gagged at the thought of touching him but her smile didn't waver as she got to him. "Hello Benny boo," she purred, "do me a favour will you?" she ran her index finger down his sweaty shirt and brought her face closer to his, close enough to kiss him. She whispered her request to him and he nodded dumbly, she gave him a subtle kiss on the side of his lips, he turned and walked away in a daze. Works every time. She smirked.
