Chapter 1: sandra

Sandra's POV

The only thing I could hear was my ragged breath as I ran. I didn't want to be caught and killed. My mom and dad have sacrificed their lives for me. If I die, then their death will be in vain. I promised them that I will run and hide. I promised them that I will find a mate and have children.

The only safe place I found was the pack house' dungeons. No one will come there since the battle is still not happening on the pack's grounds. My heart was beating fast with fear. I couldn't believe that they died. They were my rock and everything. Now they are gone.

I felt the pain in my chest just thinking about them. How could someone kill pure souls like them? They were like angels. Everyone loved them in the pack, then why no one protected them? Why did they die like that?

I kept going knowing I have to save myself. I have to leave, I have no place in this pack anymore. They didn't save my parents. They watched them die. I know the alpha and Luna loved my parents, but they stood watching them die too. I couldn't believe that they didn't interfere. That was the first smack to my face. The second was when they all coward in fear, while my parents fought bravely, and they looked into my eyes and held me back from fighting with them.

Once everything is over, I will pack my things and leave. I already don't have a home. We lived in the pack house, so I won't be losing much. Other than my friends of course. But even them, weren't there for me when my parents were being killed.

That's just it. I can't keep going while looking at them every day. They will remind me of the awful events that happened today.

Once I was safely staying in the dungeons, a sob broke out of me. I put a hand on my mouth as tears kept falling from my eyes. I can't bare this pain anymore. It was killing me from the inside, and there was no one there for me.

My life here is over. I have to move away. I have to go.

I kept crying loudly. I couldn't contain the sobs anymore and I fell on the floor. While the tears kept on falling like a river.

Why did this happen to me? We were happy. I was going to leave the pack and search for my mate. Then he would come with me to meet my awesome parents. My dad would have glared at him and he would have smiled at me. My mom would have baked him her famous cake and we would have eaten dinner. Mom was the best chef out there.

The tears dried on my face. There was just no more tears to fall from my eyes. It was official, the rogues killed my parents. I am an orphan now.

When I stopped hearing any noise, I left the dungeons. I headed to my room, avoiding all the gazes on me. I wasn't ready to talk to anyone from my pack. I wanted to leave as soon as possible.

"Sandra-" The alpha called me but I didn't look at him.

"Sandra, honey we will respect any decision you make, but you know that this was beyond us." Luna Adaline said.

"No. You could have saved them. You are more powerful than these rogues." I snapped, for the first time in my entire life at the Luna. She flinched and a look of worry crossed her eyes.

"That is no way to talk to your Luna, Sandra." Alpha Christian growled, but a look of warmth was in his eyes.

He knew that I lost everything today. He knew what it feels like to lose both parents.

"I respected you my whole life. My parents were so loyal to you! Why did you watch them getting killed without interfering?" I cried as I yelled at them.

The pack members stood there watching with disapproving eyes, but no one stopped me. I am sure that alpha Christian ordered them not to, or I would have been dead by now.

"These rogues have killed more than your parents. If we interfered, more pack members would have died." The alpha said.

"Yeah, so let's just sacrifice Sandra's parents, right?" I screamed and entered the room closing it with a bang. I hate them all. I don't want to ever see them again.

I packed my things and left my room. Everyone looked at me with calculating eyes.

"Alpha Christian, I want to be a lone wolf. Don't ban me from the pack. I don't want to be smelled off as a rogue." I said and he nodded.

"Find you mate Sandra, and when you do, you can join his pack without complications. I won't break the bond completely when you leave." He said smiling sadly.

"Thank you." I said with hooded eyes. That's the least he can do for me.

"You will be missed child." Luna Adaline said. I nodded at her.

"Sandra!" Sierra, a friend of mine yelled.

"Yes?" I whispered.

"Please take care. And come back to us." She said, a tear falling from her eye.

"Maybe. But I won't make any promises. I can't make empty promises." I told her truthfully.

"I will hold on the 'maybe.' And we will wait for you." She smiled and hugged me.

I hugged her back. But that was it. I will be leaving this life behind me. Until I find a mate, I won't belong to any pack. I won't be attached, and I will fight my battles alone. I will never need anyone to be there for me.

At least, not for now. Not until the fresh wound in my heart is healed. I will not let my parents down. I will be the girl that will make them proud.

Today, my adventure begins.
