Chapter 13It was a long night for Sandro and the boy. Massimo fell asleep out of exhaustion after about an hour, as it turned out he had been staying awake for most of the last two days trying to care for his mother. But for Sandro, sleep never came. How long would it be before Dominic returned? Why was it taking so long? The answer was plain, and that was what worried him. He knew his partner well enough to know he would, out of a sense of duty, plunge himself into harm’s way. He would be at the hospital a long time, helping out in whatever way he could.
