FLASH BACK
“Alpha Roman!” Hayley shouted as she walked into the pack house, only to meet a girl sitting on Roman’s lap as they engaged in a never-ending kiss.
Hayley's heart broke as she tried to control the tears that threatened to fall out of her eyes.
Roman was giving her a sign that he would definitely reject her, since she's an omega with no wolf and is too weak to be the future Luna of the pack.
Seeing the tears in Hayley's eyes, Alpha Roman smirked devilishly and broke off the kiss with the girl before standing up for an introduction.
“Everyone, meet Hayley Williams, my omega mate. Do you think she's worth being the future Luna of my pack?” Alpha Roman asked, and murmurs erupted as the people in the party began to cast disdainful glares at Hayley, who folded her fist angrily where she stood.
Hayley was too heartbroken to say a single word, as she just let the tears she had been trying so hard to hold back fall freely. She felt so less of herself at that minute, and it was like the whole world had turned its back on her.
When Hayley found out that Alpha Roman was her mate, she was so excited that she just couldn't wait for him to recognize her as his mate also, but it was the total opposite of what she had fantasized.
Hayley's dream was to find her mate when she turned eighteen years of age, but it happened when she turned twenty, and instead of having an ordinary male wolf who would accept her for who she is, the moon goddess decided to punish her by making Alpha Roman her mate.
The girl, who was kissing Alpha Roman when Hayley walked in, turned to face her. Almost immediately, Hayley's heart jumped into her mouth.
Wasn't that her best friend Rosa, to whom she tells every single thing about her life?
So her friend went behind her to seduce her mate? Is someone like Rosa called a friend?
“ Ro—--Rosa?” Hayley tried to call her best friend's name, but the name wouldn't fall out of her mouth due to shock.
“Hey, bestie!” Rosa waved with a smirk on her face.
“Why—did you do—this?” Hayley asked as she took slow and steady steps towards Rosa, who cast a disgusting glare.
“Do what? Alpha Roman is mine to begin with, but the moon goddess just made you his mate,” Rosa said confidently, without any single feeling of remorse.
“You know me so well, Rosa, that I can never touch what's yours because I considered you to be my best friend, but how dare you betray me like this? My mate was yours to begin with? How?” Hayley threw different questions at Rosa, praying desperately that she would give her a suitable answer to all her questions because her head was a mess at that moment, and she couldn't think straight.
“What do you mean by how? He fell for me first and asked me out, so I accepted. Who wouldn't accept such a hottie and the Alpha of this pack? Oh! Come on now, Hayley, wipe your tears; Alpha Roman is already mine, and there's nothing you can do about it,” Rosa said with a mischievous smile on her face.
Seeing that Rosa had already made up her mind, Hayley ran to Alpha Roman and knelt before him. She didn't mind the people who were staring at her; all that mattered to her was Alpha Roman, because she couldn't handle rejection because it might as well ruin her for life.
“Alpha—Roman! I am your mate, so you have to choose me, not Rosa. She's not your mate; I am!” Hayley shouted as she held on to Alpha Roman’s leg.
“Why are you being cheap?” he asked, while Hayley stood up after hearing what he called her.
“Aren't you the cheap one? You were always aware that I was your mate, yet you didn't tell me because I was just a wolfless omega? Now you went ahead and made my best friend your girlfriend when you knew that your mate was your girlfriend's best friend. Isn't it called pure wickedness?” Hayley asked as she wiped her red, swollen eyes.
“Were you expecting me to accept you as my mate before? Get off your high horse, Hayley! I can never make a weak and wolfless omega like you, my mate, so brace yourself for rejection,” Alpha Roman said, but Hayley raised her hand and landed a deafening slap across his face, which made Alpha Roman smirk.
“How dare you slap the Alpha of this pack? Do you know what you did was committing treason?” Alpha Roman asked, and Hayley moved closer to him.
“What you're making me feel is worth more than treason. How I wish I could strangle you until you die!” Hayley whispered, her eyes bloodshot with anger.
“ Nice! Nice! Now you've shown who you truly are, but let me tell you something: even if you were to be reborn again, I still wouldn't accept you as my mate." Alpha Roman snorted as they both exchanged deadly glares with each other.
“I am so sorry to burst your bubbles, darling; I didn't know you would come running to the pack house after you found out that I was your mate,” he smirked and began to take slow steps towards Hayley.
With every step he took, Hayley could feel her rejection drifting closer to her, and her heart was running a marathon in her rib cage.
He stopped just an inch away from her as his eyes met with Hayley's, making her heart thump faster like a drum.
“Hayley,” he called, his voice dangerously appealing, but Hayley wasn't backing down from whatever he planned to do.
“Can you give me suitable reasons why I should choose you over your best friend Rosa? I mean, Rosa has everything a man needs in a woman, and she's also qualified to be the future Luna. She's beautiful; she has Alpha blood; she is not a weakling like you, so can I get the reasons why I should choose you over her?” Alpha Roman asked, leaving Hayley speechless.
Of all the qualities he mentioned about Rosa, Hayley possessed just one: the fact that she was more beautiful than Rosa. Besides that, she has absolutely nothing compared to Rosa.
“I... am beautiful,” were the only words Hayley could think of at that moment because her head fell blank, and she had nothing to say.
“Beautiful, you say? You might be beautiful, Hayley, but besides that, what do you have to offer? If I accept you as my Luna, you will only become a burden to this pack in the present and also in the future,” Alpha Roman said cockily, while everyone, including Rosa, burst into a fit of laughter.
Seeing how she was being mocked, Hayley felt tears spill from the corners of her eyes. Her heart was bleeding uncontrollably, as if she were being stabbed with a dagger. The words from Alpha Roman felt like a million daggers stabbed at her fragile heart.
“I am not a weakling, Alpha! My wolf will be out sooner than you expect!” she shouted after she was able to comfort herself.
“It doesn't matter anymore, Hayley, so accept the rejection and move on. You might be lucky and get a second chance, mate,” Alpha Roman said and drew closer towards Hayley, covering the remaining one inch between them.
“I, Roman Greece, the Alpha of the Royal Blood Pack, reject you, Hayley Williams, from being my mate and the future Luna of the Royal Blood Pack.” Alpha Roman said, his voice coated with disgust as he stared disdainfully at Hayley, his mate.
“Now accept my rejection,” Alpha Roman said coldly as he watched Hayley wriggling on the ground in pain.
“I—Hayley Williams, accept—accept your rejection,” she struggled to say as she clenched her chest tightly.
“Now leave this pack, b***h!” Alpha Roman dismissed her coldly, like a bag of trash.
