Marco Russo had been Salvatore's right-hand man for as long as he could remember. He had been there from the beginning, loyal and dependable. But when a woman got caught in the crossfire of a turf war, something inside Marco started to shift. He couldn't shake the image of her terrified face, and he began to question the methods of his boss. "Marco, you're my most trusted lieutenant. You know I would never do anything to jeopardize my empire," Salvatore said, trying to ease Marco's doubts. But Marco couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, and he couldn't turn a blind eye to the innocent lives being destroyed by the mafia. "I understand that, Salvatore. But what about that woman? She was completely innocent and got caught in the middle. How many more people have to suffer for our actions?" Marco argued. Salvatore sighed, knowing he couldn't convince Marco to change his loyalty. "She was collateral damage, Marco. It happens. But we have to do what we have to do to maintain our power." But Marco wasn't satisfied with Salvatore's explanation. He couldn't shake the guilt and the growing sense of moral responsibility. He made a decision that would change his life forever. "I can't do this anymore, Salvatore. I can't be a part of this violence and destruction. I'm leaving the mafia," Marco declared. Salvatore's face turned cold and his eyes narrowed. "You know the consequences of betraying me, Marco. You will regret this decision." But Marco was prepared for Salvatore's threats. He had made a plan to protect himself and the woman he had grown to care for. "I know the risks, Salvatore. But I can't live with myself if I continue down this path. I have a plan to leave and start a new life, one that doesn't involve bloodshed and crime," Marco said firmly. Salvatore's expression softened as he saw the determination in Marco's eyes. "Fine, go. But know that you can never come back. You are dead to me." With that, Marco left the mafia and started a new life. He kept his promise to protect the woman from before, and they eventually fell in love and started a family. Marco had no regrets about leaving the mafia, and he was determined to make sure his past never caught up with him. But little did he know, Salvatore had not forgotten about his betrayal. And he would stop at nothing to make Marco pay for leaving the mafia.
