Chapter 5“You didn’t have to come back so soon last night.” I barely refrained from rolling my eyes at my mother as she plated the pancakes she’d made for me and Jonathan. We were seated at the dining room table, having breakfast together. When I had returned to the house last night, I had helped to finish trimming the tree. It was now well decorated with many ornaments and lights as well as sparkly green and red garland in front of that picture window. It looked and smelled like Christmas.
