Juno didn’t feel like her insides were being twisted, her heart constricted of any blood flow. Outside in the coldness she felt numb. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. One of many she’s taken since she’s been back. An image of Nix flashed behind her eyelids. His ghostly presence calmed her down, encompassing her like a secure blanket. The promise in his emerald eyes, a promise that he won’t let her fall, a look that says he’ll hold her no matter what. But why hasn’t she seen him yet? When her eyes opened, the Nix’s phantom dissipated with the snowflakes, Juno knew what she had to do.
Juno turns at the stomping footsteps as Kevin races outside with a worried and confused expression. “Kevin, there is something you can do for me. Take me to the Cattail Cauldron, please.”
