Chapter Sixty-One I slowly open my eyes and take stock of my surroundings. Pale shades of light beam through the one window of the one-room old cabin. It’s not night anymore but the air is still frigid. There is no heat in the cabin, no fire in the dirty and web covered hearth. Even though I am lying on a cot and covered with a blanket, it’s no protection from the biting cold. My jaw aches and my head is pounding but at least the blood has stopped flowing.
