Chapter 17: Feeding the Subjects

Based on his initial tests, the large mutated zombie had indeed mutated from eating other Zombie Organs and Core. That was expected as there is currently no other way for a zombie to mutate otherwise.

Its bone and muscle density had amazingly been strengthened by three folds which was a surprise.

Luke continued to run tests and experiments using the samples he got from the large mutate zombie. Be it blood, skin, bone, tissue, even hair. Everything was of use to him as he continued his experiment.

As Luke experimented on the large mutated zombie, Nicole had also finished settling Mily on her bed to rest so she went to take a bath.

She was reeking with zombie blood and she didn't really want to smell like this for even a second more.

After taking a hot shower, she went to look for something to eat.

"Ah right. Mily usually takes care of the meals. Since she's unconscious right now...I suppose I should get those guys some food..."

She remembered how Mily was the one to have fed the 'test subjects' which included her in the past.

Now that Mily wasn't able to do so, and the fact that she has a bit of connection with those guys, Nicole felt that she should give them something to eat for lunch.

Thinking that Nicole got a few more cans, cooked them, then placed them on plates. She then placed them on a metal cart before pushing the cart into the experiment room.

"Time to eat guys."

"...Nicole?"

"Nicole, please help us!"

"Get us out of here!"

Everyone cried out as they begged for her to help them.

Nicole sighed and shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but I can't..."

"Why not!? Aren't we all humans here!? Why are you siding with a guy experimenting on humans like this!?"

"That's exactly why! I don't want to be part of another experiment...look, if you cooperate, you might have a chance...just eat for now."

Nicole tried to calm them down but they still wouldn't shut up about it.

"Tsk! You're probably sleeping with him, right!? Don't tell me you actually fell for that crazy bastard!?"

"f*****g slut!"

"Get us out dammit!"

Nicole sighed and ignored their comments.

She walked towards the women first and fed them with food.

As they have been quite hungry, the women didn't say anything and just ate while the men kept shouting at her.

Although, after a while, they finally stopped as they were exhausted.

One of the girls asked.

"Nicole...what...what exactly is that guy doing here...?"

"I don't know...he's mainly researching anything related to zombies. In fact, we went outside just now too."

"Outside? You didn't run?"

Nicole laughed bitterly.

"I did  think of that but...you don't know how scary that guy is...not only is he a mad scientist, that guy is also insanely powerful! His strength and speed have already reached the limits of humans...."

"H-he's that powerful?"

Nicole nodded.

"Actually, we even encountered a large mutated zombie outside. But that guy, he...he just punched it like a sandbag! In the end, he won with ease by beheading it. He also brought it back to experiment on it so he won't be appearing here anytime soon. That's why, in the meantime, just save your strength and eat."

"...Alright..."

The woman nodded and ate the food given to her.

Suddenly, a voice sounded out in the room.

"Miss Nicole, there is a better way to feed them."

"Hm? Ah...is it umm, Miss Athena?"

"Yes, I am Athena."

Nicole still isn't used to talking to this Artificial Intelligence so she answered hesitantly.

"What do you mean a better way to feed them?"

"You can just remove their shackles and let them feed themselves."

"But that's..."

"No need to worry. This room is sealed and under surveillance by me 24/7. Everyone please listen. In a moment, I will be removing your shackles to feed yourselves. Please be advised that you will not be allowed to leave this room or do any harm to yourself or each other. In the event that one of you dies, the remaining shall be punished by removing a single finger from their hands. After eating, please return to your shackles or be forced to do so. That is all."

After saying her piece, the shackles binding all of the test subjects snapped open.

Everyone was still confused as to what was happening. However, one of the men suddenly dashed towards Nicole in an attempt to get her as his hostage.

However, Nicole was an enhanced person due to taking the synthesized zombie virus.

She easily dodged him, grabbed his clothes, and threw him to the ground with a flip!

"f**k! That hurts you b***h!"

Nicole just rolled her eyes and left the room.

The others tried to follow her out but were blocked by Athena who closed the door immediately and locked it.

Nicole sighed as she leaned on the door.

After a while, she left and went to her room to sleep.

Just like that, a whole month had passed.

Luke had finished his testing and experiments on the large mutated zombie so it was time to test it once more on the test subjects.

Luke opened the door to the experiment room and put on a slight smile.

"I'm back. Who wants to volunteer next?"
