CHAPTER TWO- I Don't Want a Mate

Theia's POV  

After Atticus pulls himself off me we are excused from school for the day for obvious reasons, I wasn’t too happy with it, but due to the intense emotions felt the day we find our mate I wasn’t really going to argue, plus it gives me a chance to get in more training, Sab just wanted to spend time with our mate so we can mate an mark each other already but I wasn’t to worried about rushing things, after leaving the classroom we headed out to the car park an I was about to get into my car when Atticus spoke “Hey Beautiful, we don’t know much about each other so how about we go somewhere for lunch? I don’t really know where's good in this place as I'm new here so you want to pick somewhere, and we can go have some coffee or lunch an talk?” I Turned to look at him as he spoke a Sab was going crazy about his suggestion, she was starving and I was also kind of curious to know who my mate is, especially if he isn’t from around here so I was open to entertaining the idea of lunch “Sure, do you want to take my car or yours?” I replied back to him whilst pointing at my little red bug “Uhm, do you mind if we take yours? I don’t actually have a car” He responded whilst looking down nan scratching, he back of his head, almost as if he was embarrassed about not having a car, I mean most of the pack don’t have cars yet either because we don’t really need them anyway “We can take mine, it’s okay most people don’t have cars around here anyway” I replied while walking around to my car an climbing in. 

We sat mostly in silence to the Café, which was awkward, I didn’t know what to say I never once thought about this whole mate thing, growing up it was always drummed into us that life for us women was ‘Find mate, mate with mate, mark mate, have babies, live happily ever after’ but I wasn’t ready to settle down. I mean yes I was still a virgin an I was saving myself for my mate, but I wanted to travel an see the world an train an become the best fighter I could be before I had a mate, I didn’t want people to think I was successful because of my mate an I also didn’t want to be one of those pack wolves that has pups an never achieves anything because I'm a mother, I want to achieve my greatest potential before having to settle down into house wife mode. We arrived at the café an I parked the car as we got out Atticus come over to me an grabbed my arm an turned me to face him, our bodies pressed hard up against each other I could feel his breath of my face my whole body where he was touching me was on fire like tiny little electrical sparks igniting a fire within me that I wasn’t ready for just yet an the he spoke “Theia, do you mind if we hold hands or something? My wolf is going wild for you an wants me to mark a mate with you right here and now, but I can tell that you aren't ready for that so it would be easier to calm him down if we are touching? If that’s okay, it’s okay if it’s not I won’t pressure you” he looked somewhat nervous about asking me but I was so happy that he was honest with me, I've heard stories from some of the mated wolves that sometimes the wolves are that intense once they find their mate that they will often take over an mate an mark each other within the hour of meeting, an I was defiantly not ready for that yet! So, I nodded my head that it was okay, and he smiled the most gorgeous smile and was giddy with excitement “OH MY GOD! Thankyou I’m not sure if I could keep my wolf at bay for much longer if you had of said no, I would have respected your decision an attempted to calm him but I’m not sure how that would go” He replied and kissed my cheek before grabbing a hold of my hand an entwining our fingers together as we walked into the café.

Atticus POV 

Theo was bouncing around in my head giddy with excitement that our mate let us hold her hand, I’m so grateful I was starting to get a headache from keeping Theo at bay an not let him break through an take over. We walked hand in hand into the café in silence I was so nervous I didn’t know what to say, Altheia seemed a bit wary of me and I think I might of scared her back at the school when Theo took over an pinned her against the wall so I figured I would give her space an time to warm up to me in the café around people it didn’t seem like she wanted to be left alone with me so at least this way we are together sort of. When we entered the café we received a lot of different looks, my mate walks up to the counter to order and I just follow behind watching everyone looking at us “Hey Callie, can I please grab my usual? And what would you like?” She turned to ask me with a small smile which made my heart flutter “Oh! Uh… can I just grab an Iced Coffee with no cream please?” I asked the girl behind the counter, Callie I think Altheia called her, she was cute not as beautiful as my mate but I’m sure she would have been popular among men her age if she was like that, she had shoulder length brunette hair with blue eyes an freckles over her face, she had very tiny lips an big eyes, a little button noes an as I was looking her over I noticed she had no mark although she had 3 long claw mark scars where her mark should be. 

Altheia turned to face me, "Do you  wanna take a seat over there an ill be there once our drinks are ready?" she pointed to a seat over in the corner near the front window, i guess she wanted some time with the Callie to gossip because they were both looking at me an Callie wouldn't stop starting an smiling "yeah i can do that for you baby" i replied giving her a kiss on her cheek without even thinking and the look on her face made it even better, she had a look of pure shock an her cheeks flushed red again, Callie was behind her giggling. I walked over to the corner table an sat down an watched the girls at the counter talk, i knew it was about me cause they both kept looking my way, Callie was smiling an teasing Theia while she had a look of shock an embarrassment, an what seemed to be a bit of annoyance about her. 

Theia's POV  

When we entered the cafe everyone from the pack was staring at us, they knew i went to school today so there was no reason i shouldn't still be there, but when they saw Atticus beside me holding my hand they all had their interest's peaked an a few of them tried to mind link me but i put my block up, when we got to the counter to order Callie seen me an came to take our order, she is my best friend we grew up together although she is 2 years older then me we were always getting up to mischief together, we would train together an go to parties together we were 2 peas in a pod. I ordered my coffee an turned to ask Atticus what he wanted an i noticed he was staring at her, more specifically at her neck, a few years ago we had decided to go to New York for a few weeks during school break to celebrate her graduation, while we were there we met some guys at the club an one guy in particular turned out to be Callies mate, as excited as she was to find him it soon turned into her biggest nightmare when it turned out after she an her mate had s*x an the next morning there was banging on the door i opened the door to some girl who was seething in anger an it was only made worse when Callie walked out of her room followed by her mate, the girl at the door eyes turned black an before anyone could even comprehend what was happening she slashed Callie's neck with her claws, right where her mates mark was. Thankfully she didn't die but she was in a coma for weeks by the time she came out of it her mates mark on her neck had disappeared an was replaced with the Claw marks from the other wolf, her mate had rejected her while she was in the coma because he believed she wouldn't wake up, when she did she was so horrified to find out the truth she accepted his rejection before the doctor told her the news that almost killed her, she was pregnant. We  ended up coming home an she had a Little Boy she named Ben. unfortunately because her wolf was busy keeping the pup safe she couldn't properly heal Callie so she was left with the scars from her attack, Ben knows about his dad but his dad doesn't want anything to do with him which is for the better of everyone i think. Knowing Callie an being there for her every day during this ordeal is one of the main reason i dont want a mate.
