“Do you think that if you push me right now, people will not find out that you were the one who pushed me?” Isabella's shaky voice slipped out. Her back was pressed tightly against the railing. She could feel she was going to fall soon and Danaya wouldn’t stop pushing against her. “Who will find out the blind useless wife is gone?” Danaya mocked, her laugh felt like nails puncturing Isabella ’s skin. Tears burned her blind eyes. She wished she could argue but she was the same person who had stayed days without food because no one remembered her. All she got was an apology from her husband. “And, don’t forget that you are blind. I will make it look like you wandered up here on your own and fell. People will simply assume you didn’t know where you were going.” She laughed and that stung Isabella even more. She knew… She knew everyone was going to believe her. Danaya was now everyone’s favorite. She was the one who stood beside Isabella . Everyone called her a good friend for this. Even Isabella ’s husband, Adam, always believed Danaya over her. Isabella felt her hold on the railing slip, and that made her heart sink. “Danaya” Isabella whispered, struggling to steady her voice. “What have I done to deserve this? Not only did you admit that you are the reason I lost my sight… You admitted you were sleeping with my husband, Adam behind my back. And now… now you want to kill me?” Although it had been hard for her to believe she had truly been sleeping with her husband but she had to believe after she watched her moans over the phone with Adam, it was an insane moment for her. She had been shocked beyond words. Realizing that her life was so miserable and no one was coming to save her. She had married the worst husband. She wished that she had never married. Danaya scoffed. “Oh please. Don’t start acting like the victim.” She moved her face closer to her cheek, grabbing the side of her neck. “You were my best friend? We even ate from the same plates but you were too blind to see what was happening. But you were too stupid to see that everything you had, I wanted.” Isabella felt her throat tighten. “You were supposed to be my light,” she said quietly, her voice cracking, “not my doom.” Danaya let out a sharp laugh. “Your light? Isabella , you really are a fool.” Isabella swallowed hard, her heart shaking from the thought that she was going to push her off the cliff. “Why? Why are you doing this?” “Maybe I was really your friend,” Danaya admitted. “Maybe. Until you decided to date Adam. Isabella , you have everything…good looks, perfect parents, wealth that everyone praises you for… and then the only thing I ever wanted for myself, the only man I truly loved but you took him too.” Danaya spat the words with pure hatred. She couldn’t even control herself. She spat at her face with so much anger. “I didn’t take him,” Isabella exhaled, her entire body trembling. She could feel the air scatter over her back and move her hair in the space. Death was licking at her. “Why didn’t you tell me you loved Adam?” She loved Danaya so much and she would pretty much do anything for her. Back then in high school, everyone questioned their friendship but she defended Danaya all the time. Every single time she defended her. Danaya sneered instead, grabbing her shirt, holding her still but also with the power to push her off the railing. Isabella knew this so she held her tight. “And if I had? Would you have released him for me? After you made him fall in love with you? No, Isabella . You stole him. So I made sure to destroy what he felt for you. And I did… the day before your wedding.” Isabella 's eyes went wide and she looked tired, she was exhausted from finding out her best friend didn’t actually love her and it had all been a big fat lie. “What do you mean?” Danaya’s smile became even audible. “Do you remember eight years ago… the one-night stand you had the night before your wedding? The drug you accidentally took? The confusion? The shame? I did that. I orchestrated everything. I put the drugs in your drink, watched you stumble your way into the wrong room… watched you sleep with a stranger.” Isabella ’s stomach twisted violently. “You… you were behind it?” “Yes,” Danaya Hissed. “The night that shattered your life? That was me.” Isabella staggered backward, the truth cutting her open like a blade. That night had haunted her for years. That night made her feel like the worst person to ever exist, like a wife who was not worthy of her husband’s love. . That night had been a nightmare she never wanted to revisit because after that day, Adam began to hate her. “And even though your wedding still happened,” Danaya continued cruelly, “I discovered something interesting afterward. Adam didn’t love you the way I thought. He only married you for your money.” Isabella shook her head in disbelief. “No… no, he loves me.” Danaya laughed sharply. “You are still delusional.” Isabella felt the world collapsing around her. She suddenly felt the atmosphere shift. Everything around her changed in ways that she couldn't explain. Danaya leaned closer, her breath icy on her skin. It felt like thorns that she couldn't pull off her skin. “He knows about everything… how I made you blind, how I drugged you. He knows. And he still chose me. So do us both a favor, Isabella . Die tonight. That way Adam and I can finally enjoy your money and our freedom.” Isabella ’s heart cracked open. Her entire body crumpled with fear, she could already feel her heart pounding so hard in her chest that she wished it would stop. It was so painful like her heart was being ripped open. She wished she could stop it from hurting but it did. It hurt in ways that she couldn’t explain. The man she loved. The man she fought so hard to keep. The man she married despite every red flag… He knew how she became blind. It was incredulous. Her chest tightened with betrayal so deep it wanted to take her breath away. A surge of rage, heartbreak, and despair exploded within her. “No…” she whispered fiercely, her fists trembling and her face in no particular direction. “I will make you pay for this.” Danaya let out a mocking laugh. “You? A blind woman?” She clicked her tongue. “We decide your fate, not you. You who cannot even look at me directly in the eyes.” Before Isabella could react, Danaya grabbed her wrist hard. Her nails dug into Isabella ’s skin as she yanked her forward with a strength fueled by hatred. Isabella stumbled, her hands scraping against the cold metal railing. Panic was devouring every one of her senses. “Danaya, please!” she cried, her voice cracking. “Don’t do this!” She sobbed and begged and as she did her hand kept slipping and then she felt a sharp cut on her wrist, the force had made the railing cut her. The pain seared through her in ways she couldn’t explain. Tears filled her eyes and ran down both sides of her cheeks. But Danaya didn't listen Isabella felt herself being pushed, her fingers slipping against the railing, her body losing balance and the air engulfing her forcefully. And then she fell. Thump! Cold air engulfed her and she shut her eyes allowing death and darkness to devour her. The world tilted around her violently. And she expected to hit the hard floor and vanish from the face of the earth. The people she loved hated her… she didn’t want to live anymore either. ******* The sound of a door moaning open suddenly came sharply in Isabella 's ears, it was like a sharp bell that she couldn't put off, and that made her sit up instantly. She flung her eyes open and looked toward the door, but before she could make sense of who was there, a sharp pain from her wrist took her attention, making her turn toward her arm. She had wondered if she was dead prior but the cut from the railing made her realise that she hadn’t died. It wasn’t a dream either and that made her so happy. And then she realized that she could see her room. Her vision was not very clear; but it wasn't dark either. Did I regain my sight? It was blurry yet she could see who was at the door. It was Danaya and she instantly jumped to her feet. And then footsteps stopped beside her before she could even move toward the door. “Awake already?” Scarlett’s voice dripped with sweetness. “Have you been waiting for me?” She added, all smiles and love. Isabella was shocked. She sat back, trying to make out her nemesis. Didn’t she just try to kill me? It was strange for Isabella but she relaxed even though in situations like this she wasn’t supposed to relax. She was with the person who tried to kill her. Then Danaya grabbed her hand and even with her blurry vision, she was able to recognize her golden ring. It was her wedding ring and she had picked it out with Adam. It was one of a kind. Danaya was wearing it. And then the memory hit her. The same moment was three years ago. She had asked Danaya about the ring and Danaya had said that it was merely delusions and she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring. Isabella proceeded to confirm her theory and as expected, she was right. Wait… Wait… Did I go back to three years ago.. the very day that I made Adam the CEO of my company because it was our fifth year anniversary, so I gave him as a wedding gift, she wondered in her heart looking around. The next moment happened and that confirmed everything that Isabella was thinking. Danaya had gotten herself a table frame of her and Adam as a present. “Happy Fifth Anniversary, baby.”She hugged her like she actually meant it. Three years ago Isabella had stupidly believed it but now, realizing she had been reborn, she wouldn’t take the bullshit. First, she needed to find out if Adam had found the transfer docume nt and signed it. That was the beginning of her misery five years ago. She needed to stop him before he signed the document!
