His Arrival

Claudine let out ridiculous laughter. At first, I believed he had agreed with me but again, he would not cease to be himself. My brows furrowed. Anger welled up in me.

“I am very sorry, Alpha Rex but what you just said is quite ridiculous.

It cannot be possible, we have to think of something else” He suggested, crossing his hands behind him.

I sighed as I walked back to my bed. I had never imagined being in a situation like this.

I was upset. Upset at my wolf for putting me through such.

“Leave. I need to rest.” I frowned as I walked towards the bathroom.

“Shall I call in the maids so they could come to bathe you?”

“I said leave!”

Just like I was getting upset with my wolf, it was getting upset with me as well. I was feeling so hot.

I needed to cool off so I decided to have my bath. I just wanted to be alone because I could hurt anyone who come near me and that was my reason for sending Claudine off.

Just like he understood my mood, he nodded and walked out.

I grabbed a towel and proceeded toward the bathroom. I quickly got into the bath and yes, it was just like I wanted it.

The water was quite cool but it still didn’t melt the anger in my heart.

Regardless, I had my bath and walked out of the bath. Just as I was wiping off the water from my body, I heard a knock on the door.

Who could it be? I rolled my eyes as I grabbed a robe and wrapped myself in it.

“Rex, are you still up?”

It was mother. Oh no. I creased my brows even more but somehow, the anger in my heart faded.

If there was anything mother was going to say right now, it was going to be a sermon on getting a mate so I could be the next Alpha and not my younger brother.

She had always loved me more than my younger brother.

I tried to tiptoe back to my bed and pretend to be asleep as I didn’t want to hear anything but then, my leg hit one of the bottles that were on the floor. Damn!

If the maids had come in, they would have cleaned it up.

“Son? Are you okay?”

Mother’s voice was an embodiment of fear and she began to place incessant knocks on the door.

Mother was one hell of a dramatic woman.

“Hold on, mother. I will be there in a bit”

I sighed as I walked to the door and opened it, a frown on my face. “I was heading to bed” I grudgingly answered as I walked to my bed.

She had a pitiful look on her face as she sat on the chair where Terra had initially sat.

She looked around, staring at the flowers, the bottles of wine, and the glasses.

A smile curved on her face as even a toddler could tell that it was a romantic setting between a man and a woman.

“Who was here? Who was with you?” She raised her brows like she was inspecting.

“Terra” I answered and lay on the bed, turning to the other side of the bed. I didn’t want to see her or look at her at all as I know what her reaction would be.

“Really? Terra, the daughter of.....

"Terra is your….” She sounded with excitement although she tried to hide her joy I knew what she wanted to say so.

“She is not my mate and she is not my Luna” I cut her short and then pulled up my duvet over my head.

“Why? What do you mean? Rex, you…”

“Goodnight mother” I answered again with a frown on my face.

Realizing I was not ready to talk or say anything, she decided to leave, disappointed in her exhales. I wasn’t bothered anyway.

“Good morning, your Highness” The maids greeted.

A smile was plastered on their faces. I groaned as I turned on the bed. It was morning already? I didn’t want to wake up yet but I had to have breakfast.

Ray, his mate, and his daughter would be coming today as Father had asked him to come.

Father had told him and everyone else that it was to celebrate and prepare for me to be the next Alpha but I knew it was just to prepare him for the throne instead if I didn’t get a mate.

I hissed as I lazily stood up. I took off my garment and walked to the bathroom. The maids bowed and followed me.

Well, they had no choice. Ray would be coming and my face furrowed even more as the sight of him formed in my head, a grin of mockery on his face.

Never would he be the Alpha when I still exist. I had to disappoint him at all costs.

I had to find my mate tonight.

A party would be thrown in celebration of his arrival and Alphas from far and near would be coming to merry with us.

More beautiful females would be coming tonight and of course, there would be a lot of ladies to have ‘fun’ with.

A smile formed on my face as I imagined all that could happen.

“We are done, your Majesty” The maids announced with a smile on my face. I nodded and quickly walked out of the bathroom, a smile on my face.

The maids had already gotten the clothes I wanted to wear so I hurriedly got draped in them and sat still as they made my hair into something beautiful.

Just then, I heard a knock on the door. I hoped it would not be mother wanting me to look my best to impress Father and even look more appealing than my brother.

I knew better than to dress shabbily. I had to dress even more appealing because I knew Ray would want to look his best as well.

Ever since we were so little, Ray had always tried to look and act better than me to impress Father and make Father like him the more, and of course, he always won, and yet again, he has won.

He has a mate and a family but what do I have?

I also didn’t want it to be Father who would come to remind me to get set and come bring my brother and his family in.

“Your Highness, the younger Alpha is around” Claudine came in, looking scared.
