Chapter 4

1400 Words
***Jack’s POV*** I tap my fingers impatiently on the old rusty metal handle of the lawn chair that I am sitting in, I look towards the barely visible forest in front of me. Even with the soothing sounds of the trees rustling in the breeze, my impatience is growing high. He’s never this late. Did he get caught? All my years of careful planning, are they ruined because the id*ot couldn’t do his job properly? Be patient Jack, he still has 2 minutes to get here. No ponit in stressing when he still has time. Otis my wolf says, trying to calm me down. Shut up mutt, I don't have time to talk to you right now. I growled back at him and blocked the connection. He hated it when I did that, but I needed silence. I glanced down at my watch, getting more frustrated. It’s 1:30 in the morning. I paused my tapping and listened carefully to hear if he was making his way through the forest, but all I heard was the sound of the trees rustling in the breeze and the croaking of the frogs. I let out a sigh and started tapping again. Even though most of my attempts to capture Ivy had failed, having David on my side was the best decision I had made. With him working for the council, it made it easy to cover up what I did to Ivy’s family, it also makes him an excellent spy. Which is exactly what he has been doing for me for nearly twenty years. For twenty long years I have been working on this plan and now that I am so close to Ivy, so close to implementing the plan, the f*cken d*ck head gets caught. I ball my hands into fists and slam them against the chair handle. The handle breaks and the old lawn chair sags to the left. I stand up and with a curse toss the chair over the side of the balcony where it falls with a thud onto the grass. I reached for another lawn chair when I heard something. A small click from a door opening comes from the kitchen. He’s back finally. I unfold the lawn chair i was about to throw and take a set, leaning my head against the wall behind me. I drum my fingers as the glass sliding door opens and David slips through it taking a set on the empty plastic chair beside mine. “Sorry I'm late.” His tone is casual as he stretches out his legs in front of him and leans back into the chair. “I had to wait for a bit for it to be clear before I could leave. There were guards all over the f*cken place.” I sighed annoyed that he wasn't getting to the point. “David, what did you find?” I growled. He raised an eyebrow at me and I just scowled at him. “I found out that Ivy and Tobias have gone to New Zealand. They are coming back tomorrow night.” I smiled at that. “Did you figure out why they were there?” “All I got was that they were searching for something and that they had found it.” He turned his head toward the inside of the Packhouse. “I’m starving. Got any food or beer?” “Later!” I growled and waved my hand impatiently at him. “Tell me more?” David pulled a face and flopped back against the chair again. “I got the rogue Pack to attack them while I snuck in to the Packhouse to try and find what they were searching for. The only thing I found was that Ivy is pregnant with twins.” I listened intently. Ivy, pregnant with twins, puts a pause on the plan. I won’t be able to take her powers until the babies are born. I nodded for him to continue. “The twins are due to be born in 3 months. Just after that would be the best time to attack, they would be distracted with the babies to worry about their Luna.” I smiled. Everything is falling into place. David glanced behind him again. “It’s been a long day, I could eat.” I ignored him. “Did there Pack have anyone come and help them fight?” I stood up needing to move around. “Yeah, it looked like Alpha Nicks Pack is working closely with them. “What!” I stopped pacing and turned to face him. “You should have led with that!” I snarled at him. David shrugged and glanced over his shoulder into the kitchen again. I growled and waved my hand at the door, indicating he could go and get some food. He would be useless until he ate and I could think about the information he already gave me. I turned and held onto the balcony railing, looking out into the dark forest. This complicates things. The number of Pack members isn’t surprising, but having help from another Pack complicates things. I ran my hand through my hair. We will have to make some adjustments to the plan. We will need to make sure that when we attack, we are successful. We can’t fail, we can’t give them a chance to prepare. David slips back through the door with a sandwich and a beer. “When did you say they would be back from New Zealand?” David had just taken a large bite of his sandwich. He takes a few chews, swallows and a quick drink of his beer before answering. “They will return tomorrow night.” He took another bite. “That's good.” I rub my chin as I think out loud. “Yes, that’s good. We can stick with the plan, even though it diverges a bit. It’s helpful that they would be focused on the pups, we can ambush them when they lest expect it.” I watch David swallow and take another drink of his beer. “Is she really as powerful as they say?” He asked, taking another bite of his food. “More.” I feel both excitement and nerves. “We need that power, but to capture it is going to be difficult. Do they know that we have found the ring and bracelet yet?” David shrugs. “I doubt it. I think they’re in denial over it, especially Brittney.” He says and I think for a moment. “Do they even trust Brittney?” David throws this out casually before taking another bite. I looked at him in surprise. “Yes, I believe they do. From what happened when they came to rescue her, I'm pretty sure she is in deep with their Pack.” I growl as I rubbed my shoulder where her pathetic mate stabbed me. I knew she would turn out to be useless, but no matter, we had a plan. I feel excited energy running through me again. Finally, things are being put into place. We will get our prize. We may not need Ivy to get her powers. Otis said as he growl turned his back on my for blocking him. What are you talking about mutt? I am not going to tell you until you apologies for blocking me. He growled. I rolled my eyes at him. Fine i'm sorry, now why won't we need her. Otis turns and smiles at me. Ivy is regent right, her pups will have the powers of the White Wolf. If we can't get to her we can take the pups. I smile as a new plan forms in my head. I smile and look over at David. “If we can't get a hold of Ivy then we take her pups. Well done David.” I couldn’t help throwing my head back with a laugh. "What are you talking about?" He asked "If our spy isn't able to do his job to get Ivy then we can take her pups. They pouses the powers of the White Wolf and because they will be young we can use them easily." I say turning to face him. David has a massive smile on his face and can see a plan forming in his mind. “Let the games begin."
