[ CHAPTER SIX
Befriending the Conqueror ]
[SIENNA'S POINT OF VIEW]
I woke with a start. Sweat flowed down from my temples. I embraced myself when I felt the cold wind of the night slip inside my room. I looked at the source and saw my windows open.
The memories I've tried hard to forget, to suppress, have been resurfacing back again.
---
I was slightly awake after hearing the annoying doorbell. I lay on my bed and contemplated on my thoughts. I was probably absent for a week already and I don't know if I can complete my education or even complete this school year.
I wasn't normal, I never was. I tried to be one, I desperately tried but the things I see every day, every night, every shadow in the corner just frightens me down to my bones.
When I heard that a visitor came over and that he was from school, I quickly shot up straight.
Cedrick.
He might've been left with a bitter taste too after I ended our conversation like that. I felt guilt and hopefully, today we would make up. I don't want to lose my only real friend.
I brushed my hair, powdered my face a bit to hide the dark circles under my eyes and applied some lip balm to look vibrant and healthy.
I went down the doors with visible hopping energy and felt the feeling of using my legs after a long time, odd.
In the corner of my eye, I saw Grandma fussing over the kitchen, baking something and entered the living room with a smile.
I felt my smile freeze or rather; it felt like my whole being was completely frozen over. I blinked my eyes twice to see the same person!
The Narcissist of Lotus Academy!
What the hell!
I glared at the guy comfortably sipping tea while fiddling with his tablet. H looked up and stood up to greet me.
"Good Morning Miss." His right hand reached out for a handshake.
I eyed his hand and scoffed.
"It seems that you're following me, I suggest you stop it." I looked at him with triumph in my face.
He was about to retort, based on the unhappy expression on his face but he decided against it. He pulled his hand back and looked at me with a mocking gaze.
"Oh, it's you. It seems you look human today."
"Excuse me!"
I was ready to fight him physically, I've had enough of this pompous guy but then Grandma returned with a plate of cookies and a whole pecan pie.
She joined in the discussion with an amiable smile and sat by my side. He began to state his purpose while I made insulting gestures and smug expressions. When Grandma turned to look at me, I smiled innocently at her.
"Ma'am, it has come to our headmaster's attention that Ms Miracle have been absent for a week already. Taking into consideration that she is the daughter of his friend, he wants to inquire about her situation.
He explained with a very well-mannered smile but for me it looked so plastic, so fake.
"Oh, I see. It's already that long huh. We will inform the school when she will go back." My grandmother briefly answered.
We continued to discuss of the events I missed in school, subjects, projects and activities. He even compiled the notes I missed so that I won't get left behind.
"It's expected as I am the Student Council President after all." He smiled.
I was already mentally dancing when he was about to leave but my grandmother just had to order me to accompany him out.
"You're the president?" I asked, baffled.
"Yes. What did you think I was?"
"The typical narcissist." I bluntly answered.
I could faintly see a vein bulging near his forehead as he tried to speak to me with the same politeness from earlier.
"It seems that you're still the same even with natural blonde hair-Foul-mouthed and ill mannered." He started to walk away.
"Hey, wait up!" I called out to him.
He walked with so much grace that you would almost not notice the fact that his face was close to running. I don't know why I easily got tired out today but I was huffing and panting as I tried to catch up to him. I rested a little and when I stepped my right foot, I landed on a small uneven patch of land as I tripped on the roots of a huge tree.
I was sure that I had scraped my knees and sprained my ankle a little bit and even shouted quite loud in pain but he, that man, never looked back or even paused.
I tried to catch up but I was already falling behind as my pace was slowed by my injuries.
Damn that guy. What good manners?! What student council president?!
I only see a rude, narcissistic, and two-faced *******!
I heard the sound of something within the bushes and expected a rabbit or something but what came out made me scream.
In summary, I was chased by a wild boar and got the president involved too. I planned to run faster and let him be trampled by the animal when he actually run faster than me! It somehow became a race and he started to part ways with me but I followed him which led to us hiding in a safe place away from the sight of the wild boar.
"Are you stupid?" he asked in between huffs and pants.
"Excuse me?"
"You really are."
"Listen here, Mister-"
"Viktor." He supplied.
"Yes, Mister Viktor-"
"How about go home and take a shower, continue this tomorrow?" He said as he stood up and held a hand to help me up.
After listening to him, I realized how messy he looked. He was sweating, hair ruffled in a million directions and few leaves stuck to him and I couldn't help but laugh.
I raised my brow when he laughed at the same time too.
"I'm sorry for the wrong impression. How about we start over, Ms Sienna."
The laughter I experienced earlier erased all hate I had with him.
"No problem, Mr. Viktor."
We shook hands and then I turned away but he grabbed my forearm and said, "wait" and with a hint of reluctance and worry in his eyes, he handed me five bandages.
I was more shocked at the number of bandages from his pocket but seeing his goodwill and slightly embarrassed face, I didn't tease him and said thanks.
We parted ways with smiles on our faces and I went home and when I saw my own reflection in the mirror, I burst into laughter again.
