Lukas brought me to the pack house around lunch time. He introduced me to some of the omegas who did the cooking and took care of the house. The head omega of the kitchen, Sue, had finished making a buffet of different foods. There was pasta, breads, salad, fruit, fish, chicken, pizza, pie, cakes, and just about anything you can think of. Lukas explained that many of our pack warriors and their families come by for lunch. They use it as time to socialize and eat together since dinner was generally spent in their own houses. Lukas sat at the head of the table after pulling her chair out and letting her sit to the right of him. To her Right sat Cole. Lukas introduced her some of the others at their table. Jax, she learned was the lead warrior in the pack. Jax's mate Kate that had taken care of her at the hospital was a nurse and Beau was the gamma of the pack. Beau's mate was Dr.Reid... er... Sarah, who had treated her when she was found. She shyly nodded to each of them. . "Does Cole not have a mate?" She whispered to Lukas "No, he hasn't found her. Don't worry, he doesn't get too lonely if you know what I mean" he said winking. She didn't know why but for some reason, when she said that, I felt a pang of anger. I quickly brushed it off and joined back in the conversation.

She found it easy to get comfortable with this group, quickly realizing everything she had been taught was wrong. She watched in aw of the way the mates around me interacted with each other. They were playful and affectionate, but most of all they were happy. She found herself smiling looking at Lukas. He caught her stare and smiled his warm smile back at her. She couldn't help but melt in his gaze and quickly leaned in and pecked his lips before pulling away and blushing. He looked like he had been given the most amazing gift in the world. He gently wrapped his arm around her waste and pulled her toward him as she leaned my head on his shoulder. "Hey Lukas, I've got to run into town and grab a few things. Would you and Lacey like to come? I know you were wanting to let her get some new things."

She looked up at him and shook my head. "I can't... I don't have any money to" He stopped her mid-sentence shaking his head. "I didn't ask if you have money. I told you, little one, anything you want. " He looked over at Cole. "I think I just want to get her settled in first. Lacey, can you think of anything you would like?" She nodded. "Can... can I have a book... or something.. to do... when I'm waiting for you?" He grinned and shook his head. "You do know, you will not be kept in our room, right?" She looked confused. "Is.. is there somewhere else I will stay?" He looked at her and she saw the sympathy in his eyes. "My love, you have access to the entire territory. We have shops, restaurants, a park, a lake, and of course the woods where you can let your wolf run. We also have a library and a theater here in the pack house." He was nervous when she knitted her eyebrows together. "What is it, love?" She bit at her before looking up at him. "What is a library and a theater?"

"Oh, Love. I have much to show you. Kate, tomorrow, will you take Lacey around? Show her what pack life should be?" Kate excitedly squealed. "FINALLY! Girl, I will show you everything. I need someone to drag all over and have fun with since Sarah practically LIVES at the pack hospital" She looked pointedly at Sarah who just shrugged her shoulders grinning. Lacey watched in aw again at the interactions wondering what he life would be here and if she truly had found somewhere she could be...happy.

*Two Month Later*

Lacey woke up excited. Today, she would be going to the mall for the first time ever. Lukas had promised to take her for a fun day off the territory. She threw on her red tank and black sleep shorts before heading to the dining room for breakfast. She heard Lukas through the door of his office. She debated on stopping but the tone in his voice made her change her mind. She would just see him at breakfast. She walked down and as she entered the dining room, she looked around at the ones who have become her family. She watched as Kate and Jax were teasing each other and Beau and Sarah who were whispering quietly to each other. She smiled at Cole who was sucking down his plate. That boy could put some food away and never gain an ounce of anything but muscle.

She had grown close to Cole. Whenever Lukas was unavailable to be with her, Cole was usually there with her. "Lace, come sit down before Jax here eats all the food" Cole yelled, motioning for her to sit next to him. "Yeah, cause I'm the one on my.. what.. third plate?" Jax raised an eyebrow and Cole just shrugged. She thanked the omega who handed her her plate as she walked over and sat next to Cole.

He reached over and took a piece of bacon off her plate. She smacked his hand playfully. "Hey! Come on!" He pouted. She giggled and shook her head. "You know, you really shouldn't try to steal a starving girl's food!" She had grown comfortable enough with Cole and Lukas to tell them about the abuse she had received in the past. Needless to say, they both were murderous when they heard it all. Since then, she hardly ever went anywhere without one of them by her side, but she didn't mind. She enjoyed both of their company. "I think we have corrected the starving girl problem a few weeks ago, Lace," She faked offense with her mouth opened and a hand over her heart. "Is that a fat joke?" Cole's eyes widened and he quickly shook his head. "No! Not at all Lace, I was just... I didn't..." She burst out laughing at his stuttering. "You are perfect" he whispered, barely loud enough for even her wolf hearing to pick up. She noticed a slight blush to his face as she grinned and looked at her plate.

She felt her wolf stir as she got a whiff of her mate. She looked to the door just as Lukas walked in, looking irritated. He was only in a pair of basketball shorts. She bit her lip before regaining her composure. Damn her mate was fine. He grabbed his plate from the omega mumbling a thank you. He sat at the table with a frustrated sigh. Lacey place a hand on his shoulder and he quickly picked her up, pulling her into his lap and burying his face in her neck. He deeply inhaled her scent and she felt him start to relax as she rubbed her fingers through his hair. "What's wrong, love?" She whispered to him. "There is an alpha from another pack insisting we meet today to discuss a possible alliance. I have been hesitant in the past to form an alliance and have managed to put him off. I'm afraid now, he is not exactly asking to meet. If I don't I am afraid he will declare a war and I prefer not to have a senseless war. I won't be able to take you to the mall today. I'm sorry. I know you wanted to go." He stroked her cheek. She gently smiled and him and kissed his cheek. "Luke, I understand. You have to take care of the pack. We can always go to the mall another day"

"I can take you. I need to run in to town anyway." Cole said as he took a drink of his coffee. Lukas looked from Cole to Lacey. "Well...okay. If it's okay with Lacey, but I want you to take a few extra guards. I don't like the idea of her being that far away from me, but I also prefer her to be here when another alpha is present." Cole nodded his head and looked at Lacey expectantly. "Of course. Sounds fine to me." Cole smiled. "Great. I'll have the car ready in about 2 hours, that okay?" She nodded and finished her breakfast, feeding Lukas a few bites as well.

When she finished she excused her self and hopped off Lukas' lap to go shower and get dressed. She was halfway up the stairs when a strong set of arms picked her up. She squirmed and giggled but it was no use. "LUKAS! Put me down!" He let out a deep laugh and began to tickle her. "AHHH...Luke...Stop... you are going to make us fall!" *Lacey POV*

After our long shower, I had to hurriedly get ready for my trip to the mall with Cole. This would be my first trip off of the territory. I threw on her a pair of skinny jeans, a black tank, and teal converse. Brushing out my hair and putting it into a braid that draped over my shoulder and ran out the door. When I walked to the door Cole and Lukas were waiting for me. I walked up to Lukas, wrapping my arms around him and laying my head on his chest.

Lukas kissed my forehead. "I will see you when you get back. Cole has my card. Anything you want is yours" He turned to Cole "That's an order" Cole smiled and nodded "Yes, Alpha. Come on Lace, Let's go have some fun"

I gave Lukas a quick kiss before following Cole to a large Black SUV. He opened the door and helped me in before running to the driver's side. The whole way we talked about different things. Cole told me all kinds of stories about when he and Lukas were kids. I told him of different things I wanted to do, now that I wasn't being held as a slave. We made it to the mall and my mind was blown at how huge it was. He took me into all kinds of stores. I tried on different clothes. He would look at me in each one and tell me how beautiful I looked. I even tried on some silly glasses and hats. He just grinned and shook his head, telling me I could make anything work. We went to book stores and I picked up a few that weren't in the library at the house. We looked through jewelry stores and talked about the different styles of different pieces. Blame it on my background, but I loved the simple designs. He even took my to buy a purse and assured me that Kate could explain it's function because it was out of his area of expertise. I giggled at his blushing face when we went into a*****e called Victoria's Secret because I wanting to pick up some underwear. Lukas owed me a set anyway.

As we checked out of the store, I felt my belly growl. Now that I have been able to eat more, I stay hungry more often. Lukas told me that was normal for a wolf. As my strength grows, so will my hunger. As we sat in the food court splitting a pizza, Cole told me about Lukas giving his dad, the Alpha at the time, hell with his shenanigans and often in front of visiting Alphas. He also told me about how their moms were best friends until his mom was killed in a rogue attack. "I'm so sorry Cole" I said as I reached out and took his hand. I noticed the blush and pulled my hand back. "So, I haven't seen that she wolf around recently. What was her name... pasty?" I said getting her name wrong on purpose. "Paisley. Nah, I ended that a few weeks ago. It was getting boring and she was so clingy" I nodded. I didn't quite care for the wolf hanging all over my friend. It always made me uncomfortable. "So.. have you felt drawn to anybody?" I quietly asked. "Eh... I'm..." He shook his head staring at the pizza. I bit my lip waiting for his response. "There is.. but... she has a mate. I'm glad she is happy. I love seeing her happy... but I can't help feeling... just a pull towards her.."

I looked up into his eyes and I felt the sudden urge to kiss him. I felt myself leaning in as I felt him lean in as well. He quickly pulled back turning his head and I looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry" He whispered. My head shot up at him. "Why are you apologizing? I shouldn't have... I shouldn't have tried.." He looked into my eyes. "I shouldn't take advantage. You have been through so much. And you are my best friends mate. I'm sorry, Lacey" I wanted to something but I just couldn't find the words.

"Can I ask you something, Lace?" I nodded, curious of his question. "Who was the alpha, who... who hurt you?" I swallowed hard thinking. "He never really told me his name, but one time while he was... on top of me..." I felt him tense and saw his jaw clinch but he didn't interrupt "An omega ran in and called him Alpha.... Efrin... or efran..." I closed my eyes trying to remember.... "Ephraim?" Cole questioned. Hearing the name made my blood run cold. Instinctively. I cowered at the name. "We have to go. NOW!" Cole stood up suddenly, grabbing my bags in one hand before grabbing my hand with his other and pulling me up. I stumbled for a second but his firm grip didn't allow me to fall.

He pulled out his phone and made a call. "Luke, Is Alpha Jacobs still there? I need you to send a picture of him from the security cams to me right now. I'll explain in a minute, just trust me." In a minute we were back in the SUV flying back to the pack house. His phone went off and he looked at the message before turning the screen to me and asking "Is this the Alpha?" As soon as I saw his evil face, I started to hyperventilate and get dizzy. I didn't even realize I has started crying until Cole was wiping my tears. "Lace, listen to me. He will NEVER hurt you again, okay? I swear. If I have to stay by your side every second of every day, you are safe" I shook my head looking into his eyes knowing he truly believed that. He started dialing the phone again. "Luke, it's him. That's the fucker that hurt, Lacey. Please tell me we didn't sign a treaty with him" He listened for a moment and breathed out a sigh of relief. "We'll be home in 10"

I stared out the window trying to stay calm. That monster was in my house, sitting with my mate. Did he know I was there? Would he try to come for me? I know Lukas and Cole would protect me the best they could, but would that be enough?

Lukas was waiting in the driveway when we got home. I barreled out of the car and jumped in his arms sobbing. He held me tight as I wrapped my legs around his tall frame like a child. He stroked my hair and shushed me calmly. He carried me upstairs to my room. He sat with me on the bed and held me until my sobs had calmed to whimpers.

*Alpha Jacobs*

As soon as I walked in, I smelled her. That sweet aroma belonged to my little flower. It had been two months since she had run away. How convenient that she ran to the pack I was trying to get a treaty established with. I knew that mutt Black wouldn't give her back easy. He had always been a wuss when it came to women, just like his father. The thought of another man with my flower made my blood boil. SHE. IS. MINE! I saved her. I raised her. I groomed her. I prepared her to bare MY pups, not some pathetic mutt! I will get her back. The more I thought about my flower's escape the angrier I got. My flower was the best at taking my anger. Those beautiful blue eyes looking at me just made punishments that much more enjoyable. I will bring you home, flower. You WILL bare my pups. I growled loudly at the empty room before mind linking for an omega to be brought to my room. She got on the bed, and I prepared her for my punishment while imagining my flower. I WILL BRING HER HOME AND SHE WILL BE MINE!

*Lacey*

I opened my eyes to find myself in my bed. At some point, I had fallen asleep and I'm assuming Lukas pulled the covers over me. I was still wearing the same clothes. He has been gentle with me, knowing my past and probably assumed I would be upset to be undressed while asleep. I got up and made my way to my closet. All the things I had bought today with Cole had been neatly put away. I pulled out a pajama set I had bought and laid it on the bed. I couldn't shake the uncomfortable feeling of being alone. I knew Lukas would protect me, and even Cole would, but something about knowing the Alpha had been here in our home made me sick to my stomach. I felt my panic start to rise again and I ran to my door with the intentions of finding Lukas. I ran straight into the hard chest of Cole.

"Whoa, hey, Lace! Where are you going? Are you okay? What's wrong?" He asked nearly frantically looking me over for wounds. "I'm okay, I'm okay. I just got a little worked up. Being in my room alone, knowing Alpha had been here...." I shook my head and closed my eyes, focusing on staying calm. "It's okay. I promise, Lace, you are safe." He said as he placed a piece of hair behind my ear. I smiled up at him. There was something about Cole that put me at ease, and made my heart flutter. "Can you stay with me? Just until I fall asleep?" I asked, reminding myself of a child. He took a deep breath and hesitated. "Please, Cole. I just... I can't be alone right now." I said, feeling a tear well up in my eye. He slowly and quietly let out the breath he was holding and nodded. I took his hand and walked him into the room. He sat in a chair in the corner as far away from the bed as possible. "I have to change and I will be back" I grabbed the pajamas and ran to the bathroom.

I was almost done getting ready for bed when I heard a loud growl and a deep voice yelling. I ran out of the bathroom to see Lukas with his arm around Cole's throat, holding him against the wall. I ran over grabbing his arm "Lukas! LET GO! STOP! HE CAN'T BREATH! LUKAS, PLEASE!" I felt a hand knock the breath out of me as it collided with my stomach and sent me flying to the floor. I looked up to see Lukas' face full of guilt as he realized what he had done. Before he could react, Cole drove a fist straight into his jaw knocking him back. "You bastard! Don't you EVER f*****g hit her!" He said as he drove a fist towards Lukas face. Lukas blocked it and responded with a hit on Cole. As I watched the two trading blows, something snapped inside me. I felt that all too familiar fear, but this time I didn't resist the need to run. I bolted out the door and ran as fast as my body could handle. I ran through the woods until I came to a clearing. There was a bluff and down below, was rushing water. I held my breath and closed my eye. As I contemplated letting go, I felt a weak yet familiar stir. "Don't" I heard my wolf say. With that, I fell to my knees and cried.
