Chapter 3

Trevor The airport wasn’t as busy as it usually is. It was small compared to most airports in the US. I texted my sister to see if she had landed yet. I would have sent one of my guards, but my sister was unmated and, according to her, she would be in heat soon. I was disturbed, but since I didn’t want to chance her being in a car with any unmated males, I decided to pick her up myself. Besides, I hadn’t seen her since she went off to school almost a year ago. As I waited, a beautiful scent stopped me. I inhaled, following the direction it was moving in. I stopped and saw her from behind. Her hair was braided with some sort of jewelry in it. She was shaped like an hourglass, but petite. She had to be 5’1 to my 6’5. The black dress she was wearing hugged her curves perfectly. I continued forward. She turned around, almost running into me. I inhaled. There was something besides her scent that was familiar. My wolf growled. “Mate!” She looked startled. Her eyes widened and her body tensed up. “Mine.” Her jaw dropped. She’s human. A human mate? For an Alpha like me? She wouldn’t be able to handle it. What the f**k could I possibly do with a human for a mate? Is this some sick joke? A weakling had no place in my pack. I couldn’t deny the bond, however. It was strong. My wolf craved her touch. I wanted to mark her in that moment. I could smell her arousal as she stood staring at me. Her breathing had become heavy. She could feel the bond. That wasn't normal for human mates. I frowned. The beautiful brown eyes staring at me were begging for me to love her. I grabbed her bag and lifted her, carrying her out to my car. Just then, my sister came running. “Hey, Trevor! Wait up!” I stopped and turned to look at her. She looked confused as she looked at the human and back at me. “I’ll explain when we get to the packhouse.” "Put me down, please." Her harmonic voice halted my steps. I placed her down and grabbed her hand, perhaps out of fear that she'd run. I gave her a warning before we continued out to the parking lot. We left the airport and headed back to Blood Moon. “Where are we going? I have to get back to school.” She was clearly nervous, as her voice shook. I continued driving, while my sister stared at me from the passenger seat. “Dude. You can’t just kidnap a human.” “Mate.” My wolf spoke to her through mindlink. Her eyes widened and she turned to look at the human. “No way.” I didn’t say anything else. She sat back in her seat and shook her head. *** The packhouse was busy preparing for my sister’s return. There were omegas carrying trays of food to the picnic tables outside. It was nice out, so it was no surprise the pack wanted to have an outside party. I parked and retrieved my mate, leading her straight to my room and hoping no one noticed, although I could hear the whispers. I mindlinked my sister. “Don’t tell anyone!” “Sheesh. You have my word. I don’t gossip anyway.” I severed the link. "Your name?" I could tell she was nervous and afraid. I wanted to soothe her and make her feel comfortable. My wolf, the savage he was, even wanted to hold and caress her. She was this beautiful, tiny goddess and I was fighting the mate bond. I had to reject her. She didn't belong here. "Eve." “Stay here.” She nodded shyly, glancing around the room. “Where am I?” Her voice was small. It made me sick. “My room. Don’t go anywhere. Don’t talk to anyone. I will rip out your throat. Am I clear?” She nodded quickly, averting her eyes to the floor. “Good. I’ll be back in a few hours.” I felt bad making her scared like that, which was new for me. Usually, making anyone shake in their knees felt damn good. I needed to figure out what to do with her. Surely I couldn’t make her my Luna. She’s human! The Moon Goddess must be angry with me to pair me with a human. I just couldn’t get over that. “Alpha Trevor!” I heard a familiar voice, one that I hated. “What is it, Leanne?” “Well, I thought I’d give you something. You know, the way you like it.” For the first time, I felt repulsed by her coming on to me. Before a couple of hours ago, I found the omegas throwing themselves at me rather sexy. It showed their confidence a little. I had sort of a kink for omegas with confidence. Leanne was the most confident of all. Plus, she was a good lay. But I couldn’t even stomach having s*x with her at the moment. I scoffed, pushing past her and out of the packhouse. I shifted, allowing my wolf to run freely. I needed to make a decision before the day ended. I had awaited the day I'd find my mate since I became Alpha of Blood Moon. The day had finally arrived, only for me to be disappointed. For her own protection, I had to reject her and get her as far away from my territory as possible. If she stayed here past tonight, it could be dangerous. Only a few people had seen her come in. I had time to consult with my Beta before Troy's welcome home party. I mindlinked him, instructing him to meet me in my office immediately. I shifted back, walking back to the packhouse on a mission. When I arrived, I went straight to my office on the second floor. Rifling through my drawer, I found a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt and dressed myself. Lionel, my Beta, walked in and sighed deeply. "What kinda trouble are you in now?" He folded his arms. "None. But my mate might be." "Wait ... mate? Dude! You found your mate?!" His eyes were popping out of his head in disbelief. "Yes." I glared at him. "That's great, man! You need someone to slow you down some. So where is she?" "In my room." "Bring her down! Let's meet her." He waited for my response. I took a deep breath before I continued. "She's human." His grin faded and he looked down at the floor with a puzzled expression on his face. He pursed his lips and looked up at me. "That can't be good." "Exactly." "Well, I--" He scratched his head. "Help me get rid of her." His eyes widened in shock. "You're going to kill her?! Come on, dude. I know our pack is known for--" "No! I'm not going to kill her. She just can't stay here." He nodded. "So what do you want me to do?" "Act like everything is normal. We leave tonight after Troy's party. Inform the pack that I will be gone for a couple of days. I'm going to take her to the edge of the territory during the party, to my Grandparents' old guest cabin. She will be fine there until it's time to leave. Everyone will be good and drunk, so there shouldn't be any problems. You will leave the party and watch over her after I give you the signal." "Got it." "Good." I motioned for him to follow me. We left my office and headed to the elevator to get to the Alpha floor.
