Jess saw the papers. looks confused she look back between Dan and Bryce.
Umm.... What is this, Daniel? Jess asked. Take a look at its Bryce said
She took the papers it seems like it's a contract.
Why does it look like it's a contract? She asked him
Go ahead and read those Daniel said. Jessica nodded her head and started reading them ...
She was stuck when she read a particular line, she lookup at Daniel who is now looking at her with love, and guilt.
She completely read them. She released a breath. She was looking back in floors about what she should do.
What is this, Daniel? What nonsense is all this? Jess asked Dan
Jess, please calm down. I will explain. See I have a few problems going on for that I need to marry. Well, I never believe in Marriage because at the end of the day not everyone is same. So, Bryce came up wit this contract marriage idea.
The rules are pretty simple:
Rule Number 1 we are getting married in front of friends and some other people. So, we should not cheat on each other.
Rule number 2. We both should always maintain distance when we are alone. In public we have to act like a couple.
Rule number 3 After contract ends, we both should part ways.
And after that we shouldn't be in touch if it's anything important then we can talk on my private number.
Also, I will take care of your mom's treatment. Even if the contract ends. Dan said
When Dan completed Jess eyes are on tears.
What Dan? Are you paying me to be your wife? She asked
When Jess Asked this Dan frozen at the place
Since when did you became like this Dan? I thought you are gentle man but you proved me wrong. There is no difference between you and the bastard that came to my home yesterday. Jess said
When Dan heard this, He got angry.
Enough Jessica, this is your limit he said on high pitched voice
Wow my limit huh? Whose limit? Daniel this is not about you it's about me as well. And I can't believe you will do such a thing like this. Jess said
Jessica for this marriage I am giving you money so you should be grateful Dan said
Shut up Dan who need your Money? You know I am not a person who will run after money. I am giving importance to feelings not your stupid money. At the end of the day no money will ever bring back the happiness and time you lost.
Secondly, I am not a gold digger who runs after money and spoil the person happiness. Mind that and no way I am agreeing to this.
Oh, so how are you going to manage Charlie? Dan asked
That is none of your business Mr. Daniel Cooper. I will kill him even if I have to. And I will never allow him to touch me. You clearly know that. Jess said
So, you are not agreeing to this? Dan asked
Never, she removed the ring that he put on her finger last night.
She fiercely places the ring on the table. There you go your ring. I don't need it anymore. Thanks for saving me last night.
With that being said she the place furiously. She closed the door behind her.
She left the office thinking how bad the world.
She got into her car and drove off to her favorite place Park.
After a while she arrived her favorite spot.
She sat on a bench where she and Max used to Hangout. She sat there for a while her memories are flooding with memories. She feels empty lonely. She wanted to cry out loud but she can't.
She placed her hands in hair in frustration. Suddenly she felt someone have touched her shoulder. She lifts her face and turn to find a Man who is wearing crisp suit. The face that she just saw few minutes ago. It was Daniel. Her eyes met his Eyes. Her back eyes went into his brown eyes. She can see pain in the eyes she can the feel loneliness in his eyes. She got up facing him.
What are you doing here? She asked
I came here to Apologize Daniel said with guilt on his eyes.
What you said and you did is finish Dan your sorry can't change a fact Jess replied.
I know that but I am really sorry because I have no other option left than this. Every woman I meet only love me for my money. So, I can't trust anyone of them Daniel said in sad tone
Not everyone is same. Jess replied.
They both stood there in silent for few minutes. Suddenly group of men came near to them. Jess turned around to see but within a blink of second.
Someone took a gun and Aim Jessica. She was shocked to see she closed her eyes in fear.
She then a heard a gun sound

She opened her eyes to see Daniel standing in front of her and took the bullet for her. She gasped.
The bullet went on hisarm.
Daniel fell down on the ground. She closed her mouth in shock.
Tears started falling down on her face. She slumped on the floor near Dan. She touched his face tears on her face.
Da. Daniel? She called out him
His vision is blurry. But he can see and feel her presence around her.
Daniel, can you hear me open your eyes Daniel she started shouting.
She placed her hands on the wound she looks up at him
What have you done Daniel? She asked crying
Shh... don't cry Jess. If Max was here, he would do that. Don't worry about me I will be okay. I don't want you to cry. Daniel said struggling to speak.
I am calling the ambulance now Jess said nervously. She called the ambulance.
Daniel look don't close your eyes. Hold them. Hold my hands please Daniel. she begged him to not to close his eyes.
He took her hands and gave an assurance to her.
Your mother will be okay Jess. You don't need to worry about Charlie. He will be soon gone. You can live your life happily again. Dan said
Shut up Daniel this is not a time to talk. Look my eyes. Don't close your eyes. Please .... She said crying.
Within minutes the ambulance arrived. He was taken to the hospital.
Doctor... doctor... Please save him Jess said crying
We will try our level best ma'am the doctor said and he was taken to the operation theatre.
She sat there in a chair crying. Bryce came to the hospital.
He saw her crying, he felt sad for her. He went up to her.
Jessica? He called her. She got up and see Bryce.
Bryce he was. at. the park... suddenly she stumbled crying thinking about Daniel
Shh... relax Jess he is going to be okay. He tried to console her even though he is broken inside
This is all because of me. I shouldn't have left the office in the first place. If I was there, he wouldn't be here she said crying.
He.... Took. took a bullet for me Bryce .... That bullet is for me ... why in the world he has to come? why did he do this she said crying
Because he loved you Jess. He still loves you Bryce said unable to hide the truth from her.
When Jess heard this, she was shocked. What are you saying Bryce? she asked her
Yes, Jessica, he loved you since from high school when he got to know that you are max are in relationship. He didn't confess his love. He didn't want to lose you as a friend.
He always loved you. The reason why he chose you as his wife is this Jess. He always trusted you. He sees his mother inside you Jessica. He still loves you. He never even saw a girl the way he saw you.
He always wants you be happy. The reason why he wants to pay for your mom's surgery is he wants you be happy. He doesn't want to lose your mom. Because he knows the pain of losing parents.
No this is all lie, it's a lie she said
This is the truth it is the reality Bryce said
She doesn't know what to do she plopped on the floor in shock.
She sat there thinking the times that she spent with Max and Daniel.
Even though he hasn't seen you in 3 to 4 years but he always asks about you via Max. Bryce said
Does Max know that Dan loved me? She asked Bryce
Yeah... he knows it but he didn't ask anything about this to Daniel. Bryce said
Jess was completely devastated she felt sorry for how she treated him earlier.
She was there for an hour silently trying to process things.
That's when doctor came
Doctor what happened how is he? Is he okay ? Jess asked him .
Calm down Miss Jessica .
I am sorry we tried our best but unfortunately we can't save him. The doctor said to Jess
When Jess heard that she felt like a thunderstorm has just passed on her
Noooo it can't be true she yelled
What??? There is No way that Daniel is dead or is he? Find out in the next chapter
