The God of Beast

Unhalena pov The sky is crystal blue, the snow that falls shines like stars, and when the sun beams down upon my homeland it's like walking in cold glitter than snow. I stand on the patio just outside my room admiring the scenery. It's something I do every morning at the Northern Frost Kingdom. We are a kingdom of Snow Griffins, but my family and I are royal Snow Griffins. Even though all snow griffins are white the royal family like mines are White with streaks and tints of rainbow colors like you would in a prism, and our eyes the color of the aurora borealis. Once we have our first shift at 16, we are given the mark of our beast by the Moon Goddess that you can only see on a full moon. I received my mark when I was able to shift at 13. I was so happy the reason being I'm half human and half elf. when you are half-blood it either takes longer to have your first shift or you just don't have the ability to shift. My mother Delphine is human hint she can't not shift but the moon goddess blessed my mother with the ability to soothe any soul, also to inspire, and motivate anyone with her voice which I inherited. My dad Midnight is the full elf and ruler of the Northern Frost Kingdom. I our kingdom we don't go by Alpha and Luna like some of these wolf packs do for we are not wolves we go by emperor and empress. I am the only child and because of that I work twice as hard to be the future ruler I can be. My mom teaches me the ways of etiquette, knowing and helping the people, and practice my singing. My dad teaches me elite combat skills for a ruler must strong to not only protect their people but to protect themselves. He taught me sword fighting, hand to hand fighting human and Griffin form, and my favorite archery. He taught me the rules of all kingdoms, even other species tribes or packs for we would have to do business and make trades, or they might want to attack so we learn about our friends and enemies. I started lessons about being a ruler after I had my first shift. Today is my 18th birthday and tonight I will be the crown princess and my father's successor even though I already am it's just tradition which I feel is stupid but hey there's a big party afterwards and it gives me a reason to doll up. While being consumed with my own thoughts, the lady in waiting Gladys knocks on my door which brought me out of my train of thought. "Come in" I yelled. "Princess, it's time to get ready for breakfast and to start the day" she said as she closes the door behind her. Once she saw me outside, she almost had a heart attack. "Princess! You shouldn't be outside with barely anything on but a night gown what you catch a cold or worse someone sees you" she says in a frantic tone. "Gladys I'm fine and besides who's going to see me all the way up here?" I asked sarcastically She just shakes her head at me and rushes me to get ready to meet my parents for breakfast. She put me in an ice blue corset with sheer floral embroidery at the top of the dress and sheer and flowy at the bottom with floral nude wedges. Which compliments my brown skin. She curled my snow hair to have it fall loosely, natural makeup looks and a headband tiara to top off the look. "Beautiful, some of my best work" she brags as she is patting herself on the back. I just hugged her in agreement and headed to the dining area to eat with my parents. "Good morning mom and dad" I greeted as I sat down with a plate of food "Good morning my daughter, how did you sleep?" Emperor Midnight asked "Fine dad, hey are we still having combat training later this evening?" I asked "Of course, you can never rest when becoming stronger" my dad replied with such conviction. "Sweetie, we have to visit the town to do some volunteer work at the hospital today" Empress Delphine reminded me "Yes, mom I know" I sighed but happy to help wherever I can. After breakfast Mom and I went to the Hospital to volunteer our services. My mom used to be a doctor before meeting dad, so she taught me how to care for and treat the sick and wounded. To be honest I feel like a well-rounded future ruler, but I still have much to learn. After training with mom, I met up with my best friend and one of our top warriors Shea. “Shea! Where are you?” I yelled “In the kitchen!” she responded “Oh wow, what are you cooking? For it smells good in here” “Your favorite White bean chicken chili” “Yummy, but wait you only make this when you have something to tell me. So, let me have it, is it good or bad?” “It’s really good, I’m going to be the new captain for the royal family guards” I gasped and ran to hug and jump up and down with Shea. Yes! I’m happier than a griffin in a candy store for her. “Congratulations, bestie you deserve it” I said excitedly After eating that delicious meal shea made for me, I decided to turn in early because I was tired from working with my mom. An hour goes by, and I hear all this loud commotion outside my bedroom door. When I got up and put a robe on, I stepped to see bodies everywhere and I was in horror. I looked outside the window in the hall and saw how my people were dying left and right, houses being burned down, hearing the screams of everyone was so overwhelming. I had to find my parents and so I ran all over the castle looking for my mom and dad. When I approached the throne room, I saw my mother and father dead on their thrones. My legs collapsed from under me, and I fell to the floor crying my heart out when Shea came behind. “Princess, I’m so glad I found you. We need to leave now!” she demanded but I was in such a state of shock I couldn’t move. So, she didn’t have time for me to get it together, Shea just threw me over shoulder and ran out of the castle using the secret passageways to escape without being notice. When I came to my senses, I looked up to see a pile woman with red eyes sinking my kingdom to the ground as we disappeared into the night.
