Sienna spent the rest of the Saturday lounging around the house. Her mom was at work and her siblings were out with friends. Around dinner time, Brody showed up and began rummaging through the kitchen.
“What’s up, sis?” Brody asked coming into the living room with a very large sandwich and a whole bag of barbeque chips.
“I’m watching TV. Could you have made a bigger sandwich?” Sienna inquired incredulously.
“Uhm, probably.” He replied eyeing his sandwich. “What did you do today?”
“I went to the mall, came home and now this. What did you do today?” Sienna replied flipping through the channels.
“I was at the bike park for a few hours. I tried to talk Lyla into getting us alcohol.” Brody said. “You know who else I heard was at the mall today? Jaden.”
Sienna couldn’t meet his eyes. She could feel his judging eyes on her.
“What do you want me to say? He asked, I went. Nothing happened.” Sienna defended herself. Overprotective little brothers were a pain in the tush.
“I just do not want you to get here hurt. And you will get hurt with him.” Brody said running his hands through his hair looking frustrated. Sienna rolled her eyes.
“Brody, sometimes you have to take a risk. It is not like guys are jumping out of the woodwork to talk to me. And remember, I’m the big sister, I’m supposed to be looking out for you” Sienna said, trying to explain the hope just talking to Jaden gave her.
“Do whatever you want to do, Sienna. Just don’t come crying to me when he is done with you.” Brody said as he threw his trash away.
“So sweet of you to let me make my own decisions.” Sienna quipped.
Brody rolled his eyes. “Alright, I’m clearly not getting anywhere. I will see you later. Troy was trying to get his older brother to get us some booze since I struck out with Lyla.”
“Bike responsibly and make sure you tell mom where you are.” Sienna advised, shaking her head. He was ridiculous. He loved to make stupid decisions, but judge her on even considering a questionable decision.

Sienna’s mom arrived home around midnight, looking exhausted. Sienna was in the middle of a Friends marathon and totally lost track of time.
“You’re still awake?” Her mom asked looking at her watch.
“Uh-huh. Friends marathon, you know I can’t resist.” Sienna said, taking a bite of popcorn and nodding towards the TV.
“Where’s your brother?” Her mom asked taking her shoes off.
“He said he was going to Troy’s around 8. I haven’t seen him or heard from him since.”
“That is where he told me he was staying as well.” Mom said before yawning. “I better go to bed. I work 7-3 tomorrow. Love you.”
“Alright night. Love you.” Sienna said waving goodnight. Their family were not big huggers, which suited Sienna perfectly. Her mom mumbled night as she headed up the stairs.
Ding!
Sienna jumped, not expecting a message this late. Before she even looked she already knew who it was from.
Jaden: Hey you.
Sienna: Hey.
Jaden: What are you up to?
Sienna: I’m just watching TV. What about you?
Jaden: I snuck onto the computer after my parents went to bed. They still have my phone.
Sienna: Oh, that sucks. How much longer are you grounded? And how were you able to come to the mall?
Jaden: I told my mom I was going stir crazy stuck in the house. She said I could go walk around the mall for a few hours. And I bet at least another week, if I don’t mess it up.
Sienna: Oh, well you probably should not mess it up.
Jaden: I feel like I have a pretty good reason not to mess up.
Sienna: What is that?
Jaden: There’s this gorgeous girl with bright blue eyes I want to see.
Sienna felt lucky this conversation was not happening face to face as she was blushing once again. Sienna was unsure how to reply.
Sienna: Do I know her?
Jaden: I would hope so, but how well can one really know one’s self?
Sienna: Are you getting philosophical on me?
Jaden: I guess. You know I could just sneak over to your house right now to see you.
Sienna: I don’t think that is a very smart idea.
Jaden: Do you not want to see me?
Sienna: I didn’t say that. Just, if you sneak out again, you could get caught, then you’d be grounded for even longer.
Jaden: So, you do want to see me!
Sienna: I didn’t say that either.
Jaden: Who knew you could be such a flirt!
Sienna: On that note, I’m going to bed. Try to stay in your house.
Jaden: You are no fun.
Sienna: Goodnight Jaden.
Jaden: Sweet dreams Sienna.
Sienna laid in bed not knowing what she was getting herself into, but she was pretty sure she was starting to like Jaden. Embarrassed by her own thoughts, she threw herself on her bed and climbed under the covers.
