The following week Jaden met Sienna at the table along the edge of the cafeteria to have lunch with her every day. The two of them discussed their families. Jaden had two sisters, his family moved from California when he was ten. He missed picking fresh strawberries off the bushes in their backyard. Jaden told her his parents transferred him schools to get him away from a rough crowd at a nearby school. His ex-girlfriend went to his old school, her name was Ashley, and she was the same age as him. That is all he would say about her, but Sienna did not push him. Whatever he wanted to tell her was enough for her.
Jaden talked with his parents and they concluded, he would be ungrounded on Friday as long as he did not put a toe out of line. He would stay ungrounded as long as he followed the rules, and there would be no warnings. Sienna and Jaden planned to have a movie night in at Sienna’s house. As Friday got closer, Sienna became more and more anxious. She was not sure what Friday would bring. Jaden told Brody he would be there to hang out with Sienna and not with him.
“So what kind of snacks are you thinking?” Jaden asked Friday at lunch.
“I figured I would go the grocery store after school and get chocolates, gummy bears, skittles, and… what?” Sienna cut off as Jaden was staring at her with his mouth open. “I like candy, don’t judge me.”
“I like candy too.” Jaden replied grinning. “Bottlecaps are my favorite.”
“Then bottlecaps you will get.” Sienna grinned back. “What should we watch?”
“Who said we are actually going to watch the movie?” Jaden winked causing Sienna to flush. “I’m kidding, we can watch whatever you want.”
“Well for that comment probably something PG.” She said amused by how fast he backtracked to appease her.
He grinned at her. “What time should I come over?”
“After dinner?”
“You are going to make me wait that long to see you again?” He replied incredulously.
“Well I am not making you dinner!” Sienna quipped. She was not sure if she had the confidence to cook for someone new. She usually only cooked for family.
The sound of the bell signaling the end of lunch rang through the cafeteria.
“I guess I’ll see you later.” Sienna said gathering her things and putting them back into her backpack.
“Bye Sienna.” Jaden winked and waved.

Sienna could barely eat anything for dinner, she was far too nervous. She had never been on a date like this before. It would just be Jaden and her in the living room sitting in the dark, possibly close together. Her mom was working until 11 P.M. Brody was irritated at Sienna for making a stupid decision in his mind and decided to stay out of it entirely. This was fine with Sienna, she did not want her little brother involved in the start of their potential relationship anyways.
A knock came from the front door, hopefully Jaden was here. Or maybe Sienna was not sure if she was ready for him to be here. She tried to get her frizz under control before she opened the door. Jaden’s 100-watt smile greeted her as she opened the door. His style was infallible, but yet so simple. His black tee and dark blue jeans worked perfectly with his light complexion. Jaden’s curly black hair sat around his face with no effort on his part, and his brown eyes sparkled with excitement. Sienna had stayed simple as well in jeans, and a v-neck light pink shirt. She was wearing her favorite perfume, Ralph Lauren Blue.
“Hey you!” Jaden said, pulling a single red rose from behind his back.
“Aw, you did not have to do this.” Sienna gushed. Although she was not a flower person per se, she loved the thoughtfulness of a single red rose. “Well come in.”
Jaden stepped in closing the door behind him. Sienna took off to find a vase for the rose.
“Just pick your seat on the couch, I’ll be right there. Do you want a Dr. Pepper or a Pepsi?” she asked from the kitchen.
“You can surprise me,” he replied. “What movie did you decide on?”
“It’s called Date Night featuring Steve Carrell and Tina Fey. Seemed like the appropriate pick,” she said sauntering back into the living room handing him a Dr. Pepper. She took a seat a little way down the couch from him. “Did you see the snacks?”
Sienna had arranged the various snacks on the coffee table in front of them. Jaden would have been blind if he had not seen them. She had gotten quite a few options including: popcorn, Bottlecaps, assorted mini candy bars, Gummy bears, Skittles and Starburst.
“Wow, you really like candy.”
“How do you think I got so sweet?” she asked mockingly, grabbing the remote off the table.
Jaden grabbed the box of Bottlecaps and then scooted to sit right next to her. Sienna gulped. Tonight, was going to be interesting.
“I forgot the lights,” she said getting up quickly to go turn them down. Once she had dimmed the lights, she grabbed a blanket off the back of the loveseat and returned to her seat next to Jaden. She tried to create a little distance between the two of them, but he closed it quickly.
“Are you scared of being next to me?” he asked, his eyes twinkling dangerously.
“No, okay maybe a little. I just want to take it slow.” She said slowly feeling embarrassed. Her insides were fluttering with butterflies. She did not want to scare him away all because she was shy.
“You are way too cute when you blush.” Jaden replied, grinning at her.
“On that note, let’s start the movie.” Sienna said, pressing play on the remote.
