Date Night was actually a pretty funny movie. Tina Fey and Steve Carrell were a great duo. About halfway through the movie, Jaden reached over and grabbed Sienna’s hand. Her butterflies returned. She peered up at him from behind her lashes and he flashed her a grinned. She hurriedly looked back to the movie, slightly embarrassed she had been caught.
The tension relaxed a little, the two of them becoming more comfortable with her fingers being intertwined with his fingers. Jaden started lightly running his thumb along the inside of her palm, giving her goosebumps. She was pretty sure he did not realize the effect it was having on her. It was the lightest of touches, but felt so relaxing at the same time.
Sienna leaned up to grab a package of gummy bears. Jaden took this opportunity to throw his arm over the back of the couch where she was sitting. His arm wrapped around her when she sat back. Little shocks of electricity ran through the contact of their body parts. Sienna jumped a little at the unexpected touch. Jaden chucked at her response.
Maybe when they touched he did not feel what she did, she wondered to herself. She felt quite vulnerable putting herself out there for the first time since she moved. Before she moved, she was in a slightly serious relationship with a guy. Once he found out she was moving, he broke up with her. It was as if anymore time with her would have been a waste. The two of them were only 15 at the time, but she had really liked him and he completely ignored her after the break up. She thought if nothing else they would remain friends, but she was wrong.
“What are you thinking about?” Jaden asked ripping her out of her thoughts.
“What? Nothing.” Sienna replied, shaking her head to clear her thoughts.
“Really? Well I think if you chew your lip anymore it is going to start bleeding.” He said, gently pulling her lip free from her teeth. His thumb grazed her bottom lip, sending quivers through her. She glanced up at him and he was staring at her lips.
Sienna got nervous and pulled away to look back to the movie. There was only about five minutes left in the movie. As it ended, Sienna turned towards Jaden.
“What do you want to do now?” Jaden asked.
“What time do you have to be home?” Answering his question with a question.
“I have a couple more hours.” He said glancing towards the clock.
“Want to go for a walk?” Sienna suggested.
“Absolutely. I love the outdoors.” Jaden replied jumping up.
Sienna put the family dog, Daisy on a leash and got her sneakers on. “You ready?”
Jaden opened the door for her in response. The two of them walked down the front stairs, Jaden grabbing her hand to walk together. They walked in silence for a bit, enjoying the fresh air, and the night sky.
“Why do you get such a bad boy reputation?” Sienna finally asked, she had been wondering for a while. He was such a gentleman to her.
“Why does a tiger have stripes or a leopard have spots?” He replied, shrugging his shoulders.
“You get a say in how you behave, you are always so nice to me. How can even Brody warn me off you?” Sienna questioned. Jaden quirked an eyebrow.
“I guess sometimes I see the two options and I knowingly pick the wrong one. It is usually more fun and I dislike people having high expectations of me.” Jaden said, looking up at the stars.
Sienna was taken aback. She had always wanted people to think highly of her and meet or exceed those expectations. “You are pretty much the exact opposite of me in that department.”
“Well people say opposites attract.” He said, winking at her and giving her hand a squeeze. “Why do you feel like you have to be good all the time?”
“I would like to think I’m innately good. Also, I hate getting in trouble.”
“Trouble can be fun you know.” Now he was grinning wickedly.
“I do not mind trouble as long as we do not get caught.” She winked back, catching him by surprise.
“Well then, let’s get wild!” Jaden said, grabbing her by the waist.
Sienna squealed and pulled away uncomfortably. “Not so fast cowboy. I’m not really one of those girls.”
“Who said I was one of those guys?”
“Everything about you says you are one of those guys.” She said as they arrived back at her townhouse. Jaden had another hour so he followed her in. Sienna filled her water cup and sat down next to Jaden on the couch.
“So, you already know what kind of guy I am.” Jaden questioned, he had wrapped an arm back around her.
“I would not say that. I think you push out an image of yourself you want people to see.” Sienna replied.
“I don’t really care what people like my parents or teachers think of me. If I want to do something I probably will.”
“Do you care what I think of you?” Sienna asked vulnerably.
“I’m here, aren’t I?” Jaden replied.
“Not a real answer.” Sienna said shaking her head, wavy brown hair falling around her face. “I have softball tomorrow, you should probably go.”
“I could stay.” He replied, as per usual pushing the limits.
“Not with me, you could not.” She said, standing up to walk towards the door. Jaden followed. Sienna was wringing her hands nervously. She opened the door for him to go. He turned towards her.
“I really do care what you think. Probably more than I should.” He said, lifting her chin. He leaned in, and their lips touched for the first time. The kiss was light, but sent shivers down Sienna’s spine.
“Goodnight Sienna.” He whispered against her lips, then he walked out the door.
“Night,” she said, quietly shutting the door once he was out of sight.
