Chapter Forty-Eight – KateTuesday 5 January 2015. 9.30pm He's left me in this s**t hole for days now. I've been slipping in and out of consciousness. The last thing I remember was standing, trying to find a way out in the dark. I must have collapsed. When I woke, it was light; sun shone through the aging bullet type holes in the brickwork and roof, illuminating my squalor. I'm not sure what time it was but I'm guessing it was mid-morning. The second time I opened my eyes the sun had disappeared; the temperature had dropped, and I felt cold again. Now, I'm lying here in the pitch black again, fully conscious. I'm trying to swaddle under the flimsy blanket to retain heat. It's not big enough to cover my entire body. I remain worried that I'll catch hypothermia. If that sets in, then my b
