I held her closer to my chest. Her heartbeat was so faint. So slow that I could barely hear the thump every minute. Her skin was growing paler and cold by the minute. What if we did CPR? What if we....no, that wouldn't work. Not for this. The toxins were already spreading and that would only make the damage worse.
I just wanted her to open her eyes. I wanted her to wake up and tell me it was okay.
