"Of course, you'll move in with me. The living conditions here are not as comfortable as mine," he insisted after she asked if he was serious about her moving in with him.
"Move in with you?" Fish Yi couldn't believe her ears. It was like Little Red Riding Hood meeting the Big Bad Wolf.
"Yes, the environment here is so poor," he said, genuinely concerned about her well-being.
"Can't I just stay here?" Fish Yi suggested, reluctant to give up her chance to work and earn money. After all, wasn't her dream to become a wealthy woman? How could she achieve that if she didn't work?
"Why not? Don't you care about this place?" Charlie noticed her hesitation and wondered why she was attached to this place when his home was obviously superior.
"Of course not, but is it really necessary?" she tried again, hoping to avoid the situation altogether.
"Yes, it's necessary. Since you're my sister now, you should live with me so I can take care of you," he insisted firmly.
"Can't I just stay?" Fish Yi asked again, feeling conflicted. On one hand, she was eager to have a good brother like Charlie, but on the other hand, she didn't want to give up her independence.
"No," was Charlie's simple response.
"Fine," Fish Yi conceded, realizing that living with Charlie might not be so bad after all. Besides, she was running out of money and didn't have many other options.
And so, Fish Yi moved in with Charlie. She was amazed by the luxury and size of his house. She couldn't believe her luck - meeting a wealthy man who was willing to take care of her for free. She couldn't help but wonder if Charlie's eccentricity was related to his wealth. Perhaps he just wanted someone to spend his money on.
As the months passed, Fish Yi grew closer to Charlie. He provided her with a generous allowance each month, and sometimes even bought her clothes and jewelry. They attended parties together, with Fish Yi often serving as Charlie's dance partner. Charlie would often express his desire to find a girlfriend like Fish Yi - a petite, exotic woman from the East.
Despite her comfortable life with Charlie, Fish Yi couldn't shake the feeling of longing for her parents. She wrote letters to her friend regularly, asking her to pass them on to her parents. Eventually, Fish Yi decided it was time to return home, but she couldn't bear to leave Charlie. She secretly planned her departure, hoping that fate would bring them together again someday.
