Chapter Four: Persistent Foreigner(1)

605 Words
"You don't need to get worked up," the foreigner said, reaching out to help Yu Yi stand. "Don't touch me. I don't need your help," she snapped back. She didn't want assistance from someone who thought she was a beggar. "I like helping people," the foreigner said earnestly. "I don't need your help," Yu Yi insisted, feeling increasingly annoyed by his persistence. "Are you filming a movie dressed like that?" the foreigner continued, ignoring Yu Yi's frustration. Despite her current attire, he could see the beauty in her delicate features. "Are you a monk or something? Why are you so talkative?" Yu Yi couldn't take it anymore. "Monk? I don't know what that is," the foreigner replied with a curious expression. "Are you dense?" Yu Yi couldn't believe his lack of understanding. "I just want to help you," the foreigner persisted. "I said leave me alone. If you touch me, I'll call the police." Yu Yi couldn't understand why this person was so persistent. Was he some kind of fly that couldn't be swatted away? And what was the emergency number here? 110? "Call the police? Was your fall intentional? Who caused it? I'll help you report it and make sure you get compensated," the foreigner insisted, displaying an extraordinary level of concern. Yu Yi couldn't believe how he managed to misunderstand her intention to call the police. This foreigner was truly something else. "Are you an i***t?" Yu Yi blurted out in frustration. She wanted to call the police because he was harassing her, but he seemed to interpret it differently. This foreigner's comprehension skills were seriously lacking. "i***t? I've never been called that," the foreigner replied, puzzled by Yu Yi's sudden mention of food. Nevertheless, he patiently explained. A flock of crows flew overhead! "Please, stop talking. I think I'm going to die from the pain," Yu Yi groaned, the intermittent pain in her bare feet making it hard to argue. She reluctantly gave in, conceding that he had indeed helped her. "I'll take you to see a doctor." "I said no need," Yu Yi protested. Did he think they were close friends or something? "You can't walk, can you? Let me carry you." ... Another flock of crows flew overhead. He was like an unkillable cockroach, and the pain in her bare feet left Yu Yi unable to refute him any longer. Finally, she relented, acknowledging his successful assistance. "Goodbye," she said once her feet were bandaged. Why was this annoying guy still hanging around? Was he waiting for her to invite him for a meal? No way was she going to treat him. She could barely afford to feed herself, let alone him. She needed to get rid of him fast. "Hey, at least I'm your savior. Mind telling me your name?" he asked hastily as she prepared to leave. Hmm, were all foreign men like this? Asking for someone's name out of the blue, as if they were acquainted? Yu Yi reluctantly gave her name, "Yu Yi." Eastern names were not only diverse but also strange. Were there really people with the surname Yu? There must be. He then introduced himself, "I'm Nado, Charlie. You can call me Charlie." "Oh, never mind then. I'll be on my way," Yu Yi said, eager to leave. She didn't want him to expect her to treat him to a meal. "Little Fish, where do you live?" Charlie wasn't ready to let her go. He was intrigued by the Eastern woman before him, particularly her attire. Since she neither admitted to acting nor being a beggar, she must need even more of his help.
