The letter trembled in Daphne's hand. The words blurred together, but she couldn't escape them. Emmason knew. She felt a wave of shame, regret, and fear. Fear of losing him, losing the kids, losing herself. Daphne dropped the letter, her legs giving out. She slid to the floor, tears streaming down her face. Marion found her there, sobbing. "Daphne, what's wrong?" Daphne couldn't speak. She handed Marion the letter. Marion's face was a mix of shock and anger. "Oh, Daphne...what did you do?" The kids were asking questions, looking worried. Daphne tried to compose herself. "It's okay, kids. Daddy and I...we need to talk." Emmason walked in, his face a mask. "I'll talk to them." Daphne nodded, feeling like she'd lost everything. As the kids went with Emmason, Daphne felt a numbness creep in. What had she done? The letter trembled in Daphne's hand as she read the words. Her eyes filled with tears, a mix of guilt and regret washing over her. She remembered the night, the look on Emmason's face when he walked in on her and Alex...it wasn't what it seemed. But she'd lied, and now... Daphne dropped to the couch, the letter clheld in her hand. Marion was there, kids playing in the background. "Daphne, what's wrong?" Daphne's voice cracked. "Emmason...he knows. About Alex." Marion's expression turned serious. "What did you do, Daphne?" Daphne's tears fell. "I messed up, Marion. I messed up bad." The kids looked up, sensing the tension. "Mama?" Daphne forced a smile. "It's okay, babies. Mama's fine." But it wasn't fine. Emmason was gone. And Daphne was left to pick up the pieces. The letter trembled in Daphne's hand, the words blurring together. She felt a wave of shame, regret, and fear. She'd never meant for it to go this far. She read it again, tears pronging her eyes. Emmason was right – she'd hurt him. Badly. Daphne dropped to the couch, the letter falling to the floor. She'd lost him. Maybe she'd lost herself. The kids were with Marion, oblivious to the wreckage. Daphne's phone buzzed – a message from Alex. "Daphne, I'm here." She deleted it, feeling numb. What had she done? The door opened – Emmason walked in, his face a mask. "We need to talk." Daphne's heart pounded. "I'm sorry, Emmason." Emmason's eyes were cold. "Sorry? You think sorry's enough?" The hours ticked by in a haze. Daphne couldn't shake the feeling of Emmason's disappointment. She'd hurt him, hurt them. Marion was trying to help, keeping the kids occupied. Emmason came back, his expression unreadable. "We need to talk." Daphne nodded, her heart pounding. They sat down, the silence thick. Emmason's voice was low. "I want the kids to stay with me. I'll move back to Uganda." Daphne's heart sank. "What about...us?" Emmason's eyes were guarded. "I don't know. I need time." The words cut deep. Daphne felt like she'd lost him. The days that followed were a blur of sadness and regret. Daphne barely slept, barely ate. The kids were confused, asking for her. Emmason was firm. "Daphne needs space, kids." Daphne felt like she was losing everything. Emmason's words cut deep. Daphne felt tears prong her eyes. "I know it's not enough," she whispered. Emmason's expression didn't change. "The kids...they don't understand. They think we're okay." Daphne's voice cracked. "What do we tell them?" Emmason's eyes hardened. "We tell them the truth. That Mama made a mistake." Daphne flowned. "A mistake? Emmason..." Emmason cut her off. "You cheated, Daphne. You broke trust." The room went quiet. Daphne's phone buzzed again – Alex. She deleted it, her hand shaking. Emmason saw. His jaw clheld. "You still talking to him?" Daphne shook her head. "No. I'm done." Emmason's expression didn't change. "We need to figure out...us." The word hung in the air, a fragile thread. Daphne's heart pounded as she looked at Emmason. "Figure out us?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. Emmason's eyes searched hers, a mix of pain and uncertainty. "I don't know if I can trust you again, Daphne." The words cut deep. Daphne felt tears prong her eyes. "I've lost you, haven't I?" she whispered. Emmason's expression softened, just a fraction. "I don't know. I need time." The silence stretched, thick and heavy. Daphne's phone buzzed, breaking the tension. She ignored it. Emmason stood up. "I'll stay with the kids tonight. You...you need to think." Daphne nodded, feeling numb. As Emmason left with the kids, she felt a void in her chest. What now? The silence stretched, heavy with unspoken words. Daphne's heart pounded in her chest as she waited for Emmason to speak. Finally, he broke the silence. "I want us to go to counseling. The kids need us to try." Daphne's eyes filled with tears. "I'll do anything." Emmason's expression softened, just a fraction. "I'll set it up." The kids burst into the room, laughing and playing. Natasha looked up at them. "Mama, Daddy, are you okay?" Daphne forced a smile. "We're fine, baby. Just...working some things out." Emmason put an arm around her. "We'll be okay, kids." The tension eased, a little. But Daphne knew – they were far from okay.
