Chapter Sixty-Six Chris gently eased the pick-up truck’s bonnet down, leaning on it to help close it properly. In his oily overalls, he went and sat behind the steering wheel, making sure he put down a towel beforehand. “Time to check you out.” He inserted the key, twisted it, and tried to start the engine. It whined a couple of times, before it turned over, smoke billowing out from the exhaust. “Got you.” He kept the engine running for five minutes, listening to her roll over, before he killed the motor.
