"Love is compromise"
Aaron really returned my love? I blink back tears. He holds me in his embrace. This was to good to be true. If it was a dream I did not want to wake up from it. I hold onto him. Not wanting this moment to end.
I had waited so long for this moment. So, long. I feel his hands in my hair as he holds me close to him. Aaron Winters loved me.
"Brenda?" he says softly.
"Yes?"
"I want to go steady. Date you. What do you say? Be my girl?" he asks me.
"I say hell yes" I laugh as I brush back happy tears with my right hand. Then he pulls me back to look at him. He is smiling.
"I just can't believe it took us this long" he chuckles.
"Me either" I say with a grin.
"But you understand why?" he asks me. I nod.
"I get it. You did not want to risk a chance that I did not feel the same way by ruining what we did have. I understand now. I felt the same way at times. That to was why I did not say a word. I wanted to. Remember that night we sat on the couch watching movies together when I babysat?" I ask him.
"I do. You got a phone call asking you to go out someplace that Friday. But you turned the guy down twice to be around me" he mentions with a grin. I nod.
"I was wishing that whole time it was a real date. I was thrilled you knew my favorite movie. Than we were sitting so close together. I wished then you had kissed me but you did not that night" I sigh.
"Trust me I wanted to kiss you that night" he says with a grin.

He leans in tenderly kissing me on the lips.
"I have wanted to do that forever" he replies after the kiss. He kisses me again.
"How silly we were" I tell him.
"We have so much time to catch up. I am glad I came home at the right time finding you here. At first it was harder than hell having you around here. It hurt like hell seeing you again" he says. "Old wounds came back to bother me"
"Same here" I agree. "That was why I stayed away for so long"
"I say we have our first official date tomorrow. Let me take you out" he asks me.
"I would love that Aaron" I say with a grin.
"I live far away. You live here. But I can move back here. Or you can move out with me. Whatever we decide to do in the future to come. We can talk all this out on the date" he says thoughtfully.
"It was not my move to stay here, I had to move back home" I remind him.
"I understand. I am sure glad you did come back at this time" he says happily.
"Me to" I giggle.
I hear a car in the driveway pull up. My parents were back home from their little date.
"Want to come over to my parents' place? We can talk in private there?" he asks me. I nod.

He offers his arm to me. Then leads the way over next door. I feel so proud to have him near my side. I still felt so dazed. It did not seem real. I have dreamt of this moment so many nights than woken to find it had never come true. Here it finally had come true.
At last. Aaron unlocks his parents home. We go inside. He makes us a pot of coffee. We take the coffee cups to the living room. He sits with me on the long couch. He takes a blanket then covers our laps with it. He pulls me in his embrace.
"The old Aaron would have never had the courage to do that" he teases me with a wink.
I smile shyly.
"I wish he had" I say softly. He smiles.
"Would you be willing to move where I live if it came down to that? I mean because of my business? I can always help you get a job out that way. Whatever you wanted" he says thoughtfully. "I hate the thought of having to go do business when we get together and leave you out here, I would like to have you with me"
"I would like that to" I agree. "Yes Aaron, that would be fine"
"Just move and start a new life?" he worries.
"I want to be with you. Yes", I say sternly. I touch his cheek with my hand.
"Well we should not have to worry about that yet. But to warn you I do have to fly out a bit. I can get busy at times. I wanted to explain that all to you" he sighs. "Right now, all I want to do is plan a perfect date for you"
"That I would like very much" I say happily.
"Where would you like to go?" he asks me.
"Surprise me. You plan it for us" I say to him. "Then I would like to meet at the end of the night and have a first morning with you. Wake up with you. Start a new day with you. So many new firsts for us"
"I would love that to Brenda" he agrees. He kisses me. "It will be hard to wait. But it will be worth it, you will be worth it. To have our perfect date. I always wondered what it was like to be on a date with Brenda Vance. So many guys in this town were dying to go on a date with you"
I giggle as I feel my cheeks blush with pleasure at his words.
"All I wanted was one boy to ask me out. He never had" I say.
"Until now" he answers as our eyes lock on each other.
He smiles. I smile.
"You have made me so damn happy right now" he whispers to me.
I lean in kissing him. Brave enough to kiss him. Touch him. Hold him. Embrace the moment we longed for.
"Finally, you are mine Brenda. I will never break your heart now that I have it" he promises me after the kiss was over. Then another kiss begins.
