"Love never gives up hope!"

It was a long damn day. I did not have time to connect with Brenda. We kept missing each other's calls. Either that or Brenda was pissed off at me and ignoring my calls. She might be doing that to. I did not blame her for being mad at me.

Just taking off like that when we had connected and had such a wonderful time with each other. I was sure feeling guilty as hell about it. As I wait for Kerrigan there at the coffee shop I call over at Brenda's parent's house hoping to reach her.

"Aaron, where are you? Brenda was looking for you before. She said you left town?" her mother answers my call.

"I do not have much time to explain. But yes, I had to for business. I will be back as soon as I can. Can you tell her that for me? I have a meeting coming up here. I need to go they will meet me any moment" I tell her mother.

"Sure Aaron, I will let her know. This will make her feel better. She was worried" says her mother.

"Promise her there is nothing to worry about. I will be back" I say one more time before we hang up. AS I hang up there was Kerrigan walking into the place. She walks over to me at my table. Smiling.

She sits across from me at the table. She places her coat on the back of her chair making herself at home. Then gets paper work out of her brief case.

"What is it that you want? Lay it out for me. I want this done and over with. Name your price" I demand to her sternly. I turn my phone on mute so I could conduct this meeting. I could not wait to be done. And to go home.

"It was never about the money Aaron. There is one thing I want" she says smiling at me as she folds her hands together. "I will give you what you want. If you give me what I want"

"What might that be?" I ask her.

"I want you. One more date. I have a gala coming up. And I need a host to go along with me. Make a generous donation in my name. Help my business. Then you get your paper work back. And the court date dropped" she promises me.

"Why do you need me to go?" I ask. I did not like this idea.

"Because you are one of the most wealthy bachelors' of America right now. I will even give you a check do make the donation to make myself look good. You see I have some troubles from a long time ago coming back up to haunt me. I need to redeem myself" she tells me. She shares article's about her past.

She had been dating some mayor in another state. He had been married. It leaked out. Ruined him. As well as ruined her name. She was working hard to make herself look good. But there was no way to make her look good. She was a rotten person.

"So basically, you are just using my name to keep the heat off you?" I ask her.

She nods.

"Right" she tells me. "I knew I can't sell these blue prints with your name or without you"

"But you knew you could black mail me so that I would help you?" I state angrily.

"Exactly" she says. "Why did you think I wanted to come work for you so badly?" she chuckles.

"I was a damn fool" I sigh.

"You did not see it coming sweets. But are you going to do this? One night. With me. Then you are free" she promises. "I will give you these blue prints back at the end of the night"

"Deal!" I agree as I make the deal with the devil. Then we shake on it.

After I head out of there as fast as I could. I was going to be here a little longer than I thought. I first try to call Brenda again.

No answer. Damn it. She did not call me back this time either. I hoped she talked to her mother. And that she got my message alright. I call Charlie.

"What did the she-devil want?" Charlie demands to know.

"She is trying to clear her name. Make herself look great. She says if I help her then she will drop the court date. And she will give us what we want" I sigh.

"Are you going to do it? Whatever she demanded?" asks Charlie.

"I told her I would. What if this all falls through? What if she is lying and makes me do more than what she claims?" I ask him.

"That is a risk you are just going to have to take" he tells me.

"I just want this over with. And I want to go home" I sigh.

"I know man. You will. If anyone can do this, you can" he promises me. We hang up. I head back to my condo.

I take a long hot shower. Get dressed in comfort clothing. Then grab a beer. Check my phone. No calls or text from Brenda. That was not a good sign. She had to be pissed at me. I would be to if she had just taken off to New York and not asked me to along with her.

I could see how this looked bad. I lay on my couch. Wondering what move I should make next. Someone knocks on my door. I was not expecting anyone to come here. I get up and answer it. There stands Brenda in the doorway. She pulls me in her embrace for a hug.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again Winters" she snaps at me. I laugh as I hold her close.

"How did you know where I was?" I ask her.

"You left your address book in your room. I went snooping. And mom helped me get a plane ticket out here. I had a feeling you might need me" she says with a smile. "What is going on by the way?"

I sit down with her on my couch. Her legs in my lap. We cuddle together as I tell her everything.

"Here is what is going to happen. She is not going to get away with this. I have an idea that will work for you" promises Brenda with a gleam in her eye.

"What is that?" I say. "I am all ears"

She kisses me.

"You are gonna love it" she tells me with a wink.
