Mia's P.O.V
After three days, when I regained consciousness, I was in hospital.
My eyes fluttered open with a massive headache. I could hear a strange beeping noise.
It took me a minute to fully open my eyes. As soon as they were completely opened, I was surrounded by people, more precisely a nurse and a doctor.
My gaze shifted back and forth as I tried to adjust to my new surroundings.
"Why am I here?"" I mutter, my throat as dry as a desert, devoid of any moisture. It felt like I had just arrived from a dry wind region.
"You're here because you had a minor head injury, sweetie; some armed burglars broke into your building."
"Ca, could you please get me some water?"" I inquired once more.
"Don't worry, you're safe." "It was only a minor head injury." The nurse said this while forcing a smile on her face. I find it odd that I'm asking for water and she's constantly scripting out words as if she memorized them.
"Is that my brother?"" I asked, hoping for the best.
"He was murdered by armed burglars." She asked, asked “He is dead?" I asked, again.
"Yeah, you'll be discharged soon. You can go back now." She replied nonchalantly.
What is happening? The nurse and the doctor go away and I break down. They dropped me at my home without asking me, as if they were obeying someone’s order.
I stood alone in the desolate room, surrounded by screeching walls. The entire scene reminded me of haunted memories, memories that I can recall with poignant clarity.
Should I call the police?
Who else can help me? But what if the police behave similarly to the hospital staff?
Can I trust them? Can I put my trust in anyone from this shady town?
Contemplating on my options, I suddenly thought of Albert. Was he aware? But it was impossible; he couldn’t leave me in that situation. I decided to call him. He's the only one I can trust. I've known him for all my life.
I dial his number. The call was picked up as soon as the first bell rang.
“Hello? Have…” I spit out but my words were cut short.
"Mam, this is Annat.” I heard a high-pitched sound on the other side of the phone. She was manager of Albert.
"Where is Albert?" I questioned, my heart racing due to the growing anxiety. My voice was breaking down in my throat.
“He is out of country. He will be here soon. If you ….” She was saying something when I hung up the phone sadly. I lost my last hope too. All of a sudden, I felt suffocated.
What if he comes again?
This thought stopped my heartbeat for a moment.
“No, I can’t stay here. I have to go from there.”
And then I came here. I rented a small apartment from my savings and started living there. This was a small town far away from the city. I had to work for a living because I didn’t have those luxuries of life anymore, so I started a job in a hotel. I was so afraid that I wouldn’t want to go back to this area. I just waited for Albert. I called him every day but he was still not back.
In the last days, I was very scared, but my compulsion was such that I did not even go back.
That day turned out to be the worst I had ever waited for. My brother was killed in front of my eyes. I can’t forget this. He wanted to humiliate me too, but I didn’t know why he left me. This was strange. He was a cruel man, he could have done anything to me if he wanted to, but he left me. This was a horrible incident of my life. Even so, every time I remembered him, my body started to warm up again. I explained to my heart that I could never accept this tyrant as my mate, I hated him. But I could not do anything about my body which was yearning for his touch, despite being aware of his cruelty.
Today, it had been one month since I started my job; I was standing at the hotel counter, wearing a white top on a black dress. I was busy with work at the counter when I saw a tall shadow passing in front. My heart panicked for a moment. I prayed it wasn’t him. But this was not the time for acceptance. He was coming with his tigers, but he quickly passed by and went into the elevator. He was seen two full months later. So I, who was standing still and silent, let out a long breath when he left. I was terribly frightened and quickly bent down to concentrate on my work when the counter rang. There was a ringing sound of fingers and he was standing in front of me.
“How are you, my doll?” He said with a deep smile. I was scared, so I did not say anything. My voice got stuck in my throat. He turned around and went inside the counter. Today he was dressed in a black suit.
“Why did you leave your house, little girl?” He reached out to take my hand.
He held my hand and kissed it gently. When his lips touched my body, I trembled. I felt the same burning sensation in my body. He was looking at me with deep blue eyes. Before I was lost in his eyes, I remembered the lifeless body of my brother. As soon as I remembered all this, I jerked my hand away from him and gave him a strong slap on his face. He stopped there, still. I saw the blood in his eyes and felt silence everywhere. He had a deadly look on his face. I was shocked. Where did I have this courage? He turned quickly and, without saying anything, he left.
“What did you do? Do you know who you have slapped?” My colleague shouted at me.
"You have gone mad," She scolded me and I was just shocked.
“He is a ruthless Alpha, he will not leave you, run away from here, he will not leave you alive.” My colleague tried to shake me to my senses.
I was just still. I looked at my hand. Where did I get such courage?
I was thinking, when I saw his tigers running towards me. I felt the danger creeping towards me. They grabbed me by the arms and pushed me outside. My body was getting cold at the thought of what was going to happen next. Darkness began to flutter in front of my eyes and I collapsed in their arms.
