6. Alpha Alex's POV

1830 Words
So, after training and meeting with everyone this week to go over the training and the warrior guard schedule, it's just Beta Benson and I in the office. "Alright bro, any last minute details before we head over to the Midnight pack tomorrow?" I know that we still need to finish packing but both of us are still trying to figure out what may have happened at the ball. We don't want to go and have something chaotic happen at the party tomorrow. We may all be in an alliance, but that may cause a rift that we don't need. "Honestly, I am just hoping that tomorrow is smooth sailing. I hope I find my mate, but at the same time, I don't know how much drama it will cause. And the last thing we need to do is cause a scene. And if you are right about the pain in my chest, then there is the possibility that she could be in a relationship and I don't know how I will be able to handle that." He is right, and I can't believe I forgot about the possibility of her being in a relationship. There really could be a fight tomorrow and that could be terrible. "Okay, well, if I have to use my Alpha command on you, just know that it is a last resort to try and keep the peace. But also know that I will be on your side and always have your best interest at heart." "I know, and if it comes to that, I know things have gotten out of control, so I will try and not hold that against you." I am glad we can agree on that because I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be draining. "Alright, well, we should head to bed. We have to leave here at 9am to get there by the luncheon with the leaders of the three packs before the party tomorrow night." Who knew that a Saturday could hold so much possibility. "Alright, I'll see you in the morning, and I hope I don't cause the pack too much drama tomorrow." "You never cause drama, and you have helped hold things down around here for me. So I owe you one anyway. Now go get some sleep and finish packing." With a slap on his back, we are both finally headed to our floors to get situated for the weekend. I keep trying to shake this feeling that something is up. "Hey Cal, why do you seem so on edge? Your anxiousness is transferring over to me and I don't know how to process it." "Sorry Brad, I am just nervous about tomorrow. I have a feeling that there is going to be a lot of information thrown at us, and I just hope everything turns out okay." "Well, I think it will all turn out okay, we just have to be able to rely on each other. Plus the Alpha and Luna at the Midnight pack are family. The Luna being related to our Beta family I know we will be okay. I know she will want to help Benson figure this out as much as we do. Plus she is Ben's Aunt, so we should be okay." "You're right I keep forgetting that fact. Well you finish packing and I am going to rest so I can be on alert all day tomorrow." And with that I can tell Cal has receded for the night, now to finish packing. Waking up, I can already tell I am not ready for today. I was pretty restless last night. I had this dream that I was chasing a pup around the pack house, and when I finally caught up to the pup all I could see was myself in the boy. The only difference was that he had bright blue eyes and deep black hair. Which is weird as I have blonde hair and hazel eyes. I have never met another wolf with blue eyes. So that is strange. Well maybe that was just my mind playing a trick since I am now rejected and I don't have the potential for pups anytime soon. As I get ready, I can't stop thinking about the pup. I keep getting pulled to how I felt such love and devotion. Which is crazy, because even when I was with Justice, we never talked about pups, and I never had the desire to have any. So why do I have this feeling like now I do want a family. Well I can't harp on this too long as Benson is knocking on my door. "He Lex, you ready? We need to leave in 5 minutes and I already have the cars and the warriors out front." There is a reason I have him as a Beta, but even more I am thankful for his friendship. "What has gotten into you, normally I am the one dragging you out of bed." He gives me the look like I should know. "Oh, let me guess, you are excited to see if you meet your mate." "Honestly Lex, I am just more anxious to get answers so maybe I can sleep rather just thinking of every possible scenario all day and night." And now I am sure that he hasn't been sleeping and I feel even worse that he has had to step in for me with all this on his mind. "Alpha, I know that look, don't feel guilty over something that you didn't know about, and something that you didn't see coming or have any control over." "I know but I just feel more like I failed you as a friend and an Alpha. As an Alpha I am supposed to help you with your mate if I can, and as your friend I am supposed to always be here for you no matter what." "Okay I get that, but let's just move forward and put this behind us. We can't harp on the past, and now I just want to get going so we can get this show on the road." "Alright then, let's head down and get going." With that we both head down. His family is all in one car, and my parents are waiting so they can say goodbye. Gamma Bastian and Delta Jake are leading our morning training, but my dad I am sure, will check in with them after. After we are on the road for about an hour I start to get an anxious feeling and I already know that it is from Cal pacing in my head. “Hey Cal, what's up? You are usually never this anxious.” “I don’t know Lex, I just have a feeling that something big is about to happen and I don’t know what it could be.” “Well, we are about an hour from the pack, maybe it is just nerves from not being in control of what is going to happen with Ben.” “You’re right that could be it, but for some reason I feel like it is going to bigger than that. So just stay on alert, and I will make sure I won't leave you alone.” I can tell that he is no longer in the front of my mind, but he still has some focus on what is going on. I get back to looking over pack business files. Being out for a week, there is somethings that I need to make sure to catch up on. Ben decided to ride with his family so I get to just focus on getting caught up on what I have missed. After another hour I get a mind link from my Beta. “Hey Lex, we are here. Should be pulling up to the main pack house in a second.” “Hey, thanks for giving me a heads up. I have been getting caught up on pack business and lost track of time.” I start packing my things away knowing the warriors will take everything to the designated rooms. “No problem, I figured you were, that is why I decided to let you know. See you in a minute.” With that the mind link ends, and I start to try and straighten out so that way I don’t look exhausted. When pulling up to the pack house Calvin is now at the forefront of my mind with me and he is pacing. “Hey buddy, what’s up? I need you to chill a bit. I can't think when you are like this.” “Sorry Alex, but I just have a weird feeling and I want to make sure that I am ready. Just don’t get too comfortable in case anything happens.” Maybe Bensons mate is here to welcome us too and this might just get crazy from the start. As the car parks, I can see both Alpha Nolan and Brad, the future Alpha, as well as Luna Amelia. It looks as though they are waiting on their daughter as they keep looking over their shoulder. But I know this is a big weekend for her so it is not a big deal for me. Most Alpha families greet guests as a whole, but honestly today she graduated and turned 18, so I will have some grace for them. I get out of the car and meet us with my Beta as we approach the Midnight leaders. “Alpha, Luna, Brad. Thank you for inviting us to such a happy and special event.” As I shake each of their hands, I turn to Brad. “And Brad, I am excited to see you become the Alpha, and I hope that we can continue our alliance when that day comes here shortly.” “Thank you Alpha Alex.” I look at him and when I look at him I see the bright blue eyes from my dream looking back at me, and now I am terribly confused. But I don’t have much time to think because I can hear someone rushing to the front of the pack house to join us. “Alpha Alex, I am so sorry that I am late, I got caught up….” And when I look to see who is joining us, I instantly know it is the Alpha’s daughter because I can see she looks just like Brad. The moment I look at her and lock eyes, my world stops. Calving is screaming Mate in my head, and I can see her just as mesmerized and then the look of adoration and hope fill her eyes. When I get the courage to speak the first thing I can say is, “I’ll be right back.” I then instantly shift into Calving who is a large silver wolf with ice blue paws. And I run towards their forest until I get to a lake.
