Waking up, I am thankful that Kenzie is still asleep. I know that we need to figure this out, but there are so many possibilities that we may honestly not know what to truly expect. On top of trying to figure out how to plan to get everyone in the same place again. I can feel a mind link from my mom coming in.
“Hey Lucy, I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. I could tell that you had your emotions everywhere last night, and I just wanted to make sure everything was okay.” I always forget to close off my emotions when having conversations with people, but at the same time, I love my parents’ care so much to check on us without hounding for answers.
“Yeah mom, there is still a lot we must talk about today. We are both okay, and if at some point Kenzie wants to share with you all what is going on, then that is her story to tell.” I know my parents would prefer to know but they also respect us enough to bring them in the loop if something major was up.
“Okay sweetheart, well just let us know if you need anything. We will see you for lunch later.” With that I could feel my mom cut the mind link.
“Hey Lu, how long have you been up?” I’m honestly surprised Kenzie is up so early. She normally sleeps until 3pm, and it is only 10am.
“Honestly, not long. Was talking to mom and let her know we would be down for lunch. How are you feeling?”
“I feel better now that someone else knows. But now I don’t know what happens next. So I am hoping that maybe we can come up with a plan and try to figure this out.” I know that she fears the unknown, I mean we all are. But now we must be adults and figure this out.
“Okay, well let’s get right down to it. Do you know who your mate is, or at least which pack he may be from?” I know this is a long shot, but if she does, this may give us a good lead.
“My wolf seems to think that my mate is from the Blood Moon pack. She says that she smelled the rainforest and pine, and me and whoever I was with when we went into the house, the smell was everywhere like they lived there. Or I was just so drunk that it seemed that way.”
“So maybe from blood moon or a high ranking guest from another pack that would have been housed in the pack house. That is something to go off of.” Then it came to me. “Wait, there is a possibility you are mated to someone with rank!!” I squealed, knowing that we have dreamed of this our whole lives.
“Or it could be a warrior or an Omega from Blood Moon. And honestly, I am okay with this if what has happened doesn’t make him want to reject me.”
“Okay, well this isn’t that bad.” Kenzie goes to interject, but I hold up my hand to let me finish before she starts in. “Here me out. You think your mate is from Blood Moon?” She nods. “And you think the person you were with was from the Shadow pack?” Again, she nods, and I am thankful she is allowing this to continue. “So the party for Brad and I will be this coming weekend.” I am thankful that it looks like the light has gone off and she understands.
“So, since they were both at the full moon ball, then they would both most likely be coming here for your party! That is good, maybe we can sort this out this weekend.” I am relieved, then I see her pale. “But what if it goes badly and they both fight and ruin your night? Or what if I get rejected and again ruin your night? Or….”
“Alright turbo, take a breath, will you? You won’t ruin anything because this is my best friend possibly finding her mate! That is something that we have talked about for as long as we can remember. And if any of that happens you know my parents and Brad will all be there to stop it. As well as Mark. You know that we took you in to be part of our family and we protect ours. Just because you feel like it is you against the world, you forget that we all have your back too.” When Mackenzie was 6 we found her just outside the pack border. Our patrol warriors heard a noise and when they went to investigate they found her crying by her parents' bodies. It looked like a rogue attack, and ever since then we took her into the pack house. Her being 6 months older than me, we just hit it off and became the best of friends.
“I know you all have my back. You have always proven that and always treat me like family. I guess I just fear that if this ruins your day, you won’t want to be friends anymore. I mean you are graduating from high school and nursing school and your brother with a business degree. Plus, you both have the possibility of finding your mates too.”
“Well, if we all three find our mates and figure this out, then that will be the best present you can give me. There is one more thing though.” I can see her visibly stiffen with that. “I think, being that there are multiple packs involved, I think we need to tell my parents what is going on, and maybe even Brad and Mark. I only say this because they are family, and also my parents are Alpha and Luna and will be able to put a handle on anything that might arise.”
“You are right, we shouldn’t let everyone get blindsided. Plus, maybe this will prevent total chaos from arising.” Honestly, I am glad she agreed because I don’t think it would have been a good surprise to anyone. The Shadow pack hasn’t always been the best, and they tend to cause drama everywhere they go.
“Alright, I'll mind link them to meet us in Dad’s office so that way we can try and come up with a game plan.” After I mind link them, we started heading to the Alpha office, and we both just kind of walk in silence. I know we are thinking the same thing. We have always had the same kind of mind set when it comes to handling situations.
When we walk into the office, everyone is already sitting and talking. I wonder how long they have been here.
“Hey guys, were you just waiting around knowing we would want to talk to you like creeps?” Everyone laughs, but all of us kids exchange a look because that is how it always felt when we needed to talk with any of our parents.
“No princess,” my dad has always loved that nickname. “We were just finishing up talking with Brad and Mark about trying to decide when they want to take over the pack. Plus, we needed to talk about the potential Gamma and Delta’s and who your brother may have had in mind.” Oh well then, I guess the timing just worked out on this one.
"Alright, well I cant wait to see Brad take over the pack. Mark, you know that you may cause some of the headaches for my brother, right?” We all laugh except Mark, which makes us all laugh harder knowing that it is true. “But we will continue that conversation another time. Kenzie wants you all to know what she has told me, and before she does, I ask that you let her tell you everything, and then she will tell you what we may have pieced together.” My brother, of course, is the first to jump in.
“Mackenzie, you know you are like a sister to me and I promise you whatever this is Mark and I have your back like brothers would.” Mark nods, showing he agrees. “And I know I can speak for my parents as both the leaders of this pack, as well as the ones who see you as another daughter. No matter what you need, we will help any way we can.” My parents both nod.
Kenzie then goes on to tell them everything that she told me. While she also tells them what our suspicions, or lack thereof, and I take the time to talk with Maze.
“Maze, you have been quiet. What are your thoughts?”
“Lucy, I have the same thoughts you do, but I also have a feeling this isn’t going to play out too smoothly. Just know that we may have a lot happen soon, and there may be a lot for everyone to take in.” That seemed cryptic and now I feel even more on edge.
“What do you mean by that Maze? Is anyone going to get hurt?” I just want everyone I love to be happy and safe.
“Physically, everyone will be fine, but emotionally we all might be thrown for a loop. The Moon Goddess came and talked to me about it so that I can have somewhat control, but I am not supposed to tell you. I have a feeling it’s a test. For what, I am not sure. Just know that we will have to really try and be patient and understanding.” Well, now my mind is in overdrive but I can’t harp on this now. Kenzie needs me and I need to be there for her.
My mom pipes in. “Okay, well you both were serious when you said it was going to be a lot. I will say with the possibility of all 3 top packs being involved things could get messy, especially if high-ranking mates are involved. But we are all in an alliance so that should help some.” My mom always shoots it straight, which is nice when we have been all over the place.
“Luna,” Kenzie says and instantly regrets saying that with one look at mom. She has always hated that she tries to address her as Luna when she has always seen her as family. “Im sorry, Amelia, I am thankful for all of you and I apologize for any unwanted drama this may bring. This weekend is supposed to be about the twins, and I feel like I might ruin it all.”
“Sweetheart, you can never ruin something when you aren’t the one in control. This may just be what the Moon Goddess has planned on how this needs to play out. No matter what happens, I can promise you that none of us will blame you.” We all take a breath and nod, knowing that it was all just a lot to process.
“Alright kids. Now that we all have a lot to think about, how about we all go get lunch and then just relax for the rest of the day as a family.” Leave it to my dad to be the one who knows what we all need.
“Sounds like a plan, maybe we can have a family game night like old times.” Everyone looks at me at the suggestion, but they all nod their agreement. This may be the medicine that we all need. We all start walking to the dining hall, and I feel like I have to start planning less and allowing stuff to just play out. Maybe this will help me in the long run be less uptight.
