Chapter Five

She fell silent and watched me without saying a word. Moving apart from each other, we kept packing our things like nothing had just happened.
We both walked into the mansion and she disappeared down the hall and into her room without saying a word or looking back at me.
Thankfully, she had no more strength to try to lecture me as we both went towards our separate rooms.
Such an attitude from someone I married as a favor. How could she not know her own place? Did she really think I would treat her like my wife? That I would love and respect her when we both knew I was doing her family a favor.
But I had no time to keep thinking about the annoying brat that lived under my roof now. There was too much work to get done at the company and less time now that I had wasted too much time on the annoying wedding.
Everything was just stressing me out, I felt like lying down and sleeping till dawn but I also knew I had to get some work done.
"Mr Benjamin–"
"Listen, J, I am really tired right now, can we suspend whatever it is to have to report me?" I said, cutting Jeremy off.
Jeremy was my assistant and also a friend. He was always there to help me with whatever I needed whether it was a personal favor or work related.
But I was too tired to tend to anything at the moment, work related or not. I was already pissed off by the sassy little princess I got married to and the last thing I needed was something else to ruin my mood even more.
"If you'll listen to me..." he said with an arched brow.
I let out a sigh. "What is it?"
"Your girlfriend, Miss McGuire, is currently in your bedroom, waiting for you. And if I'm to be honest, she has been waiting quite a while." He explained to me with a plain expression on his face.
Did I really hear him right? "Wait, what?"
"And if you are worried that your wife might see you, you don't have to worry about it. Miss Castillo is currently being tended to by the maids in her bedroom and I doubt she will be leaving there any time soon. Miss McGuire is in your room and impatiently waiting for you to go to her."
My lips spread into a wide smile. I pulled him into my arms and hugged him. "You are the best, Jeremy! No really! I don't know what I'd do without you."
He smiled and shrugged me off. "Just go to your woman already."
I hurried to my room under his gaze. As I pushed the door open, my beautiful angel sprung to her feet with a sad smile on her face.
Her brown eyes watched me as if with hesitation and her lips remained tightened together, as if she was forcefully holding back her words.
Closing the door behind myself, I ran to her and threw my arms around her. I hugged so tightly like I would never let go. If I could, I wouldn't ever let her go.
It crushed my heart to see her so hurt like that. But who wouldn't feel that way when her only lover had gotten married to another woman in front of the entire world.
If she weren't such an understanding spirit, she wouldn't have believed me when I said I was forced to do it. But I knew for sure that she could feel my pain as well for having to do something like that to her.
She suddenly pushed away from me and her eyes widened as she spoke. "You didn't do anything with that woman right? You didn't... if you did, I will never forgive you!"
I pulled her back into my hands with my hands around her waist. "Hannah, you should trust me. Except for everything you saw on the TV, I didn't even sit next to her. I kept my hands to myself at all times and only held her when the cameras were looking."
The sternness on her face softened. It was understandable for her to react like that. The wedding was quite an impressively flamboyant one and the way we kissed, anyone would believe we were truly in love with each other.
I leaned closer to her face and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. "Be rest assured my love, you are the only one my heart yearns for and it will stay that way for all eternity. You are the one I love, I know right now, I may be married to another woman but that marriage is only on paper.
"It was an act to please the press. Just think of it as a business deal and I'm promising you that soon, it will all be over. When it's just you and me, it'll be like something like this never happened."
Her gaze dropped to the ground. "I'm aware that it is a marriage which is business oriented but still, don't you watch movies? What if she becomes irresistible in your eyes and you suddenly don't want me anymore...?"
"Hey," I held her chin and lifted her gaze to meet mine. "Aren't you hearing what I'm saying? You are the only one I love. My life will be incomplete without you, I can never be happy without you by my side. So stop thinking about things that will never happen and just focus on me."
Her lips curved into a smile as I pulled her closer to my chest with my hands caressing her body. "I'm really glad you are here. Let's forget everything else and just enjoy each other right now."
"Well... if you say you will never leave me then I guess I can bring myself to trust you. You better not go back on your words!" She said with a slight frown.
I let out a soft chuckle. "I promise."
Pressing my lips on hers, I sucked on her lower lip and bit it gently. She moaned as she parted her lips for my tongue to slip in and I enjoyed exploring her mouth.
Gently pushing her down to the bed, I placed small kisses on her neck and she let out soft moans.
Lifting my head to meet with her gaze, her beautiful eyes stared into mine and I felt my heart skip a beat.
"I want to be with you forever, baby." Her sweet and tenacious voice caught my ear and I lowered my head to place a light kiss on her lips.
"Me too darling, me too. I promise you that I'll make it happen. Just trust me and patiently remain by my side." I said to her.
She nodded her head with a gentle smile on her face.
It meant the world to me that even after everything I had to put her through, she still came through for me when I needed her.
If it weren't for my parents who made my own decision for me, we would never have been in such a sticky and messy situation in the first place and I would have never had to hurt her the way I did.
She wouldn't say it to my face but I could tell how much pain she was in just knowing that I was already married to another man.
So I'll have to be there for her forever and right now, I had to remind her just how much I loved her.
I kissed her once again and I was set on one thing, giving her a night she would forever remember.
