Chapter 2: A Date?

1672 Words
During the morning classes, Jean and Adrien sat beside each other like a stranger, like usual. It’s just that a stare has been settled towards Jean’s back. Behind the two’s seat was another pair of seats where a girl and a boy both sat as well. The girl frowned as she noticed that her seatmate was looking at the girl in front of them. “Jean Kim, my birthday was next month already. I hope you can come.” Denisse Kim, Jean’s distant cousin spoke. Jean turned her head to look at Denisse as the boy behind her slid his sight to the window. “Sure. I’ll come.” Jean smiled. But then, Denisse looked at the boy beside him and so Jean. “What about you, June?” Denisse smiled. Jean looked clearly at June as she remembered what happened yesterday. How did this guy know that she has a relationship with Adrien and that they’ve broken up? Is he perhaps a stalker? Denisse and Jean were shocked to hear his answer just as he turned to look at them. “Sure.” This cold guy agreed to come on Denisse’s birthday?! “Really? Oh my God! Then I’ll be looking forward to it!” Denisse exclaimed as the whole class’ attention went on her. Jean looked at June first before shaking her head and going back to her proper position. … 10 AM break then arrived.             Jean, having so much thoughts just sat on her desk placing her chin on her palm. Can she really continue being like this every day? Looking at Adrien, he seemed like his usual self. As if nothing happened. All of a sudden, strawberry milk was dropped on her desk. Jean immediately traced her sight to the guy who dropped the strawberry milk. “June Park?” Jean was surprised at the same time confused. June kept silent and just sat on his seat. “Do you think you’ll be able to get me with just this strawberry milk?” Jean asked. “What do you mean?” June just asked as he looked at the window. “What do you want exactly? You keep on bothering me.” Jean said as she stood up and transferred the strawberry milk to his desk. June casually looked at her and held Jean’s hand and the strawberry milk. Jean didn’t expect that June would separate her hand from the strawberry milk. Jean’s mouth twitched even more after June inserted the straw and sipped on it. “How can you take back what you’ve given?! Did you know that I like strawberry milk so much?” Jean said and grabbed the milk from June’s hand. No one was currently in the classroom except the two and a guy on the door. Jean didn’t care as she sipped on the strawberry milk as well and returned on her desk. The guy on the door saw everything and June was aware of it. … The day continued just like usual, except for the freshman Chan. “Don’t you think this was unreasonable? I can buy you anything or do anything as long as it was reasonable.” Chan spoke. “But we only agreed that you’ll grant me a wish every time I save you.” The other guy spoke. “If you don’t skip afternoon classes with me, it’d be a breach of contract and you’ll have to pay me before we completely forget about the promises for a quits.” Chan started to feel anxious as the other guy threaten him. It’s not exactly threatening since he agreed on this in the first place. “F-fine.” Chan then replied. It was his first-time cutting classes though. “Then let’s go right now.” The guy said. “B-but I thought we’ll go after lunch?” Chan asked. “Who said?” Chan was dragged towards the school backyard. “B-bobby, where are we going?” Chan asked as they approached a wall covered with a Creeping Charlie plant. “Don’t worry, I do this often, so I have experienced the worst.” Bobby Kang replied. He looked around first to see if there were people before finally setting his hand on the plant. The plant wasn’t deeply rooted on the main wall, instead, it was planted on a hanging cloth, so Bobby just pulled it up like a curtain and a cracked part of the wall was revealed. Not long, he pushed it and the outside of the school which was not so crowded gave them a sight. Chan wasn’t able to deny that this was amazing. The two then crawled to get out through the opened part, after that, Bobby returned the cracked piece of the wall back. “When did you make this escaping whole?” Chan can’t help but ask. “Not long ago, my cousin found out that the Creeping Charlie plant was actually planted on a hanged piece of fabric on walls, so I decided to make a c***k here and here it is. We’re now on a park.” Bobby replied. “You’re amazing!” Chan exclaimed. At the moment Bobby looked at Chan’s delighted eyes, it feels like the time has stopped. It was the very first time in his life to be praised like this and be looked at with such innocent and delighted eyes. It was as if he was brought to the skies. “Chan Kim…” “Let’s skip classes together on boring days!” Chan, again, exclaimed. Bobby wasn’t able to blink as his sight was sticked on Chan’s petite figure. “No.” He replied. “Huh? Why?!” Chan was near to tearing up. Does he not want him to hang out together because he looked weak? “Bobby, I’m not weak.” “You are.” “I’m not!” “Fine. Let’s get out of here before anyone notices.” … On the public street market, Chan was walking behind Bobby as they headed to the middle where a Kimbap restaurant was placed. It’s Chan’s first time going out on a walk at a crowded and noisy place since he’s been travelling privately since birth. That is a reason why he has no idea of most people’s lives and styles. The people that he saw in his life were all rich that only courtesy, elegance, and grace was presented. “Chan, do you like Kimbap?” Bobby asked all of a sudden as they stopped walking. “Uhm, I like Tuna Kimbap and Kimchi Kimbap.” Chan replied. “Let’s get there then, Kimchi Kimbap was their specialty.” Bobby smiled. Chan was mesmerized by his smile. The more he looked at Bobby, the more his heart feels comfort. They then headed on the Kimbap restaurant. Since it hasn’t been lunch, not much people came. Again, it was Chan’s first time seeing such a small-spaced restaurant with many tables. The restaurant was only a floor, but the surroundings looked lively even though smoke were visible on the atmosphere. It wasn’t as spacious and silent as the restaurants Chan had visited before, but it felt comfortable. Maybe because big restaurants require grace even when eating and it was giving him pressure every time. Here, you can treat it as your own home. “Aunt, please give us two orders of each Kimchi Kimbap and Tuna Kimbap.” Bobby shouted at the aunt who was serving. “Hey, Bobby! Did you cut classes again?” The aunt asked as she prepared what Bobby ordered. “And it seems like you have a lot of money in you right now?” Bobby just laughed and dragged Chan towards a table to sit. “Will she report us?” Chan whispered at Bobby. All of a sudden, Bobby couldn’t help but laugh. Chan looked around to see what’s so funny but found nothing. So, with a confused face, he asked, “Why are you laughing?” “It’s nothing… Haha, you’re just cute.” Bobby replied. Chan on the other side blushed like an embarrassed little girl. Then, the aunt served their order. “Yah, Bobby-ah, did you influenced someone to cut classes with you?” The aunt asked as she saw Chan. “Yes, aunt. Guess what, I got myself a best friend!” Bobby proudly said. Chan could figure out that his smiles were genuine. Is he this proud to have him as his friend? Oh right, he always saw him alone all the time before. Their classmates even talked behind his back saying that he’s been abused when he was child that’s why he became such a rude and bad boy. Turns out Bobby was actually a lonely boy. “Yes, aunt, Bobby was my best friend starting today, oh, yesterday. I will pay for today’s food.” Chan spoke lively. The aunt nodded her head as she smiled at them, “Looks like you have a lot to know about each other then.” The aunt then left. “Chan, I’m paying.” Bobby spoke as he looked at Chan. “Why? Just let me. I want to at least contribute on our date.” Chan replied, looking back at him. Bobby was shocked at his words, DATE? Not long after, Bobby looked away. “How can you call this a date?” …
