Chapter 38: Fulfilling a Promise
I could not say anything; my emotions were so raw. Max led us out of the dungeon. I still call it that, even though I now know it's just a cell in what looks to be a tiny cabin. As we exited the cabin, I could tell we were deep in the woods. Stone had been correct in his assumption; we were not on pack lands. There were wolves around, but no one seemed to be paying any attention to Max or me. Max whispered a warning in my ear, “It would be in your best interest to keep quiet and not call attention to yourself, Viviana. If you are a good girl, I will return you back to your Alpha for the time he has left.” The word sent shivers down my spine, but we walked in silence.
